登入I shifted and let Mara take control of my form as soon as we’re in the vastness of the White Woods.
She’s going faster day by day. That’s what my father and sister don’t know. They keep saying I am weak and slow, they don’t know that Mara has talents of her own.
With Mara running, we continued to channel all my anger and hatred and disdain by turning them into the strength we spent running through the snowy forest. It was a labyrinth of frost-covered foliage and frozen trees, but Mara’s icy breath didn’t stop her.
Now that I’m away from my so-called family, now that I’m as far from the Moonflame Pack as possible...I feel a little bit of a sense of relief. Not a little bit, but an absolute sense of relief. It was as if a large thorn that had been embedded in my side for years had finally been removed.
Mara ran and ran, letting the morning winter breeze caress our moon-white fur. It was also our companion as we traversed the white forest.
After hours of running, we heard the sound of flowing water. I do not know how it happened, that there are still parts of our country that remain as is, like the trees with their leaves intact and this running river, even with the Alpha King’s eternal frozen season. We looked beyond the trees and there, a river with its tempting fresh cool water made us halt. However, in the distance, some parts of the river are mildly frozen. We didn’t heed it.
“Let’s rest for a bit.”
Mara rested and shifted into me, our human form. I feel the softness of the winter wind and listen to the rustling of the frosty trees. “It’s peaceful here,” Mara claimed.
Alone and free. Finally, after eighteen years, I’m alone and free.
I bent down and scooped a handful of water on my open palms. The water tastes so fresh and cool. I also washed my face with it to continue the rest of the day not looking like one step closer to the grave. I don’t know where I’m going now. The moment I realize I’m alone and free, I also realize that I have no mate and no pack. I have no life being a wandering she-wolf.
Or maybe my father’s anger will eventually pass and will bid me to return...
I don’t care if he labels me as a pack outcast and stations me at the farthest edge of the packgrounds—
“It won’t happen,” said Mara.
Right. Maybe I’m not ready to be alone and totally free after all.
“Or maybe we’ll meet someone that fate has bestowed on us.” Mara’s right. Perhaps we’ll meet my second-chance mate along the way. There’s no harm in hoping. Besides, I’m an Alpha’s daughter—an Alpha’s blood runs in my veins. Surely the Moon Goddess won’t just abandon me that easily.
Half an hour later, I gave a simple prayer of gratitude to the Moon Goddess as I finally completed my rest and breakfast. One of the servants, an Omega, who packed my things made sure I had food enough to allow me to survive in the harshness of the White Woods.
I was about to shift again and run north when an arrow flew past me. It was too quick for my wolf sight to notice. Thankfully, the arrow only passed through my left shoulder. The sleeve there is the reason my skin remained unscathed.
“Tresspasser over here! Tresspasser over here!”
Out of nowhere, guards sprang out of the snowy bushes, the frozen trees, the tall icy grasses. I didn’t notice them earlier nor picked up their scent. It seems they blended with the snow-white fur cloaks that they wore. I was probably too preoccupied by the river to check my surroundings.
“Please. I didn’t do anything!” I explained, lifting my hands open to the air.
“You did!” The one in front of me growled. He’s wearing an armor with a black-and-gold insignia. I know that symbol. I’ve seen that before. “You’ve trespassed the Blackwind Pack territory, Rogue.”
“I am not a Rogue. I am an Alpha’s daughter. Alpha Marcus of the Moonflame Pack is my father!”
Mara started to snarl inside me. The mere sight of Blackwind Pack guards already sent us trembling. Indeed, the Blackwind Pack is the home of a cruel Alpha who even refuses to bow down before the Alpha King, my father once said.
And if they capture me and take me to their dungeons...I’m doomed. I can’t afford to be an enemy under the eyes of the Alpha King. No one lives when an enemy comes face-to-face with the Alpha King.
They all looked at each other, communicating silently through their minds.
“Alpha Marcus has only one daughter, and her name is Elodie with blonde hair and blue eyes. You have black hair.”
I can’t believe it. Did my bitch of a sister tip off these guards?
“It’s possible,” Mara hissed.
“The Alpha of the Moonflame Pack has two daughters! I’m the younger one. My name is Evadne.” I pulled up my right sleeve. Every wolf has a tattoo of their pack’s insignia on their right arm. Those who don’t are the ones excommunicated and banished, the ones who became Rogues.
When their eyes landed on my right arm, their brows raised.
“I told you,” I smirked.
“Yeah you did,” said the one on my right.
I glanced at my right arm, and my eyes widened too. The tattoo was no longer there.
My father did really banish his younger daughter this time for their own good.

The dungeons here in the Blackwind Pack are more damp, a rotten scent mingling in the air as if someone died here and the guards just let their bodies decompose. The mixture of the winter air and mountain snow and decomposing flesh is extremely awful. I vomited after a minute they locked me up here.
I was forced to go with them. Blindfolded. As a trespassing ‘Rogue’ in the Alpha King’s enemy pack, either I die on the spot or they lock me up in the dungeons awaiting the judgment of their Alpha.
But at least the room where I am has cooler surroundings and not the ones which have a harshness to the cold that you’ll become like an ice statue the next day you wake up on the floor. And they provide food and water as soon as they lock me up too so that’s a bonus.
The only problem? I’m chained to the wall and can’t even reach the said food and water. It was a greater torture, I realized. To have something you need in front of you but you can never have it. You're only meant to stare and smell and lick your lips as if you can feel the cold water entering your mouth and down your throat.
And I guess I just escaped the torment of the Moonflame Pack, only to dive deeper into the tortures of the Blackwind Pack.
I am alone now. But I am certainly not free.
Kallias’ POV (written in 3rd person) Elise raised her chin and crossed her arms. “My lips remain sealed, Alpha King, unless you fuck me. Or allow me to ride you as we exchange questions from you and answers from me.” His first offer is obviously a lie. There’s no way in the Moon Goddess’ name would he let other females see the beauty of his manhood apart from the mate he loves. That first offer was merely a test, and Elise failed at it in less than a heartbeat. “No. My first offer is the only offer I’ll dangle before you, Elise. Take it or be imprisoned with it, I don’t care. The dungeons are still spacious.” He waved a hand around the cell. Good thing this cell was enclosed, even the door was shut tight. The only light entering here is from a small square cut, but even that is adorned with silver metallic bars. “A blowjob, then. I suck your cock as I lay down my information to you. I may even give yo
Kallias’ POV (written in 3rd person)The next day, Kallias didn’t wait for lunchtime to finish. He excused himself and told the Omega leading the building of the cottage that if his mate came looking for him, he’d be in the dungeons. “Come meet me in the dungeons, Elise,” he mind-linked the Beta. Not even a second later, he received an ecstatic answer of, “Should I wear underwear or not, Alpha King?” He bared his teeth. Elise indeed has changed. He wondered if Marc had something to do with it or if it was his own fault—the fault that her love for him had poisoned her mind and soul. “It is not your fault,” my wolf assured me. “Love shouldn’t change someone for the worse, only for the better.” His brows furrowed at his wolf’s words of wisdom. Does it though? Kal’s love isn’t always sunshine and daisies, but it also doesn’t mean it has to be entirely of winter and roses: cold and full of thorns. At least Kallias knew his and Eva
Kallias’ POV (written in 3rd person)Evadne took a long time to arrive at their cottage-building activity. Hence, Kallias found himself snoozing under the winter morning sun. But it was for the better. Because Alpha King Kallias finally had a vision of his childhood again after long nights of having none. The spring sun in the green meadows was smiling down brightly at young Kallias. “I hope father won’t be looking for me. I hate formal dinners with other Alphas!” Kal meandered through the grasses and stray flowers that grew among them. “It’s just about pack politics and less about the enjoyment of food,” he mumbled. He picked up a white lily and held it up to the sky. He squinted his eyes as he positioned the flower to block out the image of the sun. “Boo!” A young girl hugged him from behind, and they both stumbled in the grass: Kal landed face-first on the softness of the meadows while the young girl landed on his back, groaning.
Evadne’s POVThe talk with Kallias days ago solidified my judgment that Elise no longer influences him. It had been the fourth day of our cottage-building activity. My belly was fine, but I felt like vomiting every hour of the day. Kal and I lowered our pride and accepted the fact that we wouldn’t finish the cottage in a week or so all by ourselves, so we enlisted the help of the male Omegas. They are more than willing to do so, especially with a promise of delicious meals as a reward as well. I was on my way outside the building where the shared chamber of Kal and I are located when I stopped by his library. I was drawn by the sound of footsteps rustling and the familiar scent of a female flitting through the open door. “Oh, good morning.” Elise turned around, looking jolly as she greeted me while she arranged the books on the shelves. “Why are you in my mate’s library?” “It’s the Alpha King’s study,” she waved an idle hand.
Elodie’s POV (written in 3rd Person)(Trigger Warning: slight monster-fucking through oral sex)Elodie never thought she’d be fuck by a monster, let alone a Bloodhound. She can’t escape. She knows that. And with the days she’d been here, does she even want to? The outside world is also brimming with misery. At least with the Prison of Despair, she has these godly monstrous beasts as her bodyguards and perhaps fuck buddies soon.If they won't eat her for dinner first. But only one of them gained interest in her brazen attempt to seduce them. When the Bloodhound slid her usual dinner plate of bread and slightly raw meat, Elodie didn’t waste any time. She was already undressed, and tonight was new moon—which means the Bloodhounds are visible. She finally saw the full image of the Bloodhound. The beast made itself smaller than its usual size so that it could fit in Elodie’s cell. When he saw her spread legs atop a bed that would definitely become undone
Kal finally decided to just ask for help from the male Omegas building the cottage. He too was exhausted last night. I mean, not last night but early dawn from the previous day. We finished three hours after midnight. The distance between borders even made us run out of topics to discuss as we rode. There’s only three females among us, including me, and it was kind of awkward to spend the hours of midnight with bulky males despite my mate being there. I woke up at noon the next day. It took more than a day for my strength and powers to be replenished. I felt my limbs burning and my back aching. I don’t know if my morning sickness had already started or if it's because of the great amount of moonflame spent in our crafting protection for the Moonflame Pack. I felt it now replenished, and it still whispered in my ghostly mother’s voice, but it was now jovial and excited, as if its slumbering days had finally end
His words remained suspended in the air as I processed each word carefully. “I thought mother died of childbirth?” “She did...” he sighed before adding, “She also did not.” I scoffed and straightened my back. “For what it’s worth, I think mother dying early is a salvation fo
“You look like you’ve been through shit.” I was on her threshold and she was holding what seemed to be a cup of jasmine tea when I knocked. I brushed my snowy shoes on her rags as Beta Geneva swiped the door open. “I was. In fact, I—” But then I shook my head. I cannot tell Beta Geneva ab
The night blurred into Kal’s quick inspection of the pack grounds, although at the back of my mind, he’s just scanning for suspicious faces. Or for the Alpha of the Blackwind Pack himself. “Kallias,” I called out to him softly. No response. He just kept striding away, not pa
Elodie’s POV (written in 3rd person)Elodie snorted. “I know that. You used to be a piss-poor Alpha, if you were to ask me.”Cold wind caressed Elodie’s bare skin. She was stripped naked, thanks to her father’s ongoing punishment that she should be denied any clothes until he ordered it again. She
