Eloise

When I woke up, my brother wasn't in the room.

That made me frown, so I quickly washed up, changed my clothes, and went downstairs to look for him. I found him having breakfast with Eliah, Isa, and Temra. When the healer saw me, she greeted me with a nod, but I could sense the tension in her.

I didn't know why, but it was clear that this woman didn't entirely like me.

“Good morning,” I said calmly.

“Good morning,” they replied, and Emmett hugged me, so I kissed him on the head.

“Help yourself, Eloise; Elijah will be down shortly,” Isa said, and I nodded.

Elijah looked at Emmett with amusement and, seeing that he had already finished, sent him to one of the Omegas who was selecting flowers for the festival with James. My brother was in high spirits, and I knew immediately that Elijah's uncle wanted to say something in private.

Once Emmett's footsteps could be heard in the distance, he finally looked at Temra.

“Did you manage to get any information about the dark bond of slavery?

EloiseSeeing Aldo's attitude was a complete shock. This isn't your fault, Alondra said quickly. And yes, my she-wolf was right, but my father's fear had gone too far, so far that the consequences of his actions dragged a pack of good people through the mud.The weight of his actions felt like an anvil falling on my head.“It's not your fault,” Elijah whispered beside me. “The decisions that led your father to isolate this pack are not your fault.”I looked at Elijah's uncle with shame. And the questioning continued, with Bryan completely terrified in his seat.“That's no excuse,” Elijah said. "You had the option to leave. It was offered, so you could have left to better yourself, so to use the excuse that the herd limited you when you still had the option to thrive elsewhere is a blatant lie. You didn't leave because you didn't feel like it. So, you're not going to come and use that cheap psychology on us. You're a traitor, and as a result, you'll be treated as one, but not only that

EloiseOf all the things I could have imagined, realizing something like this was not one of them. The tension in the room had increased, creeping in like a constrictor snake, squeezing everyone there tighter and tighter. I lost myself in the words they were saying; the only thing my mind could see over and over again was the image of Hall rolling around with Giselle. At that point, it no longer burned, but I didn't know why; something about that memory felt inconsequential. It was brutal torture, yet I couldn't stop thinking about the fact that the man who was meant to make me happy was a damn miserable.I didn't understand how we could share something as sacred as the mate bond.Either it had been a mistake, as the soul theory suggested, or there was just something else.I squirmed in my chair before getting up.“I need to go outside,” I said, and no one said a word.Everyone nodded, but Elijah wasn't comfortable with it, so he grabbed his jacket and went out with me. He accompanied

EloiseElijah approached, and when he realized what I had seen, his face contorted completely. It was Nalia who dared to say what my mouth could not.“Do you have a dark bond of slavery?” the Gamma asked her brutally. The woman lowered her head and closed her mouth. She wasn't going to say anything because of the bond.“I thought this practice had been abolished centuries ago,” Elijah said, looking closely at the woman. “She is truly alienated and subjugated to her master.”The mention of the word made her raise her eyes and look at us.“Is Hall your master?” I asked in horror. She just smiled cynically and then began to bite her tongue, prompting Nalia to quickly move in and strike her on the temples, knocking her unconscious. I trembled.I couldn't help but think about the possibility that Hall had done that to me.“How did you know about it?” Nalia asked in amazement.“I read about the reactions of dark bond slaves,” I said with horror. “I had to explain that concept and write a th

Eloise“Who is that man?” Nalia asked suspiciously.“A dead man,” I said, and they frowned. “Literally, he's dead.”“What do you mean he’s dead?” Kael asked, confused.“He's the eldest son of my late father's wife, the brother of the woman my mate cheated on me with, and he's dead,” I said calmly, and they were surprised. "Really, Denzel was one of those who fell in the fight between the packs. He's one of the 60 dead who fell in the ambush by the Spiral Moon Pack on the Iron Bite Pack. I know this because right after his death, Dinora sought refuge in my family's pack and ended up marrying my father. But that was always her plan."“This is serious,” Elijah said. “Everyone goes through biometric checks and identity verification. Either this Denzel guy isn't dead, or someone stole his identity.”I nodded. This is much more dangerous than I thought, Alondra muttered.“There's a memorial grave in the Iron Bite Pack,” I said seriously. "Apparently, only a few remains were recovered from t

Eloise“What are you talking about?” I asked, confused. At that moment, Elijah walked in. There was nothing in his expression to suggest that Bryan or the woman had made any progress, but Keren explained to him what was really going on with the embezzled money. Elijah looked completely surprised, then he made a phone call that left me cold.“Hello, Grace,” he said, and I frowned, confused. "I need you to send me all the information on the account I'm sending you below, and I need a thorough review of the account owner and all associated accounts. I'm sending you the information. This is serious, very serious. We need to get this sorted out to avoid any unexpected events that could brutally affect the bank. If you can come in, I'd appreciate it."That's when I understood what Keren meant.I opened and closed my mouth several times in shock. The Dark Alpha wasn't just an isolated Alpha; he had much more money than anyone could imagine if he was an active partner in the wizards' liberal
