Lyra’s POV
I turn around. “What did you just say?”
“You heard me loud and clear. I am pregnant for Damon and will be birthing his pup. And oh, as you already know, I can shift into my wolf unlike some people.”
Something heavy drops right into my stomach and I feel my insides twist. “That's a lie. Damon would never cheat on me, let alone with you.”
She snickers. “Well, he did. Too bad.”
“Stop lying!” I yell, unable to control my rising anger at this point.
“No, you are the one that should stop yelling at your Luna. I command you!”
“You are not my Luna and will never be my Luna!” I yell back as I march to where she is standing. Level to level. Eye to eye. “You are a lying bitch! Damon would never sleep with you!”
“Funny you think that way. You are the loser here. Wolfless, orphan and weak. What could he possibly do with you? Listen, Alpha Thorne took you in and Damon fell in love with you out of pity. But now that they have seen your true self, what do you think they can do with someone like you?”
“Sashaa!!” I growl, fisting my palm. I didn't realise Kael had joined us and as I aim to slap the lying bitch before me, she asks me to hold back but I am already way beyond angry to stop myself.
I swing my arm but Sasha catches it in the air.
“Alpha Thorne approved of us. What will you do about it, wolfless?” she says smugly.
“You will never have your way…never!” I grunt and try to punch her with my free hand.
“Look at you weak thing. You think I will let your weak hand touch me?” She laughs scornfully and pushes me away.
“Ouch!” I groan, landing on my butt.
I can hear her laughing really loud and calling me names. I look at myself on the ground, embarrassed. How can one push from her cause me to land to the floor this easily. What is happening to me…I did not used to be this weak…I may not be able to shift into my wolf but I know my strength isn't this weak in my human form. Could it be because of my wolf…
“Get up, Lyra.”
I am still thinking when Kael begins to pull me to my feet.
“You are nothing but a wolfless orphan weak omega!” Sasha continues to taunt me.
I can’t bear it anymore and as I feel tears gather in my eyes threatening to spill down my face, I run out of the house without looking back.
I run and run until I see myself deep in the woods. The dried fallen leaves are crunching under my feet and my hands are swiping against the branches sticking out. I did not stop. I did not want to stop. It is all too much to bear and the more I run the more I keep hearing Sasha's words in my head.
Some branches poking out are scraping my skin as I run, my blood is dripping but the pain I am feeling is nothing compared to the one tightening my chest.
I don't know for how long I have already run or how much distance I covered but I stop when I reach a mountain. I drop to the ground, panting.
Why didn't my wolf come out? Why can't I shift even after waiting for years? I am twenty two for goddess's sake and now someone else is pregnant for my mate and getting married to him. I keep telling myself Damon would never do that…Damon loves me…But the look in Sasha's eyes as she said those words isn't one to be ignored. The confidence in her tone sounds so real.
I swipe my hand across my face. I can't believe I'm crying again. All the tears I have been holding back are pouring.
The first time Damon said a word to me when I parked into their house was the most beautiful day ever. After not speaking to me for days, he finally spoke to me. I injured myself while playing in the yard. I did not know he was watching me from up the balcony and he had come rushing the moment I cried out in pain.
His voice can soothe any hurt. His gaze can reach into any soul and command it to standstill.
“My Damon…” my lips quiver and I press down my teeth on my lower lips feeling the pain yet not wanting it to stop.
Back then, during the early days I moved into Alpha Thorne's house, I did not understand why Alpha Thorne brought me into his house. I did not know it was to marry me off to his son. I was only twelve…a twelve year old orphan. But it was the best offer anyone ever made to me. I had just lost my parents and had nowhere to go.
I hear the leaves rustle and suddenly two men jump out of the bush. I scramble to my feet terrified.
“Hello sweet munchkin…” one says, gnashing his teeth.
From their looks, I could tell they are rogues.
I glance around me. I am in the middle of nowhere with no direction in mind and about to be eaten by rogues. That moment the injuries I had sustained while running decided to ache.
“Now come here little sweetie pumpkin…” the second one whistles.
“Stay away from me!”
I look to my right. There’s a path to follow but what lies at the end of the path and inside it, I did not know. Yet it looks like my only hope of escape. My other option is to climb the hill ahead but that will be me practically running to my own death with my own leg as that is where most of the rogues camp. It's either the hill or towards my right where I may meet my worst fate or escape successfully.
“La la la la…come to Dada..”
As the rogues come closer, I take to my heel and run towards my right.
My heart is beating fast and I can hear the rogues growling and coming after me.
As I run, the one thing that comes to mind is Damon's face. How he smiles at me when he is assuring me everything will be alright. The last words he whispered into my ears that night…
Missing a rock hidden in the grass ahead of me, I stumble on it and clatter to the ground.
The growls of the men are coming closer. I groan, clasping my teeth as I try to get back to my feet quickly and run but then I realise the place I knock my toe is swelling badly.
I am now hearing hoof sounds as if the men have changed into their wolves. I grip my leg to force myself up but the harder I try, the more the pain becomes even more excruciating.
Unable to try any longer, I give up and lay there, clenching my teeth in pain and dreading my fate.
Lyra's POV I storm to Damon's room to confront him about Sasha's pregnancy. I only knock once before I barge in. But the moment I see Damon face every anger inside me fizzle like gas. He is standing behind the closet putting on his wristwatch. As soon as he sees me barge in, he stops. I try to read him. The care and warmth I usually see in his eyes is not there anymore and all I see is sympathy. I swallow a lump. Somewhere inside there is my Damon. I believe it and I know it. “Did you really do it? Did you cheat on me while we were dating? Did you sleep with Sasha?”He just keeps looking at me without saying anything and it's driving me crazy. The more silent he keeps the more my heart thuds and confirms the truth of everything. “Please answer me, Damon–she is lying right? She always wanted you and now she is lying right?”“I’m sorry, Lyra.”“Don't tell me you are sorry. Tell me it's not true! Tell me you did not make any silly announcements! Tell me you did not get her pregnant…te
Lyra's POV I open my eyes to a blinding sun ray filtering through a tiny opening of a…My brain reboot and I jerk up realising I am in an unfamiliar place. “Where am I?” I squint my eyes and glance around. It’s like I am inside a moving something. Then I see a figure–like a man’s back. I feel something jam in my chest and my body tighten in fear. The rogues have captured me. I shut my eyes and begin to plan how to escape from them. But the vehicle suddenly jerks and stops. The owner of the back I saw move and it is a man that stands, rightly confirming my fear of being captured by the rogues. I peep to see his face but he gets down the vehicle before I can catch a good glimpse. I quickly get up to escape. I check my wound and see that some herbs broth has been applied on it and bandage. I get confused. The rogues will rather have me dead than cater for my injuries. “You are awake.”I hear a voice and turn to meet a very handsome face staring at me. I open my mouth to talk but bu

Lyra’s POV I must have cried so much last night because I woke up this morning and I cannot recognize myself in front of the mirror. I don't recall much that happened after everyone angrily left me at what was supposed to be my special night. I recall dropping to the ground and bursting into tears. I remember Kael screaming at people and picking me up but how I got home remains blank in my memory. I sigh as I brush my teeth and have my bath. If anything, I need to know the next step. It’s understandable why Alpha Thorne is angry at me. He had waited years for me to shift and become the perfect Luna for Damon. It hurts me too. I want to be the best for Damon. I don't know why I can't shift into my wolf and it's very painful. Going into town or watching the news is scaring me because I know the horrible things that people will already be saying about me by now. I will have to avoid being out in public for a while. I force the thoughts aside with another sigh and begin to put on a ca
LYRA’S POVIt has been long settled since I was twelve years old–my marriage with Damon. Now I am standing under the glowing natural light, clad in this red dress that smells of sweet lavender and clutching the red roses Aunt Maya carefully picked out specially for this night. The air is nice and moist, the atmosphere is amazing and the moon is slowly showing its face. I stretch my neck towards the walkway. Damon hasn't shown up yet nor his father, Alpha Thorne. Then towards the front row of people and there my best friend in the whole wide world is standing and I see her mouth “Go girl! Luna incoming!”I try to hold back my smile but really can't. Kael knows just how to make anyone around her spring to life. She is so full of energy and sometimes I really don't know what I could have done without her in my life. I press my eyes shut and the memories begin to rear up. I still remember the first day I was taken into the Thorne family. Damon was sixteen and I was twelve. I had immediat
