Mag-log inPearl's POV.
I twisted in Grim's arms, my heart slamming against my ribs as my gaze narrowed in on the figures stepping out of the shadows. "Well, well, well, look at whom we have here." Magnus snickered as he stepped into view, flanked by Griffin, Jaxon, and Nathaniel. Multiple emotions flooded me as I didn't even know how to react. I just stared, trying not to tremble under their deep gazes. "Quit being sarcastic, Magnus." Grim said coldly, shifting his stance to place himself protectively between me and the others. "So Gittens was right. She will come." Jaxon said out of the blue. My body stiffened. Gittens told them I would come? "Don't sound so surprised. He was always good at predicting her." Nathaniel nudged his brother, a smile dancing on his lips as he turned to stare at me deeply. All of them were. Goosebumps covered my entire body as I took my eyes to the ground, unable to look them in the face. My coming was meant to catch them off-guard, but it seemed I had a whistleblower, but how did he know? Was he stalking me or something? What was I missing? "What are you doing here, Pearl?" Griffin asked, his stern tone sending shivers down my spine. I lifted my trembling hand to my hair, scratching it as I searched for words to say. Suddenly, everything I'd rehearsed in my head vanished. What the hell was I thinking? I'd marched in here with confidence, thinking I could persuade them. But now… "If Gittens told you all I would be coming, then he must have also told you the reason." I struggled to say, my voice hoarse. I tried not to breathe too heavily. "Not really. He just mentioned us playing together again." Nathaniel countered, and I drifted into thoughts. Judging by this answer, Gittens does know my reason but why not share it with them explicitly? "I would like to know what is going on, it's why I came back quickly from Greece despite having businesses to attend to," Grim said and I looked him in the eyes. He grinned at me and my heart fluttered, my cheeks heating as I immediately looked away from him to the rest, who seemed to be glaring, or was I overthinking? Magnus, with his long red hair and ever-icy demeanour, leaned against the wall, biting his bottom lip. Griffin stood stiffly with his hands in his pockets, blinking those infuriatingly long lashes I used to envy. Nathaniel ran a hand through his white braided hair, lips twitching in a half-smirk. And Jaxon with features sharp enough to cut glass, folded his arms across his chest, unimpressed. These four weren't just my former teammates. They were my stepbrothers. And still, Grim was the one I'd always felt safest with. Especially after the Lilith incident. I wonder if she still hangs around them. No. I don't want to know. "I need your help." I began and Griffin laughed like I had just cracked a joke, his blue eyes burning with fury. "After running away for more than two years? Cutting all forms of contact with us?" He snarled and I gulped, feeling saliva gathering in my mouth. "Can you blame me?" I questioned, raising my head a bit, having no idea where this courage was coming from. I mean shouldn't I be trembling in fear? Griffin narrowed his eyes at me, looking taken aback while Grim seemed to be holding back a chuckle. "So now, you have grown balls? Took you so long after Lilith whooped your ass." Griffin mocked and I dug my nails into my palm, trying to stop the anger from rising in me. How dare he? "Enough Griffin. Let's hear her out." Magnus, the eldest of the quadruplet, cautioned, and Griffin shrugged. There was silence for a while, nobody saying anything as they all waited for me to say something. "My basketball team is falling behind, and I need you all to get on it; otherwise, I will get fired." I finally said and Jaxon hummed, placing a hand under his chin. He was more of a reaction guy, barely speaking unless necessary. "What makes you think we will all agree to help?" Nathaniel questioned and I let out a sigh. I never thought they would agree, but for them to ask such a question meant they might consider it right? "We are family?" I tried using that card and Magnus laughed. "Yeah right. Families disappear on one another." He snickered and Grim walked forward to place a hand on his shoulder. "You all can't exactly judge her for that, can you?" He covered up for me, and I couldn't be more grateful, but at the same time, wary. I knew Grim and what he was capable of. He doesn't help except he was sure of something in return. "Apart from that, Grim. She is an omega, we are Alphas, we can't be under her except w...." Jaxon tried saying when; "I am ready for that part as well." I cut in, my palms growing sweaty as I watched all of their jaws drop. Even Griffin who was backing us earlier, immediately turned around, his eyes widening in disbelief as they softened. "You are joking right?" He chuckled, trying to ease the tension when I took in a deep breath, trying to calm my racing heart as I removed my jacket slowly and threw it to the ground. My hands shook as I moved my hand to the back of my dress and unzipped it, about to drop it as well when Grim dashed forward. "Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! Let's all talk this out." He tried zipping up my dress back when I stopped him, blinking at him repeatedly. "I am ready." I insisted, not because I wanted to but because I didn't have a choice. Not if I wanted to win.Pearl's POV.I waited, holding my breath sharply for the announcement.Who was gonna be the Captain? My mind screamed it wasn't gonna be me or was it my low self-esteem?Why do I still feel like I couldn't measure up, despite getting into a tie with her? I mean it was an achievement whether I was in control of my body or not.I still had no explanation of what had happened earlier. All I knew was that I didn't want to lose to Lilith, I didn't want to bring more disgrace to myself and disappointment to others.I had the best match of my life and did not even know how it happened.'Was the moongoddess finally back on my side?' I pondered as I played with my fingers.Or was it the Alphas' encouragement? I had no answer. I could only close my eyes and wish whatever miracle was happening now would continue to go on."We have decided to have both of you as a Coach." The board member revealed and Lilith let out a gasp."But only one of you will be the head Coach." He continued and Lilith sm
Pearl's POV.This wasn't me. From when I started playing in the second half, something or someone took over my body entirely.First of all, I was a bad shooter, I couldn't score points, yet I was doing it as easily as eating while playing against Lilith. Not only that, I used three out of the six Alpha techniques.'How come?' I pondered, lost as I made my way out of the field, oblivious to the cheers going around. It was then that I noticed that some students in the school had come to watch the match."OMG! I never knew she was such a pro.""I know right. She defeated the prodigy, Lilith Ashbourne. I heard no other female has ever had such an honour." I almost laughed at those words. Defeat? I didn't defeat her; it was a fucking tie, but it was still enough to crush her.Whispers began to flow around and despite the pride swelling in my head, I was still confused about what had just happened. It was as if I was being controlled, or rather, what to do just sparked in my head, and I i
Jaxton's POV."We are not postponing this match," Pearl told me as she disengaged from the hug."But y.." I tried saying when she placed her finger on my lips."Shush, I will be fine." She smiled. "Thank you for the concern."I had no choice but to nod, watching as she left me and began running towards the field. Director Alex was in the court, the ball rolling on his middle finger as Lilith smirked."Ready to lose again?" She taunted and I felt rage burning in my veins. She had no right to try to bully Pearl again. I wanted to barge over but my wolf, Jeremy, stopped me in my tracks."Don't hurt Mate." He growled and my jaw tightened as I tried to get control back."I suggest you stop running your mouth or your disgrace would just be bigger." Pearl grinned as Director Alex tossed the ball into the air. They both jumped and Lilith grabbed it yet again. Both Grim and I let out a frustrated groan as we watched Lilith disappear to the court, about to toss the ball in, but what happened ne
Jaxton's POV.Anger brewed in me as Magnus dragged me outside."For someone who rarely shows emotions, that was a first," Magnus said and I gritted my teeth against one another."I can't believe she wants to quit." I snarled and Magnus let out a deep sigh."I was just as pissed when I heard what she said but then it's her decision." Magnus shrugged and I turned to glare at him.'What the hell was he saying?' I pondered."Just like it was her decision to get close enough to Dad that he molested her, countlessly?" I yelled, digging my nails into my palm.Magnus jolted like he had been struck by lightning and took his eyes downwards."What? Cat got your tongue?" I questioned and he returned my glare."Why can't you just forget the past?" He threw back the question at me and I scoffed."You yelled that to her years back, when she tried confiding in us what our father was doing to her." I pointed a finger at his chest."No wonder she ran away. Grim had to do the one thing we should have don
Pearl's POV."Damn!" Director Alex exclaimed, the side of his lips curling in satisfaction as he walked out of the field.I stood there, stunned. How was she so fast?"Pearl, Get her." Elara yelled and I turned to see her waving at me with a determined expression. I clenched my fists and dashed after Lilith who was about to score another point when I jumped and pushed the ball out of her hands. But before I could land back on my feet, she already grabbed the ball again and scored yet another. The ball bounced and I hurriedly dashed towards it but then, mist appeared out of nowhere and I tried navigating but they soon disappeared and I saw Lilith was already back at the court, slamming the ball into the basket hard.Lilith was a Beta wolf at rank and she just used her greatest technique. Creating mists out of nothing to distract the opponent.'I was an omega and had no fancy techniques like that. I was so screwed.' I thought as I felt my heart skipping a beat in fear especially when Git
Pearl's POV.This couldn't be happening. I began to breathe heavily, my hands trembling, the phone almost slipping off the floor. "Pearl, get a grip on yourself." Magnus snapped, grabbing me by the shoulders, while Jaxton went towards my bed and saw the bag of snacks on my desk.He grabbed the half-finished juice box, opened it, and sniffed the contents."Who gave you this?" He asked."I d-don't know," I replied as I released myself from Magnus' hold to dash into my closet."And you drank it? It's been drugged with sleeping pills." Jaxton half-yelled from my room and I froze."Now it all makes sense," Magnus said and I ran out of the closet to grab the juice from Jaxon."What do you need it for?" He questioned but I ignored him and looked inside well to see some whitish substance swimming about. The juice fell to the ground, splattering and Magnus immediately grabbed a mop to clean the mess.I was drugged? By Whom? Why?Just then I remembered who came to see me an hour ago."Gittens d
