KATE shook hands with the shareholders after the signing of the documents. Though she was feeling elated at that moment, she could not help but worry about her aunt’s reaction.

“Congratulations again, Katherine,” said Mr. Ramirez. “Anyway, you should attend the next board meeting, so we can officially appoint you as the new Chief Executive Officer.”

“Don’t worry about it, Mr. Ramirez,” Jan said. “We will make sure that she’s present at the next board meeting.”

“Ah, that’s nice to hear.” Mr. Ramirez turned to her again. “And good luck with Bernice. I’m sure she would throw a fuss.”

“And speaking of the devil… there she is,” Jan said while looking in the direction of the door.

Kate’s fists clenched when she saw her aunt walking in her direction.

“And what’s the meaning of this?” Aunt Bernice snarled.
