Kylie gazed at him. She was probably gawking without her realization. He had piercing silver eyes that seemed to penetrate deep into her very soul. And those chiseled jaw and slightly broad shoulders. Where has she seen this face before?
Leo cleared his throat realizing that she was having a grip on him than he least expected.
"I presume that you were taught not to leave a visitor standing by the door." he said rudely snapping her out of her thoughts.
How rude!she thought to herself and disliked him immediately.
"You presumed wrong mister. I was rather taught to leave visitors standing by the door. It is left to them if they wanna come in or keep standing in the cold." She retorted and with that retreated back to the dinner table.Leo had a glint of amusement in his eyes. People cowered at his mere presence and when he speaks they trembled, but not her.
She didn't have any hint of fear when she retorted. He didn't like it one bit but he was intrigued. He walked into the house. "Sorry I'm late." he said when he got to the dinning room.Kylie huffed. "Now,who's trying to be mister nice guy?" she muttered bitterly to herself."That's an habit you need to work on son." Rio said.
"Now,now, don't scold the poor boy,"Carina said charmingly. "Come sit down dear." she said and he gave her the million dollar smile.Kylie huffed again. If only this dinner would end quickly.
Leo kissed his mother on her cheek."Carina, this is Leonard Michaelson, the CEO of LM Tech. The brain behind all these technologies we use in this our modem world." She said clearly proud of her son's achievement.
Kylie rolled her eyes. Mothers!always wanting to show off their children's achievements and...wait,did she just say LM Tech? Kylie leaned back in chair.
LM Tech was the biggest technology company right here in London. Her company even makes use of some of their products.
Now she knew why he looked so familiar. She has seen him on TV and cover pages of magazines. He was enlisted on one of those magazines 'the most eligible bachelor in London'.Her mother was so thrilled while her father complemented him.
Leo's gaze remained fixed on Kylie when he was introduced to her. For no reason,Kylie suddenly lost the urge to continue eating. Could this night get any worse?"Let's make a toast." Carina said still beaming with smiles. Everyone raised their glasses.
"Cheers to the new union between us." she said."Union?" Kylie and Leo said at once.
Kylie looked at her father to give her an hint of what was going on but he stared at her aloofly. Oh yes,it just got worse. Her mother giggled. "Oh silly me," she said taking a sip from her glass. "Carina here and I have decided to bond our friendship by getting you and Leo married." she said smiling without a care of what impact it would have on Kylie.
"What?!" They yelled in unison. Shock on both their faces.
"You have got to be kidding me." Kylie said trying her best not to react badly in front of the guests but she couldn't help it. "You want me to marry him?!" she said in a brittle tone.Leo leaned back. So this is what this was all about. He thought to himself.
He gave a look at his parents, his eyes held questions and fury but he would rather remain conserved than make a scene.
Henry rose to his feet. "Thanks for coming Mr Rio." he said and Rio stood up too. "The pleasure is ours Mr Henry,"he adjusted his necktie. "I believe it's time to take our leave." he said again.
Carina gave Lucinda a hug. "See you soon dear friend." she said.
"Thanks for having me for dinner Mrs Shell." Leo said to Carina."You're welcome anytime." she said still beaming without thinking of what Kylie had in mind.Kylie was seething in rage as she watched the Michaelson's walk out of the house.Immediately they were gone,Kylie turned to her mother ready to explode her anger.
"What did you say about my marriage with some stranger?" Kylie asked angrily."Oh that,"she said reluctantly. "Martha, tell Mary to come clear the table." she said walking out of the dinning room.
"Mom I'm talking to you." Kylie said following her."Sweetie, you heard me clearly when I said I want you married to Lucinda's son." she replied nonchalantly.
"How could you go behind my back, arranging for some marriage with a total stranger for me? How could you mom?!" Kylie questioned in rage.
Her father sat on the couch watching them both.
He recalled telling Carina that this arrangement would never go well with Kylie but she had assured him everything would be fine. He makes lots of fuss, she had said to him.
"Cause it's what is best for you." Carina said, her tone slightly rose.
"Best for me?!"Kylie flared. "You don't know what's best for me.""Kylie." Carina said, underneath her tone was a clear warning she was crossing her limits.
"Oh mom please spare me,"she said feeling exasperated. "And dad,"she said turning to him. "You're in this too?"she questioned."Don't look at me,it was all her idea." he said shrugging his shoulders.
"You both know I have someone in my life."Kylie said as a matter of fact.
"Like I've said before,Rex is not someone worthy to spend the rest of your life with."
"You know what?"Kylie said picking up her bag. "I'm done with this discussion. To hell with this damned marriage. To hell with the Michaelson." she damned as she walked out of the house.
Carina called after her but she paid deaf ears to her.
"To hell with this house if possible." she said underneath her breath as she drove out of the house.
At the Michaelson's mansion,Rio and Lucinda had their own share of the interrogation from their son. "What was that all about?" he questioned."I just thought it was right to get your married and.."Lucinda said and was cut short. "No one asked you to plan any marriage mother. I'm not looking for a wife."he stated."And you're not getting any younger too Leonard." she fired at him. "Thirty isn't old mother." He argued."I don't care. I've said what I want. I like the girl and you must marry her. You have no choice in this matter." she said firmly. He stared at her and walked away. It was quite pointless to banter words with her when her mind was made up.His mother was quite stubborn. He had never for once gone against her wish before but this time around, she won't pressurize him into a marriage he didn't want. . . The bright and sunny sky didn't match with Kylie's mood when she walked into the office.
Kylie parked the car in front of her parents house. She turned off the ignition of the car and stepped out.She couldn't quite place her fingers on why she obliged to her mother's request again. It wasn't even a request,it was an order and Kylie knew better than to refute her mother's order.Something in her heart told her she wasn't here because she didn't want to displease her mother. Why she actually came, she couldn't pinpoint. She walked into the house, her car keys dangling on her fingers. She met Carina seated on the long arm couch,a fine cream product of LoveSac. She was sipping tea when she saw Kylie walked in."Kylie."Carina said gently."Mother."Kylie said less spiteful. "You wanted me here." she said still standing. She dropped the cup on the saucer and placed it on the grey ceramic glass table."It's good to see you still have respect for your mother. Do sit down Kylie, you're not a stranger here, this is your home." she s
The Audi A3,a sleek blue sportback owned by no other but Leonard Michaelson, drove into the premises of LM Tech. The skyscraper glittering in the sunlight. One of his bodyguards opened the backdoor and he stepped down from the car in an exquisite black suit and a pure gold Rolex watch. He walked towards the company and the doorman opened the entrance door as he greeted. "Good morning sir."Leo raised a hand to signify that he heard him. He was never one to reply to the greetings of his staffs. They were all used to this attitude of his. They addressed him as Mr grumpy behind his back. Though he was temperamental,he was also quite reserved. Lance came up beside him as he advanced towards the elevator."Good morning sir." Lance greeted."Everyone's in the conference room already?" he asked waving the greetings aside."Yes,everyone's waiting."he answered. Leo was fond of keeping people waiting. It didn't matter who,his
Kylie arrived at the café and saw Rex seated at the last end of the table. On the table was a half eaten French tuna salad and a cup of cappuccino. It seemed like he had ordered before she came. She braced herself and walked up to him with a smile on her face. He stood up when he saw her walking towards him. He smiled when she came closer and he placed a light kiss close to her lips."I've missed you." he said as she took her seat on the opposite side."I have too. I've just been caught up with work." she said.He managed a little smile. "It's you Kylie. You're a workaholic." he said. She could tell he was annoyed by that fact. It wasn't her fault. She had to be up on her toes since the Broadway was fast approaching. She placed her hand on his."I'm sorry. You know I'll never neglect you on purpose." she said feeling guilty for not spending more time with him. Just then, the waiter walked up to her to take her order."A cup of
Rex fumed in anger has he drove away. The interchange between Kylie and Leo was more than what it seemed."How do you know him?" Rex questioned. She shrugged. "He's a son to my mother's friend." she said plainly. "And the interchange between both of you was what?"he asked as his knuckles tightened on the steering wheel."What interchange?I was defending you." Kylie said getting irritated by the questions. She heaved in relief when he parked the car at the parking lot of the company."I'll call you." he said to her as she stepped out of the car. She didn't even want to respond to him.Her mind was crowded with the words of Leo as she walked into the company and into the elevator. "I expected more." his words flashed across her mind. How dare he?! How dare he ridicule Rex that way. She fumed. It was only after she got seated in her office did she realize she didn't put a call through to her driver to pick up her car.She called
Kylie looked over each fabric of designs in front of her. She had pushed them into bringing out the extreme best they had in them.Their designs were indeed very good than the last time. She felt each sequin of the dresses and smiled. The embroideries too were perfect. "I'm very much pleased with what I'm seeing and I must confess it's a job well done." she said and they beamed with smiles."Thank you very much ma'am." they said in one accord. Kylie nodded. All she needed was a significant look that stood out just like the combined design with Anna's pattern. She needed a brainstorming idea just like that but she was too distracted to think. She turned to leave but stopped. "Lest I forget,Every sketch design that you feel is not worth making, should be torn into pieces, bits by bits before throwing it into the wastebasket. Am i clear on that?" "Yes ma'am." They chorused and she walked back into her office. She rubbed her aching neck. These past
It was a sunny Saturday and Leo was seated in the comfort of his study going through a couple of books on his desk when he heard a knock on the door."Come in." he said. His housekeeper Helen, walked into the room. "Sir,you have a few guests waiting for you downstairs." she said."Did they say who they were?" he asked. She shook her head. "They wouldn't say." she said. He stared at her with a displeasing look. "And you just let them in the house?"She shuddered. "I'm sorry sir." she said. "Go." he said and she slightly curtsied and walked away.He stood up and walked out of the study room. He walked down the length of stairs and saw Gory and Oliver seated on the sofa. "The ghost visitors who won't tell Helen who they are." he said chuckling as he walked to them. They stood up smiling."I told you he's gonna be in today." Gory said as he shook Leo's hand and Oliver did the same."You were definitely right about it Gory." Ol
Her heart raced as he walked towards her. He wore a white shirt,a slim fit royal blue tuxedo and a blue polka dot tie.His hair was stylishly cut at the nape of his neck. She looked away making herself understand that she disliked this man and was only getting married to him because of her mother. He sat beside her and she could feel her stomach churn again. She was sure she was already sick of him."My son," Lucinda said kissing his forehead. "I'm so proud of you." she said."I'm the one who's more proud here Lucinda," Carina chipped in. "I'm having such a handsome man as my son in law." she said smiling and held his cheek tenderly.Leo could hardly suppress his embarrassment. They were treating him like a little boy."Mom," he whined."Cut the kids some break you too. It's their engagement tonight, give them some room." Henry said coming out from nowhere with Rio."Let the ceremony begin." Rio said motioning to Leo to come forward
