INICIAR SESIÓNChapter 5
Elena’s POV
Two days.
It had been two whole days since I’d been thrown in here—into this pit of stone and silence. My stomach twisted with hunger so sharp it made me curl into myself.
The cell was small, damp, and freezing. My bones had gone stiff and my lips pale. There was no bed, just the hard floor and the occasional rat scuttling past in the shadows.
No food. No water. Just pain—and the slow, gnawing ache of being abandoned.
I leaned against the wall, cradling my belly.
There was no denying it now. I was pregnant. The symptoms hadn’t lied—neither had the heat of Lucien’s mark still lingering at my neck like a ghost. It was now very obvious. The concealer I had used had cleaned away alongside the beads of sweat and I could feel the heat of the mark on my neck, a painful reminder of my predicament.
And gods, I was starving.
But it wasn’t just for food.
It was for safety. Warmth. Answers.
And him.
Lucien.
I hated him. I wanted to hate him. He came into my life like a storm, turned my world upside down in one night—and disappeared like smoke. Like he was not even there. Who was he? Why was Samantha so adamant that it couldn’t be him? What piece of this puzzle am I missing?
Tears prickled at the corners of my eyes. I wiped them away fiercely. I have not been fed water and food yet somehow the tears never stop flowing freely.
“Why would you do this to me?” I whispered into the dark, my cracked voice bouncing off the tainted walls of the cell. “Why save me if you were just going to leave me behind?”
I let my head fall back against the cold stone and closed my eyes.
“…Mama,” I breathed, “you died for this pack. You gave everything. And look what they’ve done to me. Look where I am.” I spread my arms wide as if she could see me. See how truly broken I was. I thought if I had stuck to my passion to be a pack healer, I would remain hidden but then I got mated to Damien.
I believed I had finally found my happy ending and Damien would be grateful for what my mother did but no… he showed me why you should never trust the male species. After the endless nights where he would whisper empty promises, he rejected me and chose Samantha.
My voice trembled. “If you’re out there—if you can hear me—please… help me. I don’t know what to do.” I pleaded, tired of sobbing.
My stomach cramped again. Hunger. Or something worse.
I didn’t know how much longer I could survive like this—not alone, not with babies growing inside me. I had to stay strong… for them. But even the thought of their tiny heartbeats couldn’t push back the darkness pressing in on me.
Then—suddenly—the lock clicked.
I sat up with a jolt, my eyes tried to adjust to the tone of darkness.
The door creaked open, making some noise, and light spilled into the cell.
I blinked against it, squinting my eyes to adjust.
“Elena!” a soft voice called in a rushed whisper.
It was Ava.
My breath caught in my throat.
She hurried inside with a small cloth bundle clutched to her chest. “I brought you food,” she said, already kneeling beside me. “Bread, fruit, water—eat quickly.”
I stared at her. “How did you—?”
“I stole the key from the guard while he was flirting with one of the maids,” she said breathlessly. “I didn’t think they’d actually starve you, Elena. I didn’t—”
I didn’t wait. I tore into the bread, barely chewing before swallowing, and downed half the water in the flask. The ache in my stomach eased just a little. My stomach growled in acceptance or maybe protest. I didn't know which one.
Tears rolled down my cheeks as I whispered, “Thank you.”
Ava placed a hand on my shoulder. “You don’t deserve this. You never did.”
“They want me to suffer,” I murmured. “They want me to give up. But I can’t. I won’t.”
“Then don’t,” Ava said, voice trembling. “You have to leave. Tonight.”
I froze. “Leave?”
“You’re not safe here. Samantha’s going to push Damien to kill you next, Elena. You’re carrying someone else’s pup. If it is the Lucien I think you met, then you are not safe here at all. She won’t rest until you’re gone for good.”
I looked down at my belly.
I couldn’t let them be born in this prison. I couldn’t let them grow up hunted or hated.
“I don’t even know where to go,” I whispered.
Ava pulled a small folded map from her apron pocket and pressed it into my hand. “The border woods. There’s a way out, past the east fence. You’ll have to run fast, and stay off the main road, but you can do it. You have to. And the Moon Goddess will guide you the rest of the way.”
I clutched the paper like it was life itself.
“Ava…” My voice broke. “Why are you doing this for me?”
She smiled through her tears. “Because… You remind me of your mother.”
Her words shocked the hell out of me. “W-What?”
A sad smile curled around her lips. “I used to work for your mother and she was the kindest person to me. I left because Samantha’s mother wanted me to join forces to dupe you but I couldn't. Spending the past few days with you already helped in relieving the guilt.” The flesh around her face crinkled as she stared at me dearly.
“Now that I have the means to set you free, I would gladly do that.”
I stood slowly, legs weak but heart racing.
A future.
For me. For my babies.
I looked back at the cold stone cell. At the place they thought would break me.
But it didn’t.
It forged me.
“I’m leaving. Take care.” I whispered.
Ava nodded, stepping aside. “Then go.”
And I did.
Got it—less fragmented, more immersive, more human. I’ll keep the intensity but smooth it into a natural narrative flow with deeper internal voice and richer description.CHAPTER 44LUCIEN’S POVThe moment Elena spoke, I knew we had crossed a line we couldn’t return from.“Drop it.”It wasn’t just a command. It was a claim. The air itself seemed to tighten, as if the world was holding its breath to see who would win.For a heartbeat, nothing happened.Varek didn’t move. His fingers remained locked around the device, knuckles paling, his expression carefully composed—but I saw it. That flicker in his eyes. Not fear.Uncertainty.And the creatures…They trembled.Every single one of them stood rigid, their bodies caught in a silent war between two opposing forces. I could feel it—Elena’s power pressing outward, not wild or chaotic like before, but deliberate. Controlled. Like a blade finding its mark. This wasn’t the same girl who had been on her knees minutes ago, fighting just to brea
Chapter 43ELENA’S POV“Let’s try something new.”The moment those words left his mouth—My body reacted.Pain.Blinding.Instant.Unforgiving.I screamed. It tore out of me before I could stop it, my knees hitting the ground as my hand flew to my side. The mark—It burned. Not like before. Not a warning. Not a signal. This felt like it was being ripped open from the inside.“Elena!” Lucien’s voice came sharp, urgent, right beside me.I barely heard him.Because all I could feel—Was him.Not Lucien.Varek.Inside my head.“You see?” his voice echoed, smooth and satisfied. “Still connected.”“Get out—” I choked, my fingers digging into my skin as if I could tear the mark out.Lucien’s hands grabbed me, firm, grounding.“Look at me,” he demanded. “Elena, look at me.”I tried.God, I tried—But my vision blurred.Split.Two worlds colliding. The clearing—And—The lab.“No…” I whimpered.Cold metal walls flickered into existence around me.Machines.Lights.Chains.“No, no, no—” I shook
Chapter 42LUCIEN’S POVThis was a trap. Not a reckless attack. Not a desperate retrieval.A demonstration.I could see it now in the way they moved. The way they waited.Disciplined.Controlled.Watching for a command. Not wolves. Not soldiers.Something worse.“Elena,” I said under my breath, not taking my eyes off Varek, “when I say run this time… you don’t stop.”Silence behind me.Then—“No.”My jaw tightened.“This is not a debate.”“I’m not leaving you,” she shot back.Something in my chest twisted.Annoying.Inconvenient.Dangerous.“Your presence is a liability right now,” I said coldly.A lie.Because the truth? She was the center of all of this. And that made her the most valuable target—And the most dangerous weapon on the field.“I don’t care,” she said, her voice shaking—but firm. “I’m not running again.”I exhaled slowly.Stubborn.Of all the traits she could have—This one might get her killed.Or me.“Touching,” Varek’s voice cut in smoothly. “Truly.”My gaze snapped
Chapter 41ELENA’S POVRun.That was the last thing Lucien said. And for once—I listened. My legs moved before my mind could catch up, carrying me away from the clearing, away from him—from both of them. The cold night air burned my lungs as I ran blindly through the camp, past fallen guards, overturned crates, flickering firelight that cast everything in chaos and shadow.Don’t stop.Don’t look back. But my heart—My stupid, traitorous heart—Stayed behind. With Lucien.A deafening crack echoed behind me.The ground trembled beneath my feet.I stumbled, catching myself on a wooden post, my breath hitching. They were fighting.Every instinct screamed at me to keep going. To disappear. To survive. But—What if he couldn’t?“No,” I whispered, shaking my head hard. “No, he’s strong. He’s—he’s the Lycan King…”Lucien wasn’t someone who lost.He wasn’t someone who could lose.…right?Another explosion of power ripped through the air.Closer this time.Stronger.I flinched. And then—I fel
Chapter 40LUCIEN’S POV“Inside the camp.”The moment the words left my mouth, everything sharpened.Every sound.Every movement.Every breath.“Elena, stay behind me,” I ordered. She shook her head immediately, panic flashing across her face. “No—you don’t understand—if they’re this close, it means—”“It means they’ve made a mistake,” I cut in, my voice calm—too calm.Because beneath it—Violence waited. Her mark was still glowing.Bright.Unmistakable.A beacon.“They’re tracking you in real time now,” I said, my gaze locking onto it. “That thing is guiding them straight to you.”“I told you,” she whispered, fear creeping into every syllable. “I’m not safe here.”I stepped closer instead.Deliberate.Unyielding.“You’re safest exactly where you are,” I said.“With me.”A sharp rustle outside the tent cut through the moment.Too quiet.Too controlled. Not soldiers. My wolf rose instantly.Enemy.I moved without another word. One hand gripping Elena’s wrist, pulling her behind me as I
Chapter 39ELENA’S POV“Don’t let them take me…”The words slipped from my lips before I could stop them. Before I even realized I was speaking.Darkness surrounded me.Not the peaceful kind. Not sleep. Not rest. This was different.Cold.Endless.Watching.I was back there.“No…” I whispered, turning in place. The air smelled the same.Sterile.Sharp.Wrong.Metal walls.White lights. The low hum of machines that never stopped.“Heart rate unstable.”“Subject resisting again.”“Sedate her.”“STOP!” I screamed. But no sound came out.My chest tightened as panic clawed its way up my throat.I knew this place.Knew what came next.Footsteps echoed behind me.Slow.Measured.Terrifyingly calm.“You’ve always been our most promising one.”My body went rigid. That voice—I turned slowly. And there he was.Dr. Varek.Tall.Composed.That same detached expression on his face, like I wasn’t a person—Just a project.“Stay away from me,” I hissed, stumbling back.He smiled faintly.“You don’t
“Pass me the mugwort leaves,” I said firmly, my hands already pressing down against the wound of the young warrior stretched out on the bed. His breathing came in shallow gasps, sweat slicking his temples, the gash across his ribs refusing to stop bleeding.“Yes, healer,” Mira, my apprentice, rushe
The word twins hit me like a blow to the chest. My hands stilled over the satchel of herbs, the edges of the dried leaves crumbling beneath my fingers. For a moment, I wasn’t in the pack infirmary anymore—I was back in that moonlit garden six years ago, clutching my stomach as Heather’s laughter ec
Chapter 26Six Years Later…LUCIEN’S POV“The kidnappings are getting more intense and the Alphas are calling for meeting with His Royal Highness,” Saint said from across the desk but I was not paying attention. I stopped paying attention that night. That day when my mate disappeared. When she dis
Chapter 22 LUCIEN’S POV “Good morning,” I said the moment I appeared at the entrance of the dining hall. I had been too excited that I was finally going to see Elena and this time, more openly. Her sweet scent wafted into my nostrils even before I stepped into the dining hall. Marco was already
