Grayson.

My head is pounding, like someone shoved a door in my skull and now some idiot’s punching it from the inside.

I can barely even here what the priest says. I’m pretty sure the sunlight coming through the glass windows has something against me. it’s offensive. Too bright.

The last thing I remember from last light is a fist colliding with my face and my head being shoved into a bowl of ice water. Edward’s way of ‘sobering me up.’

Now I’m standing here in a damn gold suit like some disco ball version of a dutiful son, part of a fairytale wedding that feels more like a funeral for my sanity. Everyone's smiling, clapping, pretending this isn’t a performance staged by the devil himself.

Groomsman duty. What a f*cking joke.

Isa’s on the bridesmaid side, in a maroon dress. I can practically feel her glaring at me like her stare alone can knock some sense into me.

I glance at her. She mouths. “You’re a f*cking idiot.” I look away when I see the concern in her eyes.

I don’t deserve it.

  • On Thin Ice: A Forbidden Step Siblings Affair   Mine, She's F*cking Mine

Grayson.I give her exactly one minute. A head start that's more mercy than she deserves after the stunt she pulled with Jace today. My heart thuds against my ribs like a caged animal as I pull out my phone, the screen lighting up with our locations, her blue dot moving through the hotel like prey that doesn't know it's already been caught. The distance between her dot and my red one isn't large. It never will be again.A smirk spreads across my lips as I watch her blue dot climb the stairs, and I follow like the predator I've always been when it comes to her. Every nerve in my body is pulled taut, warring between rational thought and the primal need clawing at my chest.Today has been shit from start to finish. The dream about Mom on the bus this morning. Jace's hands on Rae, his voice in her ear, making her laugh like I never could. The sensible thing would be to call it a night. Walk away. Let whatever this is between us burn itself out.But I can't get her out of my head. Can't st

  • On Thin Ice: A Forbidden Step Siblings Affair   The Hunt Begins.

Raelynn. My head snaps back to the front, jaw tight, spine locked. Did he really just…“Come here?” Who the hell does he think he is?My heart slams against my ribs like it’s trying to escape. I fight the urge to turn around. Fight the itch crawling down my spine, the heat licking up my throat. His gaze is still on me—I feel it, heavy and sharp. The noise in the hall fades. Jace is still talking beside me, but his voice becomes a soft blur compared to the deafening rhythm of my pulse. My lips part slightly. My breathing's off. My thighs squeeze together, a slick reminder of what I hate to admit: He hasn’t even touched me yet. Hasn’t said a word. Just mouthed a command. And I’m melting. Like some weak little thing. Like some girl who likes being told what to do.No. No. I’m not that girl…right?“Rae!”I jolt like I’ve been caught red-handed. Yara’s voice snaps me back. I blink at her, cheeks flushed, chest rising and falling faster than I’d like to admit.“You good? I’ve been calling y

  • On Thin Ice: A Forbidden Step Siblings Affair   A Breath Of Fresh Air

Raelynn“You can’t be serious.”A laugh bursts from my lips, the kind that starts in your chest and makes your whole body tremble. I have to clutch my stomach, breathing through the ache because I’ve laughed too much already. “No—shut up. You’re lying.”Jace just shrugs, wearing that boyish grin that makes it hard to tell when he’s serious. “Swear on my life,” he says, holding up two fingers like we’re in court. “The dude actually mistook my cologne for pepper spray and ran into a trash can.”“Oh my God—” I wheeze, nearly tipping over as I slap his arm. “You’re the worst.”"Your mouth's gonna hurt even more if you keep laughing like that," he says, but his tone is gentler now, almost careful.I wipe tears from my eyes, trying to catch my breath. "Worth it though. I haven't laughed this hard in ages."He stares at me, there’s a flicker—just a flash—in his eyes. Guilt? Teasing? I can’t tell. He brushes it off with another grin, but something in my stomach flips. We’ve been sitting on th

  • On Thin Ice: A Forbidden Step Siblings Affair   So Much Jealousy.

GraysonI've been standing in this fucking courtyard for what feels like hours, the sun bleeding orange across the sky while I stare up at her window like some kind of deranged stalker. My feet are rooted to this spot even though every rational part of my brain is screaming at me to walk away.Sloane's been talking the entire time—something about her summer in Europe, about the museums in Paris, about how much she's missed us. I've been giving her just enough attention to seem polite, throwing in the occasional "mmm" or "that's cool," but my focus keeps drifting like a magnet to that second-floor window.Where Norman is sitting on Rae's bed like he fucking belongs there. Why does she let him so close? A guy shouldn't even be in her room in the first place, especially not him. Not when he's looking at her like... like she's something precious. Something worth protecting. The thought makes my jaw clench so hard I'm surprised my teeth don't crack."Gray, are you even listening to me?" Sl

  • On Thin Ice: A Forbidden Step Siblings Affair   Being Sneaky.

Raelynn"A week with SilverHigh? Now that's going to be drama." Yara loops her arm with mine as we head inside, practically vibrating with excitement. Her voice keeps rolling—shared space this, rivalries that, who might throw the first punch—but her words fade into background noise.Because laughter echoes behind us. Rich, genuine laughter that makes my stomach clench.I glance over my shoulder and immediately wish I hadn't.Gray. He's standing close—too close—to some girl with sleek black hair that catches the light like silk and a smile so bright it could power the entire hotel. Her hand brushes his arm, fingers lingering, and it's so casual, so natural, that something cold and sharp spreads through my chest like poison. They look like they've known each other since childhood. Like they share inside jokes and memories I'll never be part of. Like she belongs in his space in a way that makes my skin crawl."You're going to trip if you keep craning your neck like that," Yara mutters, y

  • On Thin Ice: A Forbidden Step Siblings Affair   Knights vs Wolves 2

My brows furrow in confusion as Jace steps closer, his face a mix of surprise and something that looks almost... pleased? What's more surprising is the fact that he's not alone and has an entourage of people behind him wearing Silver High jackets. So that's what they were looking at."Hey," I offer a small smile, suddenly feeling awkward under the weight of all these stares. Jace was pretty chill the last time I met him, but I still know practically nothing about him. Plus he conveniently forgot to mention the whole SilverHigh/KAQ war thing, whatever that's about anyway."I thought I was dreaming for a sec," he smirks in that flirty way that reminds me of Grayson when he's being particularly insufferable.Ugh, stop thinking about him already."Since I've been seeing you a lot in my dreams."My face twists like I'm physically pained, which causes him to chuckle. "Do NOT say stuff like that." My voice is firm though my lips betray me by twitching into a smile. He raises his hands up in m
