Chapter 4

Lindsay's Pov

“Why are you here?”

I freaked our and covered my chest with my hands.

When Bishop saw that, he sneered. “This is my house. You better figure out what situation you’re in right now.”

He was right. I was just a Rogue now. The only reason I survived is he showed mercy and saved me.I was at this person’s mercy to have a place to stay right now.

“So, why did you save me?”

Bishop smirked. “Don’t you know?”

He walked over to look down at me. He was so much taller and I felt the pressure.

I could clearly smell the tequila scent he has again. It was undeniably intense.

“What are you going to do?” I looked at him warily.

Bishop smiled. He then suddenly pushed me down on the mattress, trapping me between it and him.

He asked, “What do you think I’m going to do?”

I could feel his hair brushing on my forehead. He was getting too close.

He fixed his amber eyes right on my collar.

His scent enveloped me tightly.

I could feel the heat of his chest through the air.

I was embarrassed  and thought that he was kinda rude.

Just as I was about to push Bishop away, he straightened up.

“To be honest, I shouldn’t have bothered to save you if it wasn’t for the sake of the mate bond.”

I was shocked. He knew!

He could sense that I was his mate. So it was not just me who felt it.

The joy of mating rushed over me. “Then, we—”

“There’s no we. I won’t acknowledge you as my mate,” he said coldly all of a sudden. “I only saved you for my own sake.”

He frowned with that familiar disgust in his eyes again.

I didn’t even know if it’s him hating me or hating himself. Maybe he felt disgusted that he had to save a rogue.

“So, what do you want me to do?”Sorrow filled my heart. He didn’t have any feeling for me at all.

But I had to follow what he wanted, because I had nowhere to go and no one to rely on.

“I’m looking for a solution for my mating heat. You are undoubtedly the most suitable choice,” he said matter-of-factly, as if he was talking about a common matter.

“You want me to be your fucking sex toy?”

I asked as I gritted my teeth. Rage was welling up inside my heart.

It was simply humiliating to call me a ‘solution’t.

“Of course, and I won’t mistreat you.” He turned around, took out a document from the drawer and handed it to me.

It turned out to be a ‘problem solving’ agreement.

He had irritated me completely. I roared furiously, “What do you take me for?”

I stared at him with anger.

He did not care about me at all.

Instead, he looked disgustingly confident about his decision, “Don’t you want to know who killed Kristen?”

I froze abruptly.

He continued, “As a reward of being a good mistress, I can help you find out the truth about Kristen and clear your name. Of course, I can even give you money.”

“What do you even get by humiliating me?”

“Interpret it however you want. It’s none of my business,” He said in the coldest tone.

“I’ll grant you time to think about it. But you know, my patience runs out easily.”

He turned around and walked toward the door. “Now, come out and have breakfast.”

After washing myself up, I went to the living room.

I lost my appetite as I looked at the food on the plate.

It was crêpe that Kristen loved the most... Unfortunately, she could no longer eat it.

Did I really have to agree to Bishop’s shameless request?

I could not let Kristen die in vain, but—

Just as I was lost in thought, something fluffy suddenly ran past my feet.

Before I could see that creature clearly, I stumbled forward uncontrollably.

“Are you that thirsty?”

Disgust flashed across Bishop’s eyes as his hands were stuck right under my arms.

His palms were so cold, giving me goosebumps.

I stood up quickly with a searing hot in my ears.

And I saw the creature was crouching next to my feet.

It was a pure gray coyote. Judging by its size, it was just several months old.

I looked at Bishop in disbelief. “Is this your kid? It can shapeshift at such a young age?”

Bishop’s eyes twitched. “This isn’t my kid.”

“Is it Carmen’s then?”

“...It is not hers either.”

“So, is it your bastard?” I blurted out in shock.

Bishop frowned and looked at me. He’s angry. Again.

I suddenly thought about the fact that he was also a bastard of Alpha Bishop, so I bit my lip in embarrassment.

Damn it! He’d kill me. He definitely will.

However, Bishop did not so much as flinch at my comment.

He pushed his dinner plate. “He’s a pet wolf I adopted. His name is Jude.”

“You adopted him?”

Yes. Older wolves were already dead when I picked him up, so I brought him back.”

“I didn’t expect someone like you to have compassion.”

Bishop narrowed his eyes. “Are you mocking me?”

“I wouldn’t dare.”

Jude was still crouching next to my feet, staring at me with his big, round eyes and sticking his tongue out. He’s a cute puppy.

Did he... want to eat something?

I cut a piece of crêpe and fed it to Jude. The little guy finished it quickly and rubbed his head against my ankle.

Just as I was about to cut another piece for him, someone pushed the bathroom door open.

Carmen came out of the bathroom, stretching herself with a yawn. “Why are guys eating without me?”

“You’re so slow my dear.” Bishop shrugged and put a forkful of food into his mouth.

Carmen glared at him. After fixing her eyes on a certain spot, she gaped.

“Oh gosh! Jude has never taken the initiative to get close to others. How did you do it?” She was amazed.

“I just fed him some food.”

I smiled.

“He must really like you.”

Carmen held Jude in her arms and tickled him.

After breakfast, Carmen and Jude played in the living room while Bishop cleaned the kitchen.

I stood by the kitchen door watching him moving.

When he passed by me, I tugged at his sleeve.

Bishop glanced at my fingertips and fixed his eyes on my face like a hook, but he did not say a word.

I mustered my courage and asked, “Who killed Kristen?”

“Do you want to know?”

I nodded.

Looking indifferent, he let out each word clearly, “Sign the contract and offer yourself in exchange for the intel. Otherwise, the deal is off.”
