INKA'S POV

The wolves that came out were huge. Way bigger than normal. Moving like a pack that actually trained together.

Zane shot. Arrow hit one in the shoulder. Wolf barely reacted—just kept coming.

Zane dropped the bow and shifted. Met them head-on.

But these wolves weren’t playing. They circled, tested, looked for openings. One faked left, another hit from the side. Like professionals.

Zane was strong. Crazy strong. Fast.

But three on one. And they knew exactly what they were doing.

INKA'S POV In the kitchen Zane set a perfect espresso in front of me. “Temperature is just right.” Hunter slid a plate of tiramisu over. “Try.” I took a slow bite. Rich. Decadent. Sinful. “Amazing.” Hunter’s eyes flared. “Yes?” “Really amazing.” “I make good tiramisu too,” Seth said quietly. “I could” “Good,” Hunter said, leaning across the island until his lips were inches from mine. “Because I want to feed you like this every night. I want to watch your tongue wrap around every bite I give you.” My thighs squeezed together. Zane sat beside me, hand finding mine. “We are going to spend our lives proving you are everything.” Seth stepped closer. “Please. Five minutes” “No,” I said. Calm. Final. Seth stumbled back. “You heard her,” Hunter said, voice lethal. “She said no,” Zane added, colder. Seth’s face crumpled. “I was wrong” “Wrong does not erase what you did,” I said softly. Our eyes met. Through the bond it crashed over me again: regret so d

Downstairs smelled insane. Three different kinds of pasta. Fresh bread still warm from the oven. Garlic and herbs and tomatoes. And tiramisu sitting on the counter that looked almost illegal. "You made all this?" I stared at the spread covering the dining table. Hunter pulled out a chair. "Sit." "That's not an answer." "Sit," he repeated. Softer this time. "Please." I sat. Zane took the seat beside me. Hunter disappeared into the kitchen and came back with a glass of water. "Drink." Not a request. I drank. Both of them watched my throat work with every swallow. "Good girl," Hunter murmured. The praise hit me like a physical touch. Heat spread between my thighs. Seth appeared in the doorway. He looked wrecked. "Inka, I..." "Can you pass the bread?" I asked Hunter brightly. Seth's face crumpled. He sat down anyway. At the far end of the table. Hunter started loading my plate. Way too much food. "That's excessive..." "You need your strength back." Hi

INKA'S POV Dr. Martinez let me go after two days. The triplets were waiting in the hallway. Hunter moved first. He always did. His fingers slid into my hair, tucking a strand behind my ear. Then his thumb traced my jaw, slow and deliberate, before dragging across my bottom lip. "Hey," he said. Just that. But the way he looked at me... made my stomach flip. Zane took my bag before I could protest. "You're not carrying anything." "It's literally just..." "I've got it." His hand settled on my lower back, fingers spreading wide. Possessive. "Let us take care of you, Inka." Meanwhile Seth stood by the window. He looked like he hadn't slept. Our eyes met for half a second before I looked away. Not today, Seth. I'm still too angry. *** The car ride started quiet. I sat in the back between Zane and Seth. Hunter drove, but his eyes kept finding mine in the rearview mirror. Not checking traffic. Checking me. My mouth. My throat. The way my thin shirt clung after two days in a hospi

INKA'S POVI was floating in nothingness. Not in water. Not in air. Just suspended in empty space that felt neither cold nor warm. The darkness didn't scare me. It was quiet here. Peaceful. Like being wrapped in the world's heaviest blanket that somehow had no weight at all.Maybe this was what dying felt like.I should probably panic. But I was too tired. Tired of running, of being the walking disaster everyone blamed, of hearing "curse" every time someone looked at me.Maybe Seth was right. Maybe everyone would be better off if I just disappeared."Child."The voice rolled in from everywhere at once.Golden light bloomed in the darkness. Not harsh. Warm. A woman stepped out of the light.No...she was the light itself.I recognized her somehow. Not from photographs or stories Dad refused to tell. From somewhere deeper. "I am Elara," she said as she stopped directly in front of me. "Your mother's grandmother. Elena carried our blood with such grace, such strength. She passed it to yo

ZANE'S POV"Your brother is in pain," Dr. Martinez said quietly, returning to work on Inka. "People say things they don't mean when they're scared.""He meant every word.""Perhaps." The doctor was quiet for a moment. "But better you go see Hunter. I'll take care of her.""I can't leave her—""Zane." His voice was firm but kind. "There's nothing you can do here right now. She needs surgery to repair the damage. That will take time. Your brother is awake and asking for you. Go. I'll call you the second anything changes."Every instinct I had screamed at me to stay. To not leave her. But Hunter was awake and Hunter needed me too."Save her," I said, my voice breaking. "Please.""I'll do everything I can." He paused, looking down at Inka with an expression I couldn't quite read.I left. Hunter's room was two doors down. Seth stood outside, arms crossed. I pushed past him without a word and went in.Hunter was propped up slightly in the bed, eyes half-closed, IV lines running into both ar

ZANE'S POVI ran through the dark streets with Inka limp in my arms, her head lolling against my shoulder, her breathing too shallow, too slow."Stay with me," I kept saying, over and over like a prayer. "Please, baby, stay with me."She didn't respond. Her skin was cold. Too cold. The clinic lights burned bright ahead. I kicked through the doors, nearly knocking them off their hinges."DR. MARTINEZ!"The receptionist jumped, eyes going wide at the sight of us. Blood soaked through my shirt, dripped onto the floor."Get the doctor. NOW!"She scrambled for the phone.Dr. Martinez appeared from the hallway, took one look at Inka in my arms, and his expression shifted from annoyed to professional in a heartbeat."Exam room two. Move." Dr. Martinez was already clearing the exam table, snapping on gloves."She was stabbed. Silver blade." I laid her down as gently as I could. Her head rolled to the side. So pale. "She jumped in front of it. To save me."Dr. Martinez's hands froze mid-reach
