Chapter 3: Gentle to every moment

Augustus sat on a chair, looking at the interior of Sharmaine's house. His hand touched the souvenir on the bookshelf, looked again at the backlit family photo, Augustus was noticed by a picture of the young Sharmaine standing in the middle of the lavender forest, his head a bit painful.

Sharmaine came in from the living room to find Augustus curious about the world around him. She sat down next to him.

“First you should take a shower and change your clothes, your clothes, I have prepared them carefully.” When Sharmaine returned, she quickly went to the app to order clothes and belongings for Augustus.

Augustus showed the picture to Sharmaine: “Is this you?”

Sharmaine looked at the picture, her eyes slightly sad: "That's right, it's me."

“If I leave this place, can you give it to me?”

Sharmaine took the picture: "Why do you want it."

“Since I want to remember you, I don't want to forget you.” After Augustus said that, he took his clothes in Sharmaine's hands and went to the bathroom. Sharmaine leaned back in her chair, she looked at the photo of herself standing in the middle of the lavender forest, her smile shining, her eyes sparkling with happiness. Sharmaine used to have such a happy time, but it fell apart long ago.

The current Sharmaine just wanted to quickly achieve her goal. She needed to hasten the plan, but Sharmaine's heart said no.

--

The doorbell rang.

"I'm outta here." Sharmaine spoke up.

Sharmaine opened the door and immediately saw Osmund Chamberlain. The man was tall, his eyes were as deep as the sea, and the scent of plants wafted around him. He looked at Sharmaine, a warm smile appeared, he always showed tenderness towards Sharmaine.

“Why did you come here today?” Sharmaine was a bit taken aback. She quickly closed the door.

Osmund is the son of the police chief here, since Sharmaine moved here, Osmund is the one who cares and takes care of her the most. He took the initiative to help Sharmaine solve the difficulties she encountered.

"Can't I come see you?" Osmund smiled, he leaned forward. Sharmaine looked at him startled.

“Am I that scary?” Osmund spoke up.

Sharmaine shook her head: "No, you act like that, I'm not used to it."

Osmund sensed that Sharmaine had something to hide from him, her attitude was not normally like that. Just now when Sharmaine came out, she quickly closed the door, Osmund looked at Sharmaine, she left a scent that did not belong to humans.

Osmund brought before Sharmaine a basket of cakes: "This is what I want to bring to you."

Sharmaine took the strawberry basket: "I remember not being able to grow strawberries here."

“It's okay, if you like, I still try to bring you strawberries. You pretend to be stupid with me.” Osmund always shows that he loves her, but Sharmaine avoids him all the time.

“You know, I like living here, but I also like being alone.”

Osmund laughed, he understood that Sharmaine was a strange girl, a girl who went to school to teach and then returned home, her life was boring but it made her different from all other girls. Osmund liked the way Sharmaine smiled, liked the way she walked under the autumn trees, liked the way Sharmaine stood in the snow. He hoped, he could stand by Sharmaine's side, protect and protect her from all events.

Sharmaine looked at the strawberry basket: "I like to eat strawberries, thanks for the strawberries." Sharmaine doesn't turn down this favorite treat.

Osmund smiled: “I hope you eat well, it's late, you rest early, if you have free time, give me time to hang out with you.”

Sharmaine holding a basket of strawberries: "Okay, I remember."

Osmund raised his hand, he took the flower petals from Sharmaine's hair: "Goodbye, remember to call me when you have free time, you promised."

--

Sharmaine took a deep breath and opened the door to enter the house. Augustus stood in front of her, an unhappy look on his face. Sharmaine then smiled.

“I have something delicious for you, are you done with your shower?” Sharmaine put the strawberry basket on the table.

"You're dating a werewolf?"

"Huh, what do you say?" Sharmaine did not understand what Augustus just said.

“You smell like a wolf, it stinks.” Augustus's eyes showed hatred.

Sharmaine knelt down: "What are you talking about, wait for me to take a shower, then I'll make dinner for the two of us."

She looked at little Augustus and couldn't bear to raise his voice, this boy was too beautiful, his eyes were cold, but made him more handsome. Augustus if he was an adult man, he would definitely be extremely handsome and outstanding.

Augustus grabbed Sharmaine's shirt: "Sister, I don't like wolves but I like you, I don't like you with wolves." Augustus didn't know how he could sense the strange scent on Sharmaine, but he knew, he hated that scent.

"Maybe that person will hurt you." Augustus said, he was worried that Sharmaine would get hurt, even if it was just Sharmaine's hip-high child, but Augustus always thought that the girl he saw first, the girl who appeared in Augustus' memories, was a very important person. important. Even if Augustus eventually regains his memories, Sharmaine is still an important part of him.

Sharmaine touched Augustus' wet hair: "Sometimes I hope you stay this innocent forever, I can protect you." Sharmaine's eyes were filled with unspeakable emotions, with pity and affection in them.

Augustus, the child that Sharmaine brought back from the forest, but made her feel uneasy inside.

“Sister, I see you very familiar. Haven't you and I met somewhere before?" Augustus took Sharmaine's hand, this warmth and familiarity, Augustus felt so close.

Sharmaine smiled, fell to her knees and hugged Augustus: "I will protect you."

Augustus closed his eyes: "Go take a shower, I'll make dinner."

--

Sharmaine soaks in the tub. She looked at the scenery outside the window, the small town without noise and bustle. It's calm and quiet. Sharmaine looked at her hand, leaning her head against the wall. Immortal like Sharmaine was soon determined not to get involved in love, not only is she immortal but also has a connection to the Mohini vampire clan.

Sharmaine did not deny her origins nor abandon her mother. Sharmaine lived more than seventy years, she was like a shadow without emotions. She had to watch her beloved father die of old age, saying goodbye to everything familiar. Humans love immortality, but the price of it is loneliness.

Finished shower. Sharmaine stepped outside. On the dinner table, Augustus laid out a few simple things that were easy to cook in the fridge. The boy sat upright looking at the food on the table, when he heard the sound, his eyes moved to Sharmaine.

"I've prepared the food, you come eat."

Sharmaine smiled, the food was not new. Augustus was just an eight-year-old boy, but he knew how to care for others, extremely obedient. It had been a long time since Sharmaine had sensed the existence of other people.

"Thank you."

Augustus smiled: "I don't know how to cook, please teach me later, I will cook for you."

Sharmaine took Augustus a piece of bread: “Do you want to eat it?”

Augustus shook his head: "I don't like it, but I can give it a try." He took the piece of bread from Sharmaine's hand, tried a small piece, although the taste was bland but not too bad.

"How do you feel?"

“Not very good, but not bad either.”

"Ha ha, fine, then I'll take you out tomorrow."

"Go to play?"
