Liam’s POV

I believe I don’t get jealous easily. Not of business rivals. Not of men with fatter wallets or bigger companies.

But the second Julian leaned in close, smiling at Ivy like he still had some kind of claim over her, my blood burned.

He touched her arm, lightly, casually, but my vision blurred and narrowed like it was a declaration of war.

I have never had this kind of urge before but I wanted to break his hand right there and then.

Instead, I stood perfectly still, jaw clenched, every of my muscles controlled. Because Calloways don’t make scenes. We bury people quietly instead.

He said something I didn't quite register through my rage, so I slid my hand to the small of her back, not bothering about being subtle at all. "Funny," I said casually, my eyes locked on Julian, "I don’t remember hearing your name in her life before."

I don't think I've ever felt as much satisfaction from seeing his grin falter.

But I clearly heard Ivy snort a little, I looked at her and saw

  • Plain ivy? No more!!   Chapter 39

Ivy's POV I sat stiffly at the little dining table in our suite, my untouched glass of wine glinting in the low light. The night outside was velvet dark, I was lost in my head while staring at the pool below that was still shimmering from where we had been earlier. I should’ve been unwinding, I should already feel relaxed from the swim. Instead, my chest felt tight, and my thoughts louder that ever. God, I hate this. I hate the way Liam’s words keeps replaying in my head, the way his laugh from earlier in the pool stuck like a thorn I can't ignore. And worst of all, I hate the heat that is curling in my stomach whenever I catch myself remembering the way he had looked at me earlier, like I wasn’t the "Plain Ivy" he once mocked. Like I was something else entirely. I really wanted to forgive him, to forget all about that damn nickname, but it was hard to let go of a grudge I had kept for so many years. The bathroom door clicked open. My head snapped up just as Liam walked o

  • Plain ivy? No more!!   Chapter 38

Author's POV The pool glittered under the afternoon sun, it looked like a sheet of turquoise framed by palm trees. Ivy slipped off her robe and stepped in, letting the cool water wrap around her. This was her peace. Away from Liam, away from the noise. It was just her, the sky, and silence. At least, that was what she thought until she heard a low whistle. "Didn't know I had company." Her head snapped up. Liam was already in the water, leaning lazily against the edge. Shirtless. Drops of water sliding down his chest like they had a goddamn contract with gravity. Of course. "Then maybe leave," she said, swimming past him. "Or," he smirked, "maybe I stay. It’s a big pool. We can share." She ignored him, pushing through the water with smooth strokes. But she could feel his gaze on her. Heavy, following and testing. After a few laps, she stopped at the far end, breathless. He was still there, but he was closer now, his arms spread wide along the edge like he owned the wh

  • Plain ivy? No more!!   Chapter 37

Ivy's POV The first thing I noticed as I woke up was the fact that I was leaning on a hard surface. And it was not just a hard surface, it was a warm, comfortable and solid one. My heart slammed against my ribs as I opened my eyes. My cheek was on Liam’s chest. His arm was wrapped around my waist like it has always belonged there. I looked up and saw that my side of the bed was still neat. Shit. I was the one who drew boundaries last night, yet I was the one who’d rolled over. I had gone over to his side. My stomach flipped and carefully, I lifted his arm, slow like I was handling glass, and slid out of bed. My toes hit the carpet. And I hated how aware I was of the fact that the carpet was cold compared to him. I chanted in my head. Don’t think, don’t look. Just move. I finally made it to the bathroom and instantly locked myself in there. One look in the mirror and I almost groaned. My hair was a mess, my cheeks still pink. I looked guilty, like someone who had

  • Plain ivy? No more!!   Chapter 36 - Tangled in the sheets

Liam's POV It was warm. That was the first thing I noticed when I woke up. I never wake up warm. My life had been a long line of hotel rooms, business suites and penthouses that looked impressive but always felt… empty. The beds that were always too big. Sheets that were too crisp and most of all silence that echoed louder than it should. But this morning, there was warmth. It was soft and steady. The kind that made me hesitate to even open my eyes so it won't disappear. And then I did, and I saw her. Ivy. She was lying in my arms like she belonged there. Her head rested just under my chin, her breath brushing against my shirt. Her hair, messy and undone spilled across my chest like silk threads, smelling faintly of citrus and a hint of my cologne from the sheets. One of her hands had fisted lightly in the fabric of my shirt, like she was holding on to me in her sleep. My arm was wrapped around her waist, holding her close, like I had already decided, even unconsciously

  • Plain ivy? No more!!   Chapter 35 - One bed

Ivy's POV The waves were louder at night, crashing against the sand like they were keeping score. I had slipped out here for air, my heels dangling from my hand, toes sinking into the cool sand. And for a moment, it was just me, the ocean, and silence. But of course, silence never lasted wherever Liam Calloway was. "Running away already?" His voice came from behind me, sounding smooth and infuriatingly calm. I turned, and there he was, with his shirt sleeves rolled up, his hair mussed by the wind, he was barefoot looking like he owned the whole damn beach. He looked too casual, too easy.... too him. "I needed space," I said, turning back to continue staring at the horizon. He stopped beside me anyway, close enough that his shoulder brushed mine. I could feel heat bleeding through the thin fabric of my robe. "You really hate me that much?" he asked quietly. The words knocked me off balance. Not because of what he said, but how he said it. There was no smug grin, no tau

  • Plain ivy? No more!!   Chapter 34 - The trip

Ivy's POV I kept on thinking about all that just happened through the ride home. Liam had explained. He really explained. About Bianca, about how long ago it all was, about how I wasn’t some leftover fling he had been stringing along. And I believed him. At least… just enough to unclench my fists. But believing him wasn’t the same as forgiving. So when I leaned against the window and let the city blur past, I wasn’t ignoring him, I was just trying to sort through the knot of things twisting inside my chest. I was still lost in my thoughts as I walked into the penthouse, that was until I saw the envelope waiting on the kitchen counter. It was cream-colored, with my father’s handwriting stamped across the front. It has been a while since I contacted my father so I instantly tore it open.It was a note from my dad about a week-long "honeymoon trip." he and Liam's dad booked. It was already paid for and non-refundable.Of course.Behind me, Liam walked in, loosening his tie. He rai
