Dingo POV
About a half hour later, I saw a vehicle pulled off to the side of the highway. My wolf eyes, even better in the dark, confirmed my sudden fear. It was Danny’s red truck. My heart began to race as my mind flipped through all the horrible things that could have happened since she left. There was no sound, no smoke, or even barking. I sighed in relief as I pulled up. Thank the Goddess she didn’t wreck. As I got closer, I could see she was passed out in the driver seat with her window completely rolled down.
I walked to the door. “No really Danny, are you alright?” I demanded.
See, I told you she needed our help. Dane was angry with me.
I was angrier at myself more than anything else. This wasn’t safe. Not only could she have wrecked, killed herself or someone else but who knows what else prowls these roads at night. She should have taken more care. Biscuit came to life barking but settled as soon as he sensed it was me.
She nearly hit her head on the cabin roof when I spoke.
“What the fuck?” She snarled as she snapped awake. “Dingo? What are you doing here?”
I seriously doubted she even knew where here was.
“You’re just lucky it’s me.” I replied. “You’re pulled over with your window fully down and it’s night now. I could have been anyone. Besides there are bears and worse yet, wolves out here.” Although I was mad a slight smile touched my lips.
There is nothing to worry about here. Nothing compares to me here. I will protect Danny. Dane huffed confidently.
Dane, you aren’t helping. I scolded him.
She calmed down as she sensed I was not angry. She must be exhausted. The fright was fading from her but she was fading too.
“Biscuit would have let me know if anyone was around.” Her voice was wavering.
I scoffed at that. I looked at her closely. Her aura was weak now, barely there. What was going on with this woman? I wasn’t going to back down this time. I couldn’t let her risk herself. I put the bike in the bed of her truck and popped open the door before she had a chance to argue.
“Scooch over. I’ll take you home.” I said in a no-nonsense tone.
Good job, see there is something you can do. She needs help. Dane accused.
Well, at least I got him back on my side again I thought.
I could see a dozen thoughts flit across her pale face but she didn’t argue. She sluggishly scooted over and I slid into the driver’s seat.
“Um…. So where is this ‘home’ I’m taking you too?” I asked with lite chuckle realizing I had no idea where she lived.
She whispered back, “I’m number 7 in the Paradise Cove Trailer court.”
I saw the dog curl up on her lap, he too looked worried. Don’t worry, I silently told him, I’ll take care of her. Her scent was so strong in here it was overwhelming and delicious. I felt like I was getting high. My head was swimming. Thank the Goddess the window was down.
I just want to touch her. I needed to feel her skin pressed to mine. She didn’t know me, I didn’t want to scare her or come across as creepy but the pull was hard to resist. I restrained myself and let my eyes wander down her body. Her skin was pale, it was hard to make out much of her as the sweatshirt she wore was too big. I could tell she wasn’t wearing a bra and she had nice boobs. Patches of pale skin peeked out from the ragged holes in her pants.
Now that I was closer to her, I could see little splotches of paint and blood all over her. Something about the idea of her painting was arousing. I adjusted as my pants began tightening again. She was passed out in minutes. Her breathing was shallow, and a heat was radiating from her body. I reached over to touch her cheek, secretly thrilled with the excuse to finally press my skin to hers.
Oh, Goddess she was burning up. I flashed the Pack Alpha the Ocean River Pack and have them send their doctor to number 7 in the Paradise Cove Trailer court. I continued to fill him in as I sped down the highway.
I could feel Dane pacing in my mind. What was with him?
About 10 minutes later I saw the faded sign, ‘Paradise Cove’ and pulled off. I followed the gravel drive around to lot number 7. She was still passed out, breathing but barely. I parked the truck and took the keys. I banged loudly on the door as I realized I had no idea if she lived alone. From her looks and the condition she was in, I was assuming so. No answer. I fumbled with her keys and threw open the door.
Biscuit jumped out of the truck and ran in the trailer; he was obviously happy to be home. Mindful that there were undoubtably human eyes watching I resisted the urge to leap across the truck and instead ran step by step to her door. I opened it, reached in and gently scooped her up. She wasn’t small but to me she was still lite. She was burning to the touch. Were’s run hot but she was hot even to me.
I held her close to my chest as I navigated the narrow steps and doorway. Her scent was delicious, wisps of her hair tickled my nose. Once inside I stopped, there was no room in here. Stuff was scattered across the tiny table, counter and floor. Papers everywhere, couch pillows knocked down.
She must have been attacked. How could anyone live like this? Dane began growling at the idea of anyone hurting her. His agitation wasn’t helping me stay calm at all.
I could see what looked like a bedroom at the farthest end of the trailer, so I carefully made my way back. I kicked the door open the rest of the way and gently laid her down. Her breathing was very faint. I turned on a light and found the bathroom.
Ah, there. I pulled a washcloth from the shower bar and ran some cold water over it. Then I swiftly moved back to where Danny was laying.
I pressed the cold cloth against her forehead, wetting her hair. She let out a soft moan. “It’s Ok Danny, I got you.” I whispered gently as I looked her over.
Biscuit jumped up on the bed and eyed me suspiciously. It looked like he decided that I was helping not hurting and he curled up at her feet. I made several trips back and forth to cool the cloth and get more water. Where the hell is that doctor?
I took a deep breath to calm myself. The trailer smelled of her and the dog. She lived alone. That was a relief considering the potentially compromising position I put her in. Goddess I hope she has an open mind when she wakes up. If she wakes up at all. I touched her forehead again, still hot.
Just then I got a flash from Brad. Both he and Nolan, the pack doctor, were on their way and almost here. I sighed in relief. I gave him an update on her condition. Brad was relaying the message to the doctor. Mind linking or flashing only works if you have a close personal bond to another Were or in a Pack that was bonded.
Brad replied, “Nolan said you need to get her cooler. That’s all he can say right now. He’s a little nervous as we don’t know what kind of hybrid she is.”
“She’s going to be a dead one if we don’t help her!” I flashed back angrily. Dane, Howled in my mind.
“Calm yourself Dingo, we are almost there.” Brad replied.
I immediately regretted my words. How was I so attached to this woman I know nothing about? There was no denying the pull I had toward her. It was beyond sexual. She had to be protected and I wanted to be the one to do it. I had no explanation, but I was certain without help she would die and I couldn’t let that happen.
I sat her up and gently tucked one arm inside her shirt, then the other. I slid the sweatshirt off over her head completely as I laid her back down.
“It’s ok Danny. You’re going to be ok.” I kept soothing in case she could hear me.
I refreshed the cloth again and began cooling her neck and arms. Her skin was pale and smooth. I gently slid the cloth down her neck and onto her chest, so creamy white. I pulled the cloth back up to her chest and slid slowly down to her breast. It was plump and perfect, topped with a rose bud nipple. It bounced a little as I moved my hand back up again for another swipe. I felt myself getting aroused.
I heard a truck pull in. That must be them. Biscuit started to growl and I shushed him. He curled back down at his mistresses’ feet.
Danny POV I felt like I had direction and I felt stronger. I got out of the shower and got dressed. Davin was no longer in the room. All the wonderful clothes Davin had picked for me were moved to this the new room. I picked out cargos and a t-shirt that I slipped over the deep green panty set I decided on. I was smiling, savoring the love I felt he had for me. I walked to the door. There was Sean and someone that I didn’t know. I smiled at them. “Um, hello.” “It’s good to see you, Danny.” Sean said. “I wanted to tell you ‘Thank you’ for saving Brad.” He was genuine and there was a restrained tear in his eye. After he said it I could tell he felt a bit awkward. “No one should get hurt because of me.” I told him and smiled. “Can you take me to Brad?” Sean was clearly surprised. “Sure, this way.” He said and led me to Brad’s office. “Thank you I told him.” As he positioned himself outside the door. I knocked gently. “Come in.
Danny POV I opened my eyes. I took a deep breath in. Everything hurt. I tried to sit up but my body would not comply. I heard a gentle snoring next to me. Davin was asleep curled around me. I relaxed myself next to him. Dane? Can you still hear me? I asked tentatively with my mind, it was still so strange. Mate, yes! You are finally awake. He replied I could sense the worry and love radiating from him. I smiled. Did you hear me before? I asked. Not until I heard you call my name. I came to protect you. He said. Thank you. I told him and closed my eyes and fell asleep. I felt a soft touch against my cheek and opened my eyes. Davin was next to me, smiling down at me. I smiled back at him. “Good morning Beautiful.” He said. I tried to pull myself up but my body wasn’t working. Shit. I did it again, I thought to myself. “Davin, how long was I out t
Dingo/Davin POV Dane slowly walked back to the Pack House. I knew Danny had fallen asleep on top of me from the gentle snores and limp arm at my side. I mind linked Sean. I couldn’t shift until Danny was clear of me. He came out and smiled. A small laugh escaped him at the predicament I was in. Sean walked up to her, “Danny, it’s time to wake up. You have to wake up so Dingo can shift.” “Oh? Hmmm.” She said and slowly sat up. Sean held his hand out to her to help her down. I felt Dane growl with jealousy. Dane, he is only helping her and we asked him too. I reminded him. “Thank you.” She told him. He doesn’t need to look so pleased with himself. MY Mate. He repeated. I ignored him and took control back and shifted once Danny was clear of me. “Well, I guess that means you are comfortable riding.” I laughed as I walked up to her. She just threw my clothes at me and smiled. Sean sn
Danny POV “I’m hungry.” I said, breaking the silence that was blanketing us as we watched the waves. “Me too. I smell, honey and yogurt.” He said and sniffed at the air. Then he began nibbling on me. I loved the feel of his lips on me. I laughed and tried to escape but he just pulled me back to nibble on me more. Finally, he let me up, both of us laughing. We walked back, it was well past noon and the wind was getting colder. My hand in his, we passed back up the dunes toward the tree line. “So, Love,” he smiled wolfishly at me, “would you care to ride me again?” “Davin you are horrible! I started to smack him but then realized that he had already receded and I was talking to Dane that stood before me. He smirked at me. “You cannot hurt me Mate.” He said in his deep voice. I swallowed; his presence was much more intense than Davin’s. Before me, I knew that a lethal predator was just beneath the skin. “Ok.” I said lookin
Danny POV Davin backed away and shifted into his magnificent wolf. He is so beautiful. His demeanor changed too and I knew that I was seeing Dane before me. “Dane?” I whispered questioningly. He nodded his giant head. “It’s good to see you again.” I told him. I felt a little strange talking to a giant wolf but then it was very normal too. Then I wondered, “Will I be your mate too then?” I asked him. He began bouncing back and forth and I swear he was smiling. I remember Davin telling me that Dane loved me too. Hmmm, a psychic menage-a-trios. But then Davin also said that Dane could see and feel everything he did, so I guess we’ve already done that for bit now. I was surprised that I didn’t feel uncomfortable with the idea but I was completely fine with it. In fact, it was kinda sexy. He looked like a giant puppy, play bowing and bouncing. I picked up his clothes. “I think you might need these when we get to the beach. I
Dingo/Davin POV The beach it is. Anywhere away from Marcus was fine by me. “Oh, I wonder if there are any glass balls this far North.” Danny said aloud. “We get them every once in a while,” Brenda said. “There is a cove, that collects all the flotsam from the storms. I’ve found broken bits of floats there but never a whole one. You might try there, Dingo knows the way.” Brenda was on the same page, I just smiled at the two of them. “I think my treasure bag is in the truck still.” Danny said. “Treasure bag?” Brad asked. To my surprise, it was Sean that answered smiling. “It’s a shopping bag equivalent for beach combing he explained.” Brenda and Danny snickered exchanging glances. Brad rolled his eyes. Danny rinsed her dish, ‘determined’ to not be a bother and we went back to our room. Before I even had the door closed, I felt her slide her arms under my shirt and around to my chest. My cock instantly hardened at
