Yuki's POV

I'd already called the taxi.

The taxi lights were flashing, the driver waving impatiently for me to get in, and all I wanted to do was crawl into the back of it, have him drive me home to Tokyo, and make the last twenty minutes never have existed.

Then I heard him.

"YUKI!"

I turned around.

Creed. Taking off from the hotel like a mad romantic from the bad romcom, jacket blowing open, hair disheveled, desperation in his eyes.

I turned around quickly. "Tokyo, please. Can you drive me to Tokyo?"

The cab driver blinked. "To.Tokyo?"

"Yes, Tokyo!" I waved my hand, voice getting higher. "Quickly, please."

Before Creed could even register what I was saying, he caught up. His hand intercepted mine just as I was about to reach for the car door.

"Yuki, wait—"

The cab driver looked at us hesitantly, as if choosing whether to intervene or not.

Creed didn't even blink. He pulled out a hundred-dollar bill—like it was chicken change—and gave it to the man.

"Sorry. He's not going anywhere."

  • PRETEND PRINCESS   GET TO KNOW YOU

(Creed's POV)We returned to the suite, and for once, I wanted time to freeze. Not because Yuki had consented—and yes, he had thoroughly consented—but because I wanted to just be with him. I would glance at my phone as it rang consecutively through work calls. Each time, I would flip it over or silence it. I had other things to think about.Yuki had agreed. Those three words had echoed in my head like a refrain since he'd said them. It was as if my world had finally settled, finally balanced on its axis, turning about a pole which had been bent too long. Him. Joy stuffed my heart so full that I worried I might suffocate on it.The second we closed the door behind us, I didn't think. I turned to get a good look at him—Yuki, in the middle of the room, gleaming and unreal. Somehow beautiful and other in a way that I still hadn't deciphered. He looked amazing, as always, but this time he looked. my own.He smiled at me, a sweet smile, the kind that hurt my heart agonizingly. And then he

  • PRETEND PRINCESS   A ROOM FULL OF BARKING AND BELLYACHES

(Lily's POV)Pregnancy was beautiful, they said. A miracle, they said.Well, whoever "they" were needed to be drop-kicked into the sun.My back ached. My waist was suspended by threads, or so it seemed. My ankles were puffy and I hadn't seen my toes in what felt like a decade. I was fatigued after sleeping and yet, somehow, I couldn't sleep through the night.I missed Dan. Oh God, I missed him. His voice, his laughter, the way he always knew the right spot on my back to massage. He would be home in three weeks, and each tick of the clock seemed to take forever.More than that, though, I missed Yuki.I missed his chaos. His boisterous, rowdy energy. I missed the scent of his outrageously floral shampoos that clung to my pillows long after he'd left. I missed how he teased me about my cravings and how he used to mimic my stride now that my belly had officially transformed me into a waddle. I missed my best friend.I was stretched out on the couch in my new house—a plain cream-painted ro

  • PRETEND PRINCESS   BE MY BOYFRIEND

(Yuki's POV)I must have slept.Again.The warm heat enveloping my body was not from the hotel room heating but from the duvet, which had been carefully pulled around me. I blinked the sleep out of my eyes, then very gradually lifted my head. Light flooded the suite in the morning through the half-drawn curtains, sending gold lines across the carpet. Creed had positioned himself in front of the closet, wearing a dark gray business suit with a jacket that clung to his body in all the right places, tie already tied, shoes buffed. His hair, clammy to the touch, still possessed that unwashed beauty I was beginning to grow used to.He turned when I moved, his face lighting up. He approached me and leaned down a bit, kissing my forehead gently enough to cause me to burrow further into the blankets."Hey, sleepyhead."I stretched and yawned. "What time did you get back from last night?"He smiled sheepishly and scratched his hand through his hair. "I didn't. I just got back about an hour ago

  • PRETEND PRINCESS   NO ORDINARY QUESTION

Yuki's POVFinally, after what might have been an eternity, the kiss was finished. My lips throbbed, puffed up, numb.My lungs were laboring to keep up, my breathing shuddering through me in desperate gasps. I'd clung to Creed as if gravity had ceased to exist. My back against the wall of the alley, my legs still loosely around his waist. The room spun, but all I saw—all I saw—was him.Creed Malcolm. He looked at me like I was steak and he a starving man locked in a kitchen for weeks. And then he did something I didn't possibly think. His hand crept between us, cupped the front of my pants—and grasped. "Shit—Creed—" I gasped, voice trembling. The moan that tore free was hideously loud, raw, ravenous, a sound born of both pleasure and sheer shock. I was so sensitive. Like a live wire."Fuck," I groaned, forehead falling onto his shoulder. He started stroking me through the denim.Slow at first, teasing. My hips jerked unwillingly, searching for friction. His breath was hot against

  • PRETEND PRINCESS   WHAT I THOUGHT I KNEW

Creed's POVDinner was incredible.Like, completely incredible. One of the greatest dinners I'd ever had in more than a month. Not for the food.—though, yeah, it was awesome—but for the company.Yuki.Every single laugh. Every single teasing glance. Every smug little smile when he caught me staring too long. It had untethered something deep within me, something I'd been holding too tight for too long.I hadn't been so light, so whole, since that night among the stars. The night before everything was taken away. The night before I found the person my heart had secretly begun to desire… was a man. My same. My opposite. My mirror. And it sent me spinning out of control. Now, in the suite, I sat on the couch in the living room, jacket aside, shoes off, still trying to wrap my head around the fact that I was here—with him. Again.Yuki was everywhere. Literally. He strode the suite with an astounding whirlwind. To the suitcase, first. Then to the bathroom. Then to the suitcase, again. Then
