Tristan

"Mr. Smith. Your work looks amazing. It's so good that I want to put you on fire for it."

He didn't understand for a minute but then realisation dawned in him. Stupid man.

"Sir, please. I really need this job, I have a fami-" that pathetic man tried to beg. This is the part I dread whenever I fire someone. It's so annoying. Just accept it and move on. Pathetic people.

"Well if it was that important to you, you should have done your work sincerely. This report is two weeks delayed, not to mention it's filled with mistakes. Now, you may leave." I said calmly, this man is giving me a headache.

"Sir-" I gave him a pointed look which shut him up.

After that nagging man left, I threw my head back on the chair and pinched the bridge of my nose. My head is killing me, I need to get outside.

I stood up and wore my jacket and left the office. On my way out, everyone kept on greeting and bowing to me. I nodded in acknowledgment.

I walked out of the office and the fresh air seemed to soothe my aching head. I walked down the streets to the small alley. It's a very peaceful society here. I brought a few apartments around here where I lived during my college years. Now I live in a private colony away from the hustle of the city.

I saw a small cafe around the corner. Must be new here. Well I haven't been here for quite awhile. The cafe looked small and cosy. Perfect for some relaxing time.

I entered the cafe and saw a waitress wiping the table. She turned around and I felt like the wind blew on my face. She paused for a moment. Her light olive green eyes seemed to talk with my own grey ones. After she came out of her trance, she greeted me. Her voice, it was like a melody to my ear. So sweet and soft.

She asked me what I wanted and I ordered an espresso with no sugar. She took my order then bowed. She turned around and went to the counter where the espresso machine was. While she was making it, I studied her features.

Olive green eyes with thick long lashes protecting her eyes. Jet black hair shining in the daylight. Pouty lips and a pointed button nose. She seemed to look like a doll. Her small petite frame looked like she would get hurt if a leaf touched her. Her skin looked like water would spill out of them if it was touched. All in all, she looked perfect to me.

She lifted up her eyes and I kept mine on her. I don't care if I look like a creep, I just want to see her. I noticed a small red tint coating her cheeks.

She put her gaze down and came towards me with the cup of espresso. She put it down and went somewhere I couldn't see her. I sighed then took the cup in front of me. I lightly blew on it and took the first sip. It felt like heaven. It tasted devine. I think I will be coming here often and I would be lying if I said it will be only for espresso.

She came back after a while and continued to clean the tables. She looked cute in her uniform. At that moment, someone walked in. It was a group of guys. They sat in the middle of the cafe. One of the guys was eyeing her head to toe. I didn't like it. All of a sudden, she didn't look as cute as I thought she looked in that uniform. Scratch that, she didn't look cute in it at all and I wanted to tell her to change. I don't know why, I have no right and I shouldn't tell her to do something. I just met her but it feels like I have every right over her. I shook my head and finished the espresso. I threw some money on the table and left from there.

After that, I went directly to my office. I sat down on the seat and she was all I could think about. Her face, her voice, the way she moves, everything about her. She consumed my mind in just ten minutes of seeing her.

I need to stay focused, it's not time for this. I need to build a life before I search for a life partner. This is only the start of my life, I can't let my mind slip right now. Thousands of girls came into my life and I have been with hundreds but no one stole my gaze upon the first gaze like she did.

I closed my eyes for a second and her face appeared in front of my eyes. I opened my eyes, again she appeared in front of me. I shook my head and this time, it finally stopped. I can't let myself be in love at a time like this. And I'm pretty sure she's a 16 years old highschooler. She's too young. And I shouldn't be interested in a minor. Yes she's a minor, I know it. She's too young for me and I can't have her.

With that thing on my mind, I called my secretary in. I have a lot of work to do. He came in and asked why I needed him. I told him to tell me my schedule for the day and I may or may not have told him to investigate a certain person I saw today.

At that time, my mom walked in. She immediately brought a smile to my face. My mom and dad are my biggest supporters. The best people I have ever met in my life will be them. They are the kindest and have a heart of gold. I learned everything from them but one major thing I learned from them is to never be too polite to anybody. My father was way too polite to some people and later got betrayed by them. So I learnt to never trust someone hundred percent.

Mom came to hug me and I also got up to hug her. She kissed my cheek and sat down. She still treats me like a child and I don't mind as long as there is no one else. I mean I don't want people to find out how soft hearted I am with my family.

"How are you, my boy?" Mom asked me.

"I am fine, mom. How are you?"

"I'm also fine. Did you have lunch yet?"

"Not yet. Where is dad? Haven't heard from the old man for quite a long time."

"Oh he's been busy you can say. You know his obsession over horses is growing day by day and it's getting out of control. Last month, he brought two horses even though he has countless already. Yesterday he brought another two horses and we had a huge fight over it. Don't tell him but those horses are very beautiful."

I chuckled. My parents are adorable and this is their daily routine. They fight over silly little things and later mend it out. I think mom likes it though. She loves the after care she gets after they fight. Dad spoils her so much. I want a life partner like my mom.

"You and dad are so childish." I told her while smiling.

"Oh you won't understand it until you experience it. It's so fun I'm telling you. Maybe not to your dad but it's so fun for me. I love messing around with him." Mom said while also smiling. "By the way Stan, what about that girl you went on a date with last week? Was she cute? Was she up to your liking?"she asked me. Here it comes, the main purpose of her visitation.

"No mom, she was annoying and a gold digger." I said.

Last week she made me go on a blind date with this girl named Hannah. She was like a fishbone stuck in my throat. The few minutes I spent with her, I felt like I couldn't breathe. She kept on talking about materialistic things and what she bought and what she wanted to buy. She gave off the red flag right from the start.

"Come on Stan, she was cute. I have seen her before. Maybe she was nervous and didn't know what to talk about." Mom tried to convince me for another upcoming date, I knew it already.

"No mom-" I was saying when there was a knock on the door. I allowed the person to come in and it was my secretary.

He walked in with a file and said "Sir, here are some documents you need to sign and here is the investigation paper of the girl who works in the cafe you asked for." Great, this idiot.

"Which girl is it, Stan?" Mom asked me with a knowing smile. I glared at my secretary. This fool is going to have it.

"No one mom." I said, trying to cover up.

"Let me see." She said and tried to snatch the report. I was quick to move it out from her reach.

"Mom it's no one." I tried to convince her.

"If it's no one then let me see." She tried again.

"Mom, It's-"

"Tristan, give me that, Right. Now." She warned me. She knows I won't disobey her if she does that.

I hand her the report. She opens it and analyse the details. She then took out a picture and smiles.

"Stan, she is so cute!" she tells me with a smile. I also smile. "But she's only seventeen. She is still a minor."

Seventeen. She's not that young. "Mom, I don't know. I just saw her today. I didn't even get to check." I told her.

"Okay but be careful. Teenagers these days are not that trustworthy. If things get serious then let me know. Bring her for dinner someday, I would love to meet her." She started. I know this is not going to stop anytime soon.

"Mom, let's go have lunch. It's pretty late and I'm kind of hungry. Let's go." I got up and took mom's bag in my hand. If she starts, I know she won't stop anytime soon.

"I am not going to forget about this one, Stan." she tells me. I nod. She is going to get deep into it.
