Chapter 5

Basil

We're waiting in Dr. Papadakis' office. Layla wrings her hand from nervousness.

"Everything will be fine, Dr.Papadakis is one of the best doctors, you and our child are in good hands." I assured her.

"It's not that, what if something's wrong? What if the baby is growing in the wrong place? Like an ectopic pregnancy and they have to terminate it." She panics, I rub her hands willing her to calm down.

"It will be fine feggari mou."

The door opens and a petite woman in her 50's walks in.

"Hello, I'm Dr. Papadakis. I will be your doctor for the duration of your pregnancy." She shakes each of our hands.

"I heard that you took a test, since tests aren't 100% accurate I'm going to draw some blood." She puts on some gloves and takes some items out the cabinet. Coming around to face Layla she ties a rubber strap around her arm.

"This will only pinch a little." She inserts the needle into her arm, filling two tubes of blood.

"I'll be back in just a sec." Leaving the room Layla turns to m
