Jordan's POV
"Where the hell is my business card?" I screamed. Shit. I think I left it in the club house, but where exactly? Did I give it to the fake client? The memories are still vague, but I don't remember giving it to him. What if I left it in the room? I sigh in defeat and come downstairs for breakfast. "Lucy, why is your eyes swollen?" Rosie asked with concern. "It's nothing baby, eat okay?" Lucy said, casting a nervous glance at me before smiling at Rosie. "What happened to you Lucy?" I asked with concern etched on my face? "It's nothing. I will be fine," she said, looking everywhere but at me. We finish breakfast in silence and I head back to my room. "Leaving again?" Rosie asked with a pout. "Yes baby. I need to get to work." I said, carrying her up and down. "Can I come with you, please? I'm so bored here," she said with puppy eyes I couldn't resist. I sighed in defeat. "Fine, fine. You can come with me I'm your princess dress." I said. "Yahhh, thank you Jordan. I'll have Lucy dress me up now," she said and ran towards the stairs. I wait for a little while before she reappears with a cute pink dress. "You are so beautiful," I said, meaning every word. We walked to the car and met the younger driver instead of Mr. Grits. "Where did you go to drive school?" I asked with a commanding voice. "Emmm, Sir, I... actually... I," he stammered on. "Keep it to yourself. I guess you didn't learn etiquettes right?" I asked with a sneer. "I'm sorry Sir. No, I mean, yes, I... Let me open the doors." He said with an embarrassing blush. I really need to speak with Mr. Grits concerning the people he allows to drive me. "Well, what the hell are you waiting for?" I asked as he looks at me through the review mirror. "Oh, right, right. Sorry Sir," he said and drives off. I allowed Rosie to walk in front of me towards my private elevator when we got to my company. Getting to my office, I met Jason sitting comfortably on my chair. "Jason?" Rosie called out, more surprised than excited. "Now, who do we have here?" Jason asked with amusement. He turns to look at me. "Look who said he never mixes business with pleasure. Why did you bring her here? To become your heir after you die?" Jason asked with a sneer. "What are you doing here Jason," I asked in a warning voice to tell him he shouldn't say what he shouldn't say in front of Rosie. However, he was having none of it. "It will be my company soon enough. I was just getting familiar with my soon to be office and decided to be an acquaintance of this chair too. It's so comfortable." He said, rotating the chair and mocking a moan. "Who let you in here?" I asked in anger. He cocks his head in bemusement and smiled at me. "I have my ways brother. You forget we share something similar. You are my twin after all," He said. Shit! That will explain the funny way my workers glared at me when I entered the company. "What do you want Jason,"' I ask in defeat, not ready for a fight. "You're not oblivious Twin brother, you know what I want. Remember you have a limit, tick-tock." he said standing up. "Never come here again. Ever! I said to him when he was halfway gone. My voice attracted curious gossips from my workers, who peeped from the glass window. However, they were intelligent to know that their jobs were at risks should they do that. I sigh in exhaustion and pressed the door remotes. "Jordan, are you alright? Jason is such a jerk isn't he?" Rosie asked, walking towards me. "Heyyy, who taught you that word?" I asked in disbelief. "Aunty Lucy called him that this morning when he came over," she said, her smile dropping. "Oh Rosie. Those words are for adults alone. Don't use the word again, okay?" I said, reassuring her. "Okay. Thank you. What can I help you with?" She asked, her smile returning. "Just sit here and watch what I do. Office work is really boring anyways" I said, returning her smile. "Can we go to the ice-cream shop after work? Pleaseeee," she whined and I had to agree. "Okay baby. Anything for you." I said. I finish work earlier than I expected and walked towards the exit. "That's his daughter, isn't she?" "But he's gay. Did he adopt her?" "He looks so handsome. I can jilt my boyfriend right now if he just looks at me." "I think he's hotter than his twin. Look at his face. Oh my God." "My greek God. Why doesn't he smile? He's so cold." I keep hearing comments from my workers until I enter my car. I roll my eyes at the driver as he starts taking us home. "Can't you at least ask where I want to go? It's obvious you're desperate to lose your job. Get out now. I'll drive myself." I said, pissed off at the man's lack of enthusiasm. "I'm sorry Sir. I love my job so much, I don't want to lose it please," he started to cry, but one look at my face shut him up. I hate repeating myself to anyone, not alone a complete stranger. He quickly scrambled out of the car and watched as I put Rosie in the passenger seat. "Take care of yourself," I said, throwing some cash to him before zooming off. "That's not nice and you know it," Rosie said from the back. "He is not competent enough. Whatever job you are given, I expect you to do it to perfection and not frolick around," I said sternly. "Hmm, that's debatable," was her sardonic reply as we drove off to the park.MICHELLE'S POV I decided to find my footing around Aunt Rita's new place and subsequently search for a job. I knew that getting a high paying job will be difficult at my aunt's place will not be easy. I walked down the busy streets of Florida, feeling a sense of desperation creeping in. I had to find a job, and fast. My aunt's promise and the dwindling funds in my bank account were taking a toll on my mental health and I know that sonner than later, the little amount I have on me will finish too. As I turned a corner, after walking aimlessly, I spotted a small café tucked away on a quiet side of the street. The sign above the door read "Cozy Cup Café," a name I know Lizzy will definitely laugh at. What caught me was the aroma of freshly brewed coffee wafted out, enticing me enough to come inside. I pushed the door open and stepped inside, my eyes adjusting to the warm lighting. The café was cozy, with comfortable-looking armchairs and small tables scattered about. The walls w
MICHELLE'S POVI didn't want to get my hopes up, so I maintained a neutral look as I walked with the water. I walk towards her room and find her clutching her head with a frown. "What's wrong?" I asked, seeing her furrowed brows. "I...I think I have a concussion. The pain is unbearable." She whimpered and I stare at her in wonder."Do you think we should visit a hospital?" I asked."No, I'll be fine. I just need a pain relief drug and everything will be perfect," she said confidently and I find myself believing her. I help her take a pain reliever with the glass of tap water I fetched. I surprise myself by patting her back reassuring as she wrinkled her face from the taste of the medicine. I waited for the medicine to take effect and probably get a story behind her injury before leaving. I watch her gaze and break eye contact with me repeatedly. "What do you want to tell me aunt?" I ask making it easier for the both of us. "Nothing really. It's nothing," She ranted. Her eye
Michelle's POV I wait till dusk with my three luggages downstairs. The portal could not linger for long and left as soon as I payed him. I finally sighted my aunt coming back from wherever she went to and heavied a sigh of relief. At least, she didn't leave me till the next morning. "I've been waiting for ages Aunt. You didn't care to leave your keys behind or something," I said irritated. "Seems like someone has lost her manners. You never told me you were coming around today did you?" She asked before going upstairs. She was still as grumpy as ever! I made three trips carrying my heavy bags up to her floor without assistance. I was drenched with sweat by the time I was done with the last one. "You can retain your old room if you want. But just remember, nothing has changed." She said before disappearing into her room, shutting the door noisy to tell me not to disturb her for anything. I am elated because I won't mind sleeping on the couch, as long as I had a roof over
Mitchelle's POV I see Lizzy waiting expectantly for me at the door. "So? How did it go?" She asked in panic. "I told him he was an asshole and he gave me $20 dollars," I said with a satisfying grin. "Oh my God Mitch, I'm so proud of you girl. You finally put him in his place," she said with a smile. We giggled like kids until we entered into the store room. "I can't imagine his face when you told him that. I'm literally on top of the world girl!" She said still bemused by the incident. "Hopefully, he'll find a replacement. I pity the poor girls." She added with a mischievous sneer. "Girls? Wait... Don't tell me you're also..." I said confused. "Yes Mitch. Do you think I can stay and endure him? No baby, I'm out there to get a life like you are." She said without care. "Did you do it for me?" I asked emotionally. "I wish, but no. I did it for myself. Besides, I'm 23, I need to get myself a man." She said giggling. "Oh Lizzy. I really will miss you." I said teary
Mitchelle's POV I can't believe I was scammed online. I wept like a child, wondering what exactly I did wrong to the universe. I had a few days to be sent out of my apartment and I figured it would be wise if I started earlier to pack. I brought my boxes and started with the stuffs I knew won't be necessary for the time being. I genuflect where I will run to and stay for the time being. For a slight second, I almost considered Chole's proposal and immediately removed it from memory. "I can't allow her in after all she has done to me. Who knows, she might kill me the next time," I said, shaking my head repeatedly. I resume work the next day dejectedly and sluggishly. I decided that if my boss was cold-hearted to pay me, I can also be cold-hearted to work. "What's wrong with you? Why is your face that way?" Lizzy asked the moment she spotted me playing with the cleaning towel. "I'm considering my options, Lizzy. I will be thrown out soon enough if I don't pay up." I answere
Jordan's POV It turned out that Jason was bluffing about being the reason for Rosie's accident. He has been persistent with his disturbances and threats since then. It's been a week since Rosie's accident. Fortunately, Ryle wasn't at the hospital for long. She had a few cracked ribs and lost two molars and had Miranda gushing over her the moment she was wheeled out of the emergency room. Thankfully, we got home before Lucy could watch the news and search frantically for us. "You haven't had a conversation with me ever since that day. Talk to me, what's wrong?" I asked her the moment she turned to leave the dinning when she sighted me. "Nothing is wrong. I'm very fine," she said, removing my hands from hers. "No, you're not, and we will talk about it now." I said, pulling her towards a chair. "I don't want to do this right now, Jordan," she said defeated. "I don't too, but this is where we are, so tell me," I said. "I already told you about my feelings for you, appare
