Shit. Shit. Shit. This fucking night went to hell fast. I wasn’t sure what to do. It was probably the driver, wondering where Matthew was. Currently, he was tied up in my basement. I didn’t even know enough to know if I could knock him out. The chains seem to be holding. “I’ll be right back.” I said as I climbed the stairs. After shutting the door, I pushed against it a few times to make sure it was indeed shut and put the padlock on it. Hopefully, that holds. To be fair, what would be even do if he got out? Who would or could he even tell? That a little woman overpowered him? My heart was racing as I walked to the front door. After peaking through the window, it was the driver. “What?” I said, annoyed as I opened the door. “Is-is Mr. Collins-” He tried to look behind me. “Mr. Collins is occupied. I will have him returned after I complete my duties.” I half lied. Not the duties he wanted me to do, but the duties I needed to do, to save the world. “Understood.” He tipped his hea
"Oh, come on! I don’t know that!” Matthew whined. I was getting tired of beating around the bush. I tried playing nice, but Jet’s words ran through my head. I needed to be firm. Being nice isn’t always the answer. Pushing my aura out, I let it wrap around him and push. His neck was bowed and arched so much that I actually wondered if I could snap his neck. “STOP, STOP!” he yelled through gritted teeth. “I’m done being nice. Answer the question.” “I honestly don’t know… exactly. Last I heard was around Prague. That has always been their home.” That really got my attention. Could they really be alive still? I pulled my aura back a little. Matthew breathed a sigh of relief as he straighten his back, but he couldn’t fully relax. “Names?” I asked. “Some old names. I don’t really know. The only one I have ever met was Estella, and she was fucking crazy.” “How so?” “We went to Prague to look for … items.” Matthew narrowed his eyes at me. I didn’t care what items he wanted, thoug
The car came to an abrupt halt. We must be by the dump sight. So far, it wasn’t looking good for Matthew, but he was holding his own. I heard their doors open and slammed shut before the trunk opened up. They hoisted me out first and then Jet. I was probably a hundred meters walked before they dropped me hard on the ground. “What is going on here?” I heard Matthew asked, annoyed. “We have been to the house. It looks staged. So tell me, what really happened? Are they actually dead?” I heard Mr. McClear’s voice. It sounded more evil with each word. “Yes, they are. Tell me, do you not trust me?” Matthew sounded angry. “Whoa! A gun? Really?” Shit. This isn’t good. “I dont believe you.” Boom! The gun went off. I felt a sharp hot pain in my foot but it wasn’t my pain, it was Jet’s. “Oh look, blood that is flowing still.” “We need a distraction.” Jet mutter in the mind-link. The pain in his voice was heartbreaking. I didn’t know what to do. “Like what?” I asked Jet. “Make it rain.”
“Wonderful.” I said as I leaned back in my chair. If he thought I was going anywhere until I knew how Jet was doing, he was fucking wrong. My legs were crossed and so were my arms, so when he walked up to me, I was not giving off an inviting vibe. “Let’s go.” “I suggest you sit down and shut up because we are not leaving until Jet is out of surgery and you are not leaving until I am ready to go.” I said through gritted teeth. “Fine, but it will be your ass when the boss is made because you made him wait.” “What will he do? Shoot the daughter of a god? It’s not like that could even kill me.” I said the last part, but come to think of it, I wasn’t sure that was actually true. What would happen if I do die? I mean, Adron doesn’t want me dead, per se. “I wouldn’t want to find out.” He said as he sank into a chair. I didn’t mean to wait here. “What was your name?” I asked. He told me the other guy’s name, but not his. “Dalton.” “What do you know of vampires going missing?” I asked
I stayed behind them as they knocked twice quickly and the third time after a few seconds. Vampires have secret knocks. I found it a little funny and had to work on keeping my face passive. It felt like something out of a horror movie the way the door opened. My ears hurt from the squeaking rusted hinges. However, my breath was taken away when I walked into the foyer. It was massive. They covered the marble floor in a circle rug of red, blue and black. It sat directly under the crystal chandelier that hung from the third story. The second and third story balconies looked over the foyer with grand staircases circling down from each side. Massive painted portraits hung with name placks under them around the walls. “He has been waiting for you.” The butler said. It surprised me to see the butler was human, but when I noticed red marks poking out from his collar, I understood his role. He looked older but still got along okay. The salt and pepper hair made him look more like a silver fo
I wasn’t sure what I was expecting, but this wasn’t it. Orpheus was a taller man with his hair in a man bun at the base of his neck. His red eyes really made his very chiseled jaw line pop. Even with being on the skinnier side, he was dressed slightly more in old school than what you would see in a magazine. I had to glance back at Estella. She looked nothing like her father, so she must take after her mother. With long curly hair that went to her butt, it was almost a brownish red. Her petite frame was on display, with a very modern dress. Cassius and Andreas looked like younger versions of their bad but with short hair and more muscle. “I have multiple reports on my desk about a wolf causing a great deal of disturbance around here.” Orpheus took the head seat with either boy on both sides. “I apologize for that. No one would point me to you and instead, tried to kill me after auctioning me off. I don’t exactly take kindly to that… either.” I said, trying to sound polite but firm.
“That would require you to agree to work with witches and wolves in taking down Adron.” “Do you know Adron?” Jet asked, speaking for the first time. Orpheus looked at Jet. His eyes studied him as Jet kept his face passive. “I first met him over 100 years ago. Maybe more like 500. Who knows? After all these years, it blends together. However, I was… entertaining a lady friend at a party and when I went to get us drinks, he stole her from me. Obviously, we disagreed and had many issues but we have put our difference aside. Now, we co-exist decently. I can’t imagine him wanting to kill the vampire species.” “What would it take for me to prove to you that I’m not lying? Allow you access to the vamolves so you can see for yourself? Done. Would you like to fight one? Done. We can take you to some. Would you like to ask Adron himself? I’m sure I can find him easy enough. He is my uncle, after all.” “I like you. You got spunk.” Cassius said, smiling at me. Jet’s chest started rumbling.
“I think I am good.” I said as I looked at myself in the mirror. After showering, I had picked out clothes to wear today. They were comfortable to travel in but still work appropriate. Keeping it simple with a flowy light purple blouse and black dress shorts. Thankfully, they had sandals in my size. “Good. It is almost time to leave.” Jet was buttoning up his white shirt. He picked a loose fitting jeans but still tight enough that I could see his shapely ass. What surprised me was the boots he picked out to wear with it. “This is going to be a long flight.” I said to Jet. “That it will be. I would say try to keep your temper, but that was fucking sexy last night.” Jet came up behind me and slipped his arms around my waist. His lips gently kissed my neck, causing goosebumps to travel down my spine. “Keep that up and we will miss our flight.” I laughed. Knock! Knock! Knock! Jet sighed and walked over to the door. “Hello.” He said as he opened it. “It’s time.” A butler said. “
