Day after day passed, yet for Jacob, time seemed to stand still. Teaching Luna felt like trying to break through a stubborn wall. The girl appeared far more interested in other things than the lessons he prepared for her. Every time they sat down together, Jacob found himself on the verge of losing his sanity.

“Luna! It’s been five months since I started teaching you, so why do you still not understand anything I explain to you?!” he exclaimed, tapping the small wooden stick against her forehead. “Use your brain! Do you think studying means just sitting there looking pretty?”

Luna pouted, complaining like a child being scolded. “You’re always getting angry. Can’t you teach me a little more gently?”

Jacob grumbled, placing his stick roughly on the table. “Gently? How am I supposed to be gentle when my student is as stubborn as a rock and as careless as you?!”

Luna lowered her head, fiddling with her fingers over the book. “These numbers are so difficult,” she murmured softly, her voice barely audible.

Jacob let out a heavy sigh. Teaching Luna turned out to be far more difficult than persuading a small child to eat vegetables. He stood up, rubbed his face in frustration, and walked out of the room.

The moment Jacob disappeared, Luna broke into a wide grin. “Yes! I’m free!” she whispered triumphantly.

However, before she could enjoy her freedom, Jacob returned to the room with a sharp look in his eyes. Luna immediately froze.

“You have an assignment. Read from page one to page twenty. If I come back and you haven’t finished, you’ll be punished,” Jacob said firmly before finally leaving.

“What?!” Luna gaped at him, her mouth falling open. But Jacob had already disappeared behind the door, leaving her glaring in protest.

“Argh! Why is he so annoying?! I should be playing with my rabbits today!” she grumbled, ruffling her hair in frustration.

On the other side of the door, Jacob stood still. He had heard every complaint Luna made, and the corners of his lips unconsciously curled into a small smirk.

“Don’t think you can get away with it. I’ll keep watching you to make sure you continue studying, Luna.”

That afternoon, Luna’s plan to relax in the garden as usual was once again interrupted by Jacob. She tried to ignore him and focus on playing with the rabbits.

Ever since Jacob had arrived and offered to be her friend, Luna had grown suspicious of him. She had never been entirely convinced that he genuinely wanted to be her friend, and it turned out the man had a hidden agenda. He intended to scold her under the pretense of being a teacher instructing his student.

“Good. You caught that rabbit. Tonight, I’ll turn it into a roasted rabbit for dinner,” Jacob remarked in a flat tone, making Luna turn toward him with a sharp glare.

Luna stared at him indignantly. “I won’t let you turn this rabbit into your dinner!”

“Oh, are you trying to challenge me?” Jacob retorted.

Luna pouted. Deliberately, she released the rabbit she was holding so Jacob wouldn’t be able to make a meal out of it. Jacob’s eyebrows shot up as he watched the rabbit escape from her grasp.

“Try catching it if you can,” she challenged him.

Jacob smirked. “So, you’re challenging me.”

Without hesitation, Jacob went after the rabbits one by one, attempting to catch them, but they turned out to be incredibly agile.

Luna folded her arms across her stomach, confident that Jacob would never manage to catch one. However, only a few seconds after forming that thought, she was startled to see him successfully catch a rabbit with his bare hands.

Her eyes widened. “Let that rabbit go!”

Jacob lifted the rabbit into the air. “I’ll let it go... after I roast it.” He turned and started walking toward the house.

Panicking, Luna chased after him. To her surprise, Jacob noticed her movements. As a result, he started running too, dodging Luna’s attempts to stop him.

Luna grew frantic. “Wait! You can’t eat it!” she cried, running after Jacob.

Jacob chuckled, enjoying the commotion he had caused. “You’re the one who challenged me, and now you’re objecting? That’s hilarious.”

Good heavens, Jacob had never imagined that fighting over a rabbit could be this much fun. Especially when he was competing with a little girl whose body was much smaller than his. Luna’s little legs bounced several times as she tried to reach the rabbit in Jacob’s hand.

But he continued running backward at a leisurely pace, deliberately teasing her. Unfortunately, Jacob failed to watch where he was going and tripped over some stones, sending him tumbling to the ground.

The rabbit slipped from his grasp, but that wasn’t the only thing that happened. The girl chasing him also lost her balance and fell right on top of Jacob, who was lying on the grass.

“A little girl like you has quite some nerve teasing me,” Jacob remarked, his voice cold despite the fact that he was only joking.

Luna’s eyes widened in shock, and she hurriedly scrambled to her feet. Rather than apologizing, she chose to make sure the rabbit Jacob had caught had escaped.

“Thank goodness it’s free,” she murmured in relief.

Jacob sat up and raised an eyebrow at Luna’s unexpected reaction. “What kind of reaction is that? You should be apologizing for what you just did,” he said.

Luna shot him a disdainful glance. Instead of apologizing, she stuck out her tongue at him mockingly before running away.

Jacob massaged his forehead. He really was playing around with a girl much younger than himself. The whole situation felt strange, and the worst part was that he actually enjoyed it.

He chuckled softly as he ran a hand through his hair.

“What a little brat.”

The following day, Elsa still needed to find a new place to hide. Fortunately, she managed to find somewhere better than her previous accommodation, although it was much farther from Katrina's home. That afternoon, Elsa had already bought a new phone so she could catch up on the latest news in the city after being away for so long. The first thing she searched for was information about the Dawson family. She looked into their family history, but none of the available sources mentioned that Deon had a twin brother. That meant Dustin's existence had never been made public as a member of the family.Elsa bit her fingernail. She also searched for information about whether there was some kind of illness affecting twins, one that would cause one of them to fall sick if the two were brought together. However, she found no medical explanation for the condition Marley had described.“An illness like that is nothing more than a myth. How could one twin become sick and die just because the two o

The moment Elsa opened her eyes, she was startled to find herself in a hospital. An IV line was even attached to one of her hands. There was no hospital on the island where Dustin lived, so Elsa immediately got out of bed and carried her IV bag toward the window. She pulled back the curtains, her eyes widening in amazement when she realized she was back in New York City.“I'm... I'm back in the city?” she murmured in disbelief. She was so thrilled that she nearly forgot she had only just regained consciousness.“Am I dreaming?” Elsa asked herself before slapping her own face. Unfortunately, the sting of pain that followed confirmed that she wasn't dreaming. Her excitement grew, and she almost screamed with joy at the thought of finally escaping the island. If she had anything to say about it, she would never set foot on that island again or have to see Dustin.Without a second thought, Elsa pulled the IV needle out of her hand and pressed a finger against the puncture wound for a few

Elsa's legs were trembling, but she had no choice but to force herself to walk home wearing nothing but Dustin's oversized shirt. Every now and then, she shot an irritated glance at Dustin's broad shoulders as he walked ahead of her.Her legs were trembling because of what he had put her through, too. It was infuriating how perfectly fine Dustin looked after exhausting her with his relentless, forceful movements.Elsa lowered her head and glanced at the fluid Dustin had released inside her, which continued to trickle out and run down her legs. She closed her eyes and drew a deep breath.“Why are you walking so slowly? Hurry up. Let's take these shrimp home so Marley can cook them,” Dustin called from a distance.Elsa snorted but continued walking, even though she could barely manage more than a stagger. The faster she moved, the more fluid seemed to trickle out. Just how much had Dustin released that her body couldn't seem to hold it all?In the end, Elsa decided to sit on a rock besi

Dustin pulled Elsa closer, pressing kisses against her skin and making her feel increasingly flustered. If not for her desire to leave the island as soon as possible, she might have already pushed him away. But when she thought about it again, the sooner she became pregnant and had a child, the sooner she could leave this isolated place.Who would want to spend their entire life on a remote island, far from the bustle of the city and with nothing but a large house for company? Especially when the only house on the island belonged to Dustin's family.“Ah!” Elsa cried out when Dustin kissed her again. He lifted his head and studied the expression on her face. A faint smile curved his lips before he guided her into a more comfortable reclining position.“You're starting to enjoy this, aren't you?” he teased.Elsa didn't answer. She was too busy trying to overcome her embarrassment at being so close to Dustin without any clothes on. He continued showering her with attention, seemingly det

"What kind of berry is this? It's sweet. Are there still a lot of them over there?" Elsa stood up. She was not satisfied with the berries Dustin had given her. They had to cross a small river to reach the wild berry trees. There, Elsa picked the berries and ate them right away. So this was what it felt like to freely eat fruit right beside its tree."You can't eat too many berries," Dustin scolded from a distance.Elsa only turned her head. The woman ignored Dustin while continuing to eat. Occasionally she also gathered more and brought them over near the man who was sitting."Does this place still hold many other fruits? I've only seen a few kinds of fruit grown near the house. I've never explored this island.""You want to try exploring this island? At the very least, you'd only need one week to satisfy your eyes with the beauty here."Elsa nodded enthusiastically. "I'll explore it later, but this place doesn't have wild animals, does it?""There are no lions or tigers, but there ar

  • Passion on the Secret Island   Chapter 20. Just a Dream

The night felt oppressive this time, and Luna's feelings were in turmoil. In front of her, Jacob closed the distance between them. But just as the distance became very close, Luna jerked awake in her sleep. Her eyes flew open, and she could not hide the thunderous pounding in her chest."Dream?" she murmured, rubbing her face in frustration. She turned her head toward the window, making sure the world outside was still wrapped in darkness. "Good God, why did I dream about him? It felt so real. Could he have actually come into my room?"With a long exhale, Luna tried to calm her mind. But the unease would not fade, making her get up from the bed. She decided to get a glass of water in the kitchen, hoping it would ease the tension in her chest.Luna opened her bedroom door, checking that it was still locked from the inside. "So it was just a dream," she thought, a little relieved. As she stepped out, her steps stopped when her eyes caught Jacob's figure at the end of the hallway, just c
