Melody

I woke up from the sound of birds chirping near my window. I smiled and thanked the universe for granting me another day to live. I signed and got up from the bed and immediately excruciating pain shot through my spine. This bed is too hard to be comfortable but I need to be grateful for everything. At least I have a bed to sleep on.

I went to the kitchen to make breakfast for me and my foster parents. I ate and went to my room to get ready. I have a pretty decent room you can say. It's just that the bed is a little too uncomfortable and the paint of the wall is chipping off. But it's alright, it's nothing major. I have a beautiful balcony though. I love to sit there and write poems.

Anyways I got ready to go to school. It's a five minute walk from where I live. So I don't have to hurry. I threw on a hoodie and sweatpants and I'm ready to go. I tied a high ponytail as always and got my backpack, knocked on my parents door and left the house.

I reached school right on time and made my way inside with my head low. You see, I'm the famous nerd of this school. And people love to bully me. I don't know why though, because I've never done anything bad for them to do it. I just mind my own business.

Anyways I walked inside my first class and boom, I'm soaked in water. Before I could recover from that shock, I'm already dumped in flour. Or you can say it is dumped on me. Great way to start a new day.

I wiped the flour out of my eyes and opened them, only to find out the culprit behind my current situation. Who is none other than my bully, Steven. He started to laugh and with him, everyone else did too.  I didn't cry or break down though. I never did it in front of them. And I do not wish to ever, as well.

I made my way to my seat while everyone was still laughing and put my bag on the bench. I left it there and went to the restroom to clean up.

This is nothing new. It's not even the worst. He did so many more cruel things to me and this one doesn't even count. It's nothing to weep over. I started to wash up as much as I could but it was of no use. They dunked water before flour so it's sticking to me like a second skin. I could do nothing. I went to my locker in case I had anything spare to wear, but I found Steven leaning over it.

"Oh well, if it's not our cookie dough here." He said with taunt. I ignored him and went closer to my locker.

"Are you going to ignore me now, little mouse?" He asked.

"Why would you need my attention to start with?" I questioned back.

"Well the little mouse grew a mouth I see." He said.

"Are you that dumb? Since when mice didn't have mouths?" I asked, annoyed. I don't know if he really is dumb but he shut his mouth. I mean he could have said mice can't talk but yeah whatever.

I opened my locker and by miracle, I had a spare cloth left. I guess I expected this already to be prepared. I took them and went to the washroom again to change.

By the time I was finished, the warning bell already rang so I had to sprint towards the classroom. I made it right on time just before the teacher could enter the class. The teacher walked in and the lecture started.

The school finally finished and I packed my bag up. I have work today so I was in a rush. But alas, it wasn't my lucky day. I found Steven standing in front of the school gate. I sneaked out of there with the crowd and when his eyes found me, he shouted my name out loud. But I ran before he could come and catch me.

I finally made it to my work, drenched in sweat. I entered and my co-worker Aliya waved at me. I waved back and made my way towards the back room to get ready. It was a hectic day so far. I had a lot of classes to attend and I'm very tired right now. I wish I could sleep but sleeping won't earn my bread. So I have to get ready before someone comes to check.

I wore my work clothes which were very uncomfortable. It's a mini skirt with a cropped T-shirt. I managed to get a bigger size somehow. When I came here, they didn't have many uniforms left and this was the smallest they could find. I got lucky you can say. After some time, they brought new uniforms and asked me if I wanted to change, but I refused. You would be shocked to hear but our boss is a woman. I mean like it's a very uncomfortable dress and as a woman she should understand it, that's all I'm saying. Don't take double meaning in it.

I got ready and started my work. I mainly make espressos but sometimes I help with baking. It's one of my hobbies but I do it frequently because my foster mother hates the smell. I mean how can she hate the smell of freshly baked cookies and bread!? I drool whenever I get those smells.

Yet I can't complain because it's her house, her rules. And I'm extremely grateful that I got shelter from them. They are good people. They never had a child of their own so they took me in. Even so, I think there is a backstory. There has to be one. Because I've heard my foster mother cry while saying my baby a few times. I don't know anything though. And I don't want to mix in their personal life.

I was cleaning the table when a customer walked in. I turned around to greet them when I felt my breath get caught in my throat. The most attractive man I've ever seen in this world walked in with so much grace. He felt like a walking dream.

I wondered but shook my head out of the gutter. I need to focus, this is my working spot, not a day dreaming place. I cleared my throat and greeted him.

"Good evening, sir. Please take a seat. How may I help you?" I asked. Aliya was nowhere to be found in a matter of minutes.

" I would like an espresso. No sugar." He said in his deep voice. Felt like butterflies were having a disco party inside my tummy.

"As you say, sir." I bowed respectfully.

He's so handsome! I feel like I gonna pass out and I'm not even joking. Maybe I'm reacting too much but this man deserves it all. His grey eyes, dark black hair, olive skin, everything about him. Who is this man?
