Chapter Nineteen

When we made it back to the manor, I was still heated. Heated about the fact that I let myself look vulnerable in front of William when that is the exact opposite of what I was supposed to do, and heated that I broke my heel. The landscapers were staring at me as I limped to the front door. Half way there, I gave up and just took both of my heels off and carried them. Gerard offered to hold them for me but I declined his generous offer.

I went into the living room and sat down on the couch. The TV was off, but classical music was playing throughout the surround sound in the living room. I decided to leave the TV off and bask in the soothing sounds of Bach, or Mozart, or Beethoven, whoever it was.
