After the game, Jagger wanted to spend some time with me alone. My dad said he would just drop her at my mom’s house with me. I was nervous to be alone with her. I knew she wanted to talk more about us, since she was leaving soon to go back to Texas.

“Oh shoot, my dad is here,” she said, with a disappointed look.

“I’ll call you tomorrow. Are you still coming to the New Year’s Eve party?” I asked.

“I wouldn’t miss seeing you in a tight l, sparkly dress for the world,” she said, moving my loose curls behind my ears.

I kissed her one last time before she ran off to meet her dad. I hated that I would probably be breaking her heart tomorrow, but I didn’t know what else to do. Keegan Patts was the love of my life and I had to see if we could save that narrative.
