Another explosion rocked the walls as the wraith screamed again, its chains whipping around and shattering a statue near the moon fountain.

I sprinted back into the square, casting a dome of wind over the burning side gate just as more civilians fled into the open. One limped with a broken leg. One carried a baby. One was already bleeding out. I couldn’t reach them all.

But I could stand here.

I could fight.

And just as another orc-beast reared its head, roaring toward the castle—

Edric landed.

Golden wings spread like judgment, his axe burning in his grip. He slammed into the monster mid-charge, lightning and fire exploding around him.

He didn’t need to say anything.

His presence said it all.

We weren’t falling today.

Not without ripping the rift apart first.

And as I turned, wind rushing in my ears, lightning in my veins, I met the wraith’s gaze and whispered, “Let’s end this.”

Because this morning wasn't the dawn of peace.

It was the dawn of reckoning.

And I was no longer just th

I let it hang there a moment, my eyes tracing the lines of the council table. The memories that still flickered like shards of broken glass through my mind.A man’s face. A war I lost. A world I burned. But… I wasn’t that woman now. Not entirely. When I spoke, my voice was soft. Calm. But every ear turned. “The Moon Queen does not answer to dukes,” I said quietly, looking directly at Nicholas. “Nor to merchant guilds. Nor even to the Divine Realms.”His jaw tensed, just slightly.“I may not remember everything,” I continued, voice gaining strength, “but I remember this: I am the balance between realms. You do not argue over trade stones while shadows gather.”The lights in the ceiling flared suddenly brighter as if punctuating my words. Some of the nobles shifted uncomfortably. “Let me make myself clear,” I said. “The Old Realm’s strength is not in its stones, its borders, or its immortal years. It is in its unity. And unity begins here.”Khalisto’s dark eyes narrowed. But to my surpr

I swallowed down the lump in my throat as Serian slowed, his expression unreadable. It was Serian who finally broke the silence.“This place waited for you,” he said quietly, hands clasped behind his back. “For millennia.”My voice came rough, softer than I meant.“What happened when I slept?”He didn’t hesitate.“You destroyed the New Realm. The one where you lived before. The one where you had...” His jaw flexed slightly. “Where you had people you cared for.”I stopped walking. My fingers curled into fists.Serian turned to me, his gaze like molten amber in the light.“You lost control, my lady. That’s why your body returned here. Your soul burned everything until the only thing left was this place. Your origin. Your resting ground.”I didn’t want to believe it.But the ache in my chest told me it was true.I remembered—The storm. The light.A man’s face. The faces of the children.“Everyone...” I breathed, voice breaking. “Everyone I loved...”Serian didn’t reach for me. But he di

“What? You forgot? I am your guardian.”“Who?” The rabbit rolled its eyes. “I am Gold. You named me.”Ahhh!Well…why does it feel like I wanted to cry? But…This world wasn’t made for tears. But I did breathe. For the first time in what felt like lifetimes. And I listened. To the magic. To the wind. To the power singing in my veins.Because this place…was familiar…but something was missing. I know. But it feels like the beginning of something. Before the world that I broke. Before the throne. Before love. Before him.…him?Who?I looked around, I know this place. This was the Old Realm.Where I was born. No…created. Where I was feared. Where even the gods once whispered my name like a warning. The Moon Queen. And now, I had returned— Not to rule. Not to conquer. But to remember who I was?…before I became a weapon? And maybe—just maybe— To find out if I could become something more? Not a curse. Not a queen. But something new? Because somewhere, far away from this realm, a world I o

And then…Nothing. No sound. No flame. No body.Just me. Floating. Somewhere.Nowhere. My breath—gone. My skin—gone. My body—unfelt. But I could think. I could remember. And remembering… hurt.Because I saw Edric’s face before the blast.I saw Mr. Yellow screaming my name.I saw Norma and the children from the village, wide-eyed and running. And I saw fire take them all.Because of me.Because I couldn’t stop.Because I didn’t know how to hold back.Because in the end…I wasn’t the Moon Queen.I was the Moon’s curse.I tried to scream again, but there was no voice. Only a heartbeat. Dull. Weak. But there.I survived. But what was I now?A queen of ash?A goddess of nothing? They were all gone. And I— I was alone.Trapped in the silence I made.&nbs

And as the sky rumbled, and the castle shook from another breach, I took a deep breath. And stepped toward the storm.Because if Aldrian wanted my soul—He was going to have to rip it from my burning hands.I hit the ground hard. The world spun. My breath seized. The taste of blood filled my mouth—sharp, coppery, bitter like betrayal. Dirt and ash bit into my cheek. Rain slapped my back like punishment from the gods.Mr. Yellow’s voice cracked through the chaos.“KYLA!”I blinked. Once. Twice. The clouds above me swirled, and lightning arced in pale blue threads, as if the storm itself didn’t know whose side it was on anymore.Aldrian’s voice followed, louder than thunder, colder than grave dirt.“I WILL KILL YOU, KYLA.”And then I saw him.Charging. Not running—gliding. His feet didn’t even fully touch the ground. His body pulsed with veins of green-black fire. His eyes, once the eyes of a boy I used to run through the forest with, were now pits of soulless void.He was no longer a w

A war priest to my right tried to raise a shield over the gate—but Florence’s lightning found him, struck him dead mid-chant. He crumpled, eyes wide, smoke curling from his mouth.Florence’s voice carried above the wind. Cold. Commanding.“You cannot outrun fate, Moon Queen. You are not chosen. You are a lie born of stolen light. Your kingdom will burn—and your crown will crack upon the altar of truth.”I raised my hand and hurled wind so sharp it sliced through one of her witches—splitting the woman from shoulder to hip—but Florence didn’t even blink. She only smiled wider.Mr. Yellow scrambled beside me, now wearing war goggles and dragging a mana rifle three times his size. “Okay. Okay. Scale of one to ‘we’re all going to die,’ how bad do you think this is?”“Ten,” I growled, charging another blast of storm magic.Carrotini, smudged with soot and sauce, wheeled up in a stolen soup pot like a war chariot. “Permission to trigger the cheese cannon?”“We have a cheese cannon?” I asked,
