CHAPTER SIX

CHAPTER SIX: THE DARK MYSTERIES WITHIN HOTEL DEL ESTRELLA ( MICHIEVOUS YOUNG DETECTIVES )

"Hotel del Estrella?" Raine whispered to herself. "I have a feeling I heard about that place before."

"Why yes! It's a well-known hotel," replied Vanessa, "and we're staying there for three days."

And finally, after the long wait, the day has finally come when the trip was scheduled. Raine packed up the things she'll need in order to be prepared of what might happen on their way. Traveling through car still gives her the creeps.

While they were on their way, Raine opened her phone. Scrolling her social media account. Her eyes widened when she saw the picture of the hotel they will be staying. The same picture she saw on the billboard.

At the moment she saw that image, the call of mystery pinched her.

Every mile they travel nearer to the hotel, the more thrilled and excited she becomes that she didn't worry about being in a trip again.

After miles and miles of traveling by car, the moment came when they set foot to the grand hotel.

It was indeed a majestic place. The crowds sparkled through the wide garden and through the main lobby.

Even though there were reported crimes, it's still surprising that many people still wants to check in in that place.

Raine and Vanessa dazzled towards the lobby where the hotel staffs greeted them in such elegant manner.

"Welcome to Hotel del Estrella Madames. This way to the counter please," one of them spoke. Pointing towards the owner of the hotel standing at the counter.

"Good day. Here's your key," said the owner, "Enjoy your staying."

Raine was astonished about the hotel's beauty and their good service. However, her attention was then caught by a very family scent.

At the moment she smell the sweet fragrance, a memory from her past flashed before her eyes. A memory of her mother standing at the mirror. Putting her lipsticks on and her perfume.

"Mr. del Estrella, your son wants to talk to you. He's at his room upstairs." A lady approached the owner.

"Alright. I'm coming," replied the owner. His unexplainable excitement was shown on his face. "Can you please take this area for a moment?"

"Sure, sir."

Raine didn't saw what happened to the owner next as it dashed upstairs in a hurry.

"Come on, Raine. We're heading to Room 302," Vanessa said.

"Room 302, Ma'am?" asked the lady. "Oh, you're... never mind."

"Why? What's the matter?" Vanessa asked curiously.

"Just... Just in case something unusual happened,  don't go out of your room and lock the door," she whispered.

The air around them became suspicious. Something really bad must be going on.

"Lock your room? Why?" asked Vanessa. But when the lady was about to answer, a huge crowd of tourists approached which made her remain quiet.

They came across a corridor after heading upstairs.

"Here it is. Room 302!" Vanessa spoke with a hint of fright shown on her voice.

Raine's eyes were fixed to her book when suddenly the lights began to flicker.

She paused, holding her aunt's hand tight.

The flickering continued until all of a sudden it was off. The whole city's electricity was down and the emergency lights served as the hotel's light.

Thinking quickly, Raine took her flashlight and helped her aunt to open the door.

She quickly went inside the room. Leaving her things on her bed.

A little while later, they heard a scream coming from the nearby room. Then, the electricity was back again.

Raine immediately ran outside to find out what happened. She tried to hurdle with the crowd standing on the room just near them.

"How gross!" she heard someone spoke as she struggle towards the crowd.

"Who might be the one to do this?" another one said.

Her eyes widened as she saw a man lying on the floor. Dead. His eyes were opened and his whole body covered with blood. A knife beside him lying around the floor.

The police immediately arrived together with the other hotel staff.

"Another suicide, eh?" one of the police spoke.

"It might be possible," said the other one.

They surrounded the whole area with police tapes and tried to get rid of the people watching.

"Go back to your rooms," said the police, assisting the people to stay back.

Raine ran towards her room. However, Vanessa was left at the crime scene.

She opened her laptop and hacked the hotel's security system.

From there she had access to the security cameras of the whole hotel.

"Room 307," she spoke. Indicating to the room where the crime happened.

She tried to search for the nearest camera to the crime when she suddenly saw the hotel's owner walking suspiciously at the corridor where they were standing.

She saw herself reading her book and Vanessa opening the door. There was no one near Room 307 except for them and the owner.

The lights then flicker and suddenly the owner was gone.

She waited until the lights turned back. That time, the owner was back walking away.

The thought that the owner might be the one who did that plays around her mind but there's something wrong. He was walking downstairs when someone screamed and he's the owner. Why on earth will he put stains on his hotel's reputation?

To better check the cause of death, she closed her laptop and rushed outside the room didn't noticing that someone's passing by.

"Ooff!"

Her glasses fell of the round. Leaving her sight a little blurry.

Out in the blurry surroundings, she stretched her arms trying to find her round glasses.

"Here!" She felt someone handed it to her. She immediately wore her glasses and was thrilled when she saw a familiar face.

"Wait, what?!" She gasped, "Zane?!"

"... And Lani," Zane replied. Pointing towards his approaching sister.

"What are you doing here?" the two asked in unison.

"We just... you know... just taking a vacation for the weekend," he replied.

"Zane!" Lani exclaimed. "Sorry, Raine, but we have to go now."

The two ran away towards the crime scene in a rush.

A strange feeling suddenly plays into Raine's mind. Leaving off her suspicions to what might happened earlier.
