Seraphina

*****Crescent Valley Fortress — Same Morning*****

I knew something was wrong the moment the messenger ran into my quarters without knocking.

His face was pale. Sweaty. Terrified.

People were always terrified around me, but this was different.

This was fear of a disaster he didn’t know how to say out loud.

“What is it?” I snapped.

He gulped. “Alpha Chase… he….he saw something in the courtyard.”

My heartbeat jumped. “What something?”

He hesitated.

“I don’t pay you to stand and tremble like an idiot,” I barked. “Spit it out.”

He finally whispered, “Elena is here.”

Everything inside me froze.

Elena.

Alive.

Not dead in the wild.

Not buried under rogue attacks.

Alive. Standing. Breathing. Existing.

For a moment, the world spun, and I had to grip the edge of the table to steady myself.

“Are you sure?” I hissed.

“Yes, Luna. And she’s not alone.”

My eyes narrowed. “Explain.”

“She arrived with two children.”

My stomach twisted so violently it felt like I’d been hit in the gut.

No.

No.

Elena*****Crescent Valley Fortress — War Hall, Hours later*****The hall was still humming with the weight of Lucian’s final words.Even after everyone straightened and tried to look composed, the tension stayed thick. It sat heavy in the air like smoke after a fire.Chase looked shaken but stubborn.Lucian looked unbothered and completely in control. The council looked terrified. And the twins… they were too calm.Too quiet.Finn tugged at my sleeve, small brows pulled together.“Mom?” he whispered. “Something is wrong.”My stomach tightened instantly.“Where?” I asked. He didn’t point to anything in the room.He pointed to his chest.“Inside,” he murmured. “I feel… loud.”Lucian’s head snapped toward him.“Finn,” he said carefully. “What exactly do you feel?”Finn frowned harder. “Someone is calling us.”My hands froze.“Calling?” Chase asked, voice suddenly sharp. “Calling how?”Finn didn’t answer.Because Fia did.“It’s not a voice,” she said softly. Her pupils flickered with sil

Elena*****Crescent Valley Fortress — Eastern Wing*****I barely slept. Not because of Chase.Because of the twins.Finn had crawled into my lap and fallen asleep on my chest, warm and peaceful. Fia kept waking up every hour, sensing the tension in the air. Her abilities were still unstable. Emotional pressure around her made her restless.By the time dawn crept through the window, my head was pounding.I stood at the balcony, arms crossed, breathing in the cold air while the twins slept. The fortress was already awake, warriors marching, patrols moving, scouts preparing for the peace summit.Everyone was tense.Everyone but me.And that was the part I worked hardest for.Behind me, a soft knock sounded. Before I could respond, the door opened.Lucian stepped inside.Tall. Calm. Silent. His presence swallowed the room instantly. He didn’t need an introduction, he carried the kind of authority that made even the air react. His cloak billowed softly as he walked toward me. Silver patter

  • On Your Kneels, Alpha Chase    The First Apology

Chase*****Crescent Valley Fortress — Courtyard*****I didn’t sleep.I didn’t blink.I didn’t move. After the courtyard scene with Seraphina, the world around me had turned into static. Noise without meaning. Faces without names. Voices without weight. All I saw was Elena walking away with the twins. My twins. And that look on her face when our eyes met….Not anger. Not shock. Not fear.Nothing.Absolute nothing. As if I was a stranger. My wolf whimpered inside me, restless and confused, pacing like I’d stabbed him in the chest. Every second that passed made the ache worse. It wasn’t physical pain, it was something colder, something that wrapped around my lungs and squeezed.Regret.Real regret.A kind I’d never felt before.Quinn stood beside me silently. He knew better than to speak. The courtyard had emptied, leaving only the echo of what happened hovering in the air.Seraphina’s lies.My blindness.Elena’s return. And the twins. The twins.“Where is she now?” I finally asked, my v

Chase*****Crescent Valley Fortress — Mid-Morning*****I didn’t sleep.I didn’t even sit. After Elena disappeared behind those gates, I stayed rooted to the same spot long after the sun had climbed over the mountains. The morning bustle around me blurred into meaningless noise, soldiers shouting orders, delegates preparing for negotiations, horses stamping on the ground. None of it reached me.Only one thing mattered.Elena was alive.Elena was here. And she was hiding something.Something big.Quinn returned after giving me space, stopping at my side with two cups of water. He handed one to me even though we both knew I wasn’t going to drink it.“You can’t stalk the entrance forever,” he said quietly.“I’m not stalking.”“You’re standing like a statue and growling at anyone who walks too close. Chase, that’s stalking.”I didn’t bother answering.Because suddenly… everything in me shifted. My wolf jerked up, ears forward, entire body alert.A scent rolled across the courtyard, faint a

Chase*****Five Years Later — Crescent Valley Plains, Dawn*****I had been running nonstop.Hours of chasing a scent so faint most wolves would’ve thought it was their imagination. But not me. Not when that scent had once been the center of my entire existence.Wildflowers. Ash. A hint of something warm I hadn’t breathed in five long years.Elena.Every step forward felt like my chest was ripping open wider. My wolf paced inside me like a caged animal, snapping and snarling, pushing against my skin with a desperation that bordered on madness.Quinn stayed close behind me, panting slightly. “Chase….slow down. You’re going to scare the delegates.”“I don’t care,” I growled without looking back.We crested a hill overlooking the large open plain in front of the Crescent Valley Fortress. Dawn had turned the horizon gold. Delegations were arriving for peace negotiations, carriages rolling in, warriors assembling, banners fluttering in the cold wind. But all of that became background noise
