LOGINIt was very early when someone knocked on my door so hard it almost broke. I immediately opened my eyes and looked at the clock hanging above the bookshelf.
“It's only 5 am,” I muttered. “Who’s that, sis? So noisy!” Adi Complained, so I went to the door and opened it. Standing there was Jenifer. “Hey bestie!! I’ve been here since 3 am!” she said angrily. “You’re too early,” I complained. “What are you saying? The first trip is early, hurry up because we’re leaving!” she said while pushing me. I rushed to change clothes, wearing my expensive outfits, high heels, and putting on heavy makeup. It only took me a few minutes because I needed to look presentable for my first job. I didn’t want my boss to reject me for looking shabby. “Wow Astrid, are we going to America?” Jenifer said sarcastically. “What are you saying? You’re even wearing Chanel. Jen, we need to look presentable for our boss. Of course, we’ll be working in an office, what are you thinking?” I replied, leaving first while carrying my suitcase. I also had three more suitcases brought down from my room, making a total of five. “Take care, and Astrid, behave yourself there,” said Grandma. I just rolled my eyes. “Yeah yeah, whatever,” I said. Adi came down, we exchanged kisses, and then Jenifer and I left. This is it!! I’m so excited. “Do you think our ride will be nice?” I asked Jenifer. “I don’t know, I hope so. I don’t want my Chanel bag to get dirty. Even if it’s not nice, at least we look good,” Jenifer said with a grin. “Of course, we’re gorgeous. My clothes are so expensive, I won’t let them get dirty, no way,” I said, crossing my legs while retouching my makeup. “We’re here, ma’am,” said our driver. He opened the door and we got out. When we stepped down, we were greeted by a dusty road and a crowd of people. “Oh my G!! I don’t want to be here, no-no-no!” Jen said, about to go back to the car, but the driver immediately sped away. “Heyyy come back!!” we shouted, but he couldn’t hear us anymore. “Here??” I said with a questioning tone, My eyes explore the place and I just want to go back to my place. “Yeah, h-here. It looks like a market,” Jen replied. “You’re right, so many vendors, and look, so many people,” I said, pointing at the long lines. “Ma’am, where are you headed?” asked a man. We looked at him from head to toe and both felt disgusted. “Manila!! Manila!! Who’s going to Manila!” another man shouted. “Hello, beautiful ladies, where are you going?” asked another man with a creepy grin. “Manila,” I said in a snooty tone. “Alright, please go over there,” he said. Suddenly, two men grabbed our suitcases. Alarmed, Jen and I chased them despite my heels, and when we caught them, we started hitting them. “Ouch ouch!!” they cried. “Bring back our suitcases!! You thief!!” I shouted while hitting them. “Ma’am, ma’am, please stop!” the man from earlier tried to calm us. “You know, there should be more security here!” I said angrily. “Right!! What if they escaped, and you stopped us!” Jen added. The bald man scratched his head. “Uh, they’re dispatchers. It’s their job so you won’t have a hard time,” he explained. “D-dispatchers?” I said with raised eyebrows. “Yes ma’am, we’re dispatchers,” said one of the men we had beaten. I closed my eyes in embarrassment. “Pay us double. You brought so many heavy suitcases, and you even beat us up,” they demanded. “We’re very sorry, it’s our first time here. What do you call this place?” Jen asked. “This is the bus terminal. The bus to Manila is leaving, so get on already. You’re giving us headaches,” they said. We paid them 1,000 pesos because of what we did. “Oh my, how much money do we have left?” I asked Jen. “Don’t worry, we still have 11,000,” Jen replied, and we sighed in relief. We sat on the bus seats, which were nice because it was air-conditioned. The bus started moving, and after a few hours, I suddenly felt sick. “Oh my, I feel like I’m going to vomit,” I said. “Me too!!” Jen shouted. The passengers looked at us. “Oh my, give us some plastic bags!! My LV will be ruined!!” I screamed. A man quickly came over with plastic bags and handed them to us. Jen and I vomited nonstop, like we were dying, for the three-hour trip. People stared and laughed at us because we had thrown up so much. “I think I’ll die before I reach Manila,” I said weakly. “I feel dizzy,” Jen added. We lay down on our seats, our expensive clothes useless now, looking like drunkards. “Miss, here’s Efficascent,” said a woman. I didn’t care anymore, so I took it. “Just rub a little on your stomach, it will stop the vomiting,” she said. I followed her advice, but I put too much because I wanted it to stop quickly. I gave some to Jen, and she rubbed it above her lip, between her nose and mouth. “Thank you,” I said, and we sat properly again, feeling better because of that strange “perfume.” A few minutes later, the parts we rubbed started to burn and feel spicy. “Oh my G!! What kind of perfume is that!!” I exclaimed. “It’s so spicy!” Jen said. The woman just laughed at us. Jen and I kept complaining until we finally arrived. “Get off!!” shouted the conductor, charging us for the fare. “Here’s our payment, keep the change, buy something nice,” Jen said. “What are you saying? Your change is only two pesos,” he replied, looking at us like we were crazy. We looked like we had been assaulted inside the bus, our hair completely messy. We grabbed our suitcases and staggered out, still dizzy.“APOLLO’S POV” Everything that’s happening right now is still a puzzle to me. I don’t know who or what she really is. Those questions are still stuck in my head. I sighed because I suddenly keep asking things without thinking about what I’m saying. She might notice that I’m still suspicious about their identity—close call. I stood up, about to follow Astrid, when Shaun suddenly spoke. “You’re not serious, are you?” Shaun said. I looked at him, frowning at his question. Psh. This is exactly what I mean. “What are you talking about? Of course I’m serious,” I replied, about to leave when he spoke again. “Give her some space, don’t go there,” Shaun said. I wanted to punch Shaun, but I listened because he had a point. Astrid is still in a stressed state—I don’t want to add to it. “Apollo, it’s not all about you. It’s not all about your loved ones’ safety. What about them? I can read your actions—don’t put Astrid in danger. They won’t do anything to you,” Shaun told me.
I don’t know how to react to what’s happening right now because I didn’t expect this. I don’t even know any enemies of Grandma here—I am innocent. “Hey, let us go!” I shouted, because Jenifer and I were both tied to a very dirty chair. Couldn’t they at least clean it before making us sit there? “What do you even want from us, omg! We’re just freaking maids!! What could you possibly get from us, are you out of your mind!!” Jenifer said angrily, thrashing around. “Shut up already, you’re too noisy!” snapped the bald man’s companion who had grabbed us. “You don’t have the right to shut our mouths because you’re the ones who dragged us here. You don’t even know us, idiots,” I retorted. “Gag them, they’re too noisy. You can let them talk later when Ma’am arrives,” he ordered. I wondered who this “Ma’am” they were talking about could be. My mind refused to process everything that was happening—I couldn’t understand it. “Mhmmmm!!” Jenifer groaned while struggling. “Be quiet!”
We were at the shore, just staring blankly at the waves crashing against the sand. I wanted to swim, but my body didn’t seem to agree. “I–I’m so tired. I don’t feel like doing anything right now,” Jenifer said in a bored tone. I felt the same—so bored. Ever since our conversation, Jenifer and I kept thinking about our feelings. Every single day, these emotions kept bothering us. “Did you get any answers yet?” she asked me. I looked at her and shook my head. I hadn’t found any answers from all my staring and watching the waves. “Ah!! G! Have mercy on us!” Jenifer cried, almost in tears. I wanted to laugh at her antics—she was practically ready to bury her face in the sand. “Crazy. Maybe we should just let our feelings be. We can’t do anything about them anyway, they’re already here,” I sighed. “Ahh!! No way, this isn’t right! We need to clear our feelings, or else we might gamble on the wrong person and end up hurt,” she insisted. She had a point. We could get hurt if
I smiled when Astrid finally left. Right away, I grabbed my phone and called my private investigator. “Hello, Sir,” he greeted me. “Prepare some chocolates and a bouquet of flowers,” I said with a grin. “Copy, Sir,” he replied before ending the call. I quickly stood up and rushed to take a shower. I didn’t realize it would be this easy to make her dance to my tune. I just want to know the truth—I want to uncover her real identity. While showering, I couldn’t help but think about what happened between us last night. A smile crept onto my face. “Sh*t, Apollo, that’s not allowed,” I scolded myself. “You can’t fall in love with that girl. Everything is just an act!” I reminded myself to snap out of it. Afterward, I got dressed and sprayed on a heavy amount of perfume, wanting her to catch my scent even from afar. “Hey.” I turned to see who called me. “Where are you going?” Brix asked. “None of your business,” I replied with a smirk. “Wow, it is my business to m
I woke up because of the heavy weight pressing down on me. Unbelievable—because of how drunk I was, my dreams had gone wild. “Hays, really,” I muttered. When I looked to see who was on top of me, I suddenly felt nervous. “OMG!!” I whispered, frozen, afraid he might wake up. “A-Apollo,” I said, trying to wake him. “Hmm,” he murmured, eyes still closed. I wanted to punch him—damn, my nightmare was real? “A-Apollo,” I called again, shaking him. Slowly, he opened his eyes and gave me a wide smile. “Good morning, sweetie,” he said. Was this real? Was I not dreaming? I pinched my cheek. “It’s not a dream, it’s real. You didn’t tell me you’re wild in bed,” he teased. I blushed at his words, embarrassed beyond belief. I couldn’t remember anything from last night because of how drunk I was. “Are you okay? Do you feel pain down there?” he asked, moving off me. “Kind of,” I admitted, unable to look him in the eye. Aish!! Did I really go for round two? Seriously?!
After that failure, we never tried plan B again because Brix and Mico got smacked. “Ahh!! I hate them, such a waste. I could’ve experienced that again if not for Brix and Shaun’s stupidity,” Jenifer complained, still unable to move on even though two days had already passed. During those two days, Apollo kept taking me out. Sometimes he even accompanied me to visit Bon Bon, of course along with the “boys over flowers” who acted like girls were chasing after them. “What should I do? It’s like I became a red flag to Shaun because of those two,” Jenifer said, pouting. “You’ve been sulking about Shaun for two days now. Shaun this, Shaun that. But does Shaun even mention your name all the time?” I asked her. She looked at me with a scowl. “You’re such a terrible bonding partner. It’s because you’re always with Apollo, acting all sweet with him,” she said, as if it was my fault Apollo treated me that way—even though I didn’t really like it… well, maybe just a little. “It’s not
