We’re going to be late again, and you’ll be the one crying when the bell rings!” Eli said with a grin.“That’s not true!” Ella shot back, sticking her tongue out. “And you’re always the one forgetting your math book!”I stood in the kitchen, watching them with a light heart. These moments… these small arguments, these simple laughs… this was my happiness now. They were safe. They were free. They were mine.A few minutes later, they stepped out of the house with their school bags. Contracts—deals I had spent years negotiating—were being canceled in seconds. And then came the calls from the authorities, informing me that investigations had been opened on my accounts. My fists tightened. How was this possible?Who would dare come after me like this? After everything I had built—with sleepless nights, sacrifices, risks no one else dared to take—who could destroy it so easily? My eyes moved quickly across the screens.Numbers falling.Losses rising.Everything collapsing at a s

Cruel in a quiet way that didn’t need shouting to hurt. And their mother… she was holding herself together. Calm. Strong. But the twins saw it now.
