Chapter 14

When Bishop saw that I was motionless, he shot a sideway glance at me. “What’s wrong? Are you afraid I’ll eat you up?”

I gritted my teeth and followed him.

He lit a cigarette as he sat on the couch in the living room. After taking a few long puffs of the cigarette, he fixed his gaze on my face and asked in a deep voice, “You’ve been living a cozy life.”

I frowned. “What do you mean?”

Bishop exhaled a puff of smoke, and his lips curled into a faint smile. “Who was that kid just now?”

“It’s none of your business.”

Bishop scoffed. He then flicked the cigarette butt and said slowly, “You better figure out where you currently stand and not do anything that will piss me off.”

“I’ve pissed you off, haven’t I?”

He had not had a proper talk with me since the photo frame was broken.

I reached into my bag involuntarily and brushed the corner of the photo frame with my palm. It was almost complete.

Perhaps he would not treat me so harshly anymore.

In any case, I still needed to rely on his help.
