KHAI’S POV

Petty ass bastard.

I suppose he did not accept my gift with an open heart.

Amidst the smoke and scent of burning flesh were the torn pieces of my pack members. I stood above the severed arm of a child, the rest of her body was discarded next to her burning home. She appeared to be around five years of age.

Just a baby.

My fists balled as I took in the damage done to this village. There were at least a hundred dead, ten injured.

And this wasn’t the only village, they raided and destroyed three others, leaving the residents with an even worse fate.

I turned to my beta, Ronan and said, “Keep searching for more survivors. Put out the fires. If there is a life that can still be saved, then do so.”

When Ronan didn’t move, I turned to him fully, my brow raised. He exhaled loudly, a vein popping out of his temple. His frustration and rage were clear, but he knew better than to speak out of turn. But that did not stop him from voicing out his thoughts as gently as possible.
