IVY POV

I sat on the guest room bed with my shoulders slumped, eyes swollen and my throat was dry.

Then my phone rang.

Tara.

I picked up.

“Ivy?” Tara’s voice came through. “Is that you?”

“It is me.” I said weakly.

“What is wrong with your voice?” Tara’s voice sounded worried over the phone. “Why do you sound like that? Why do you so sound so weak?”

I opened my mouth. But nothing came out.

“Ivy. Talk to me. What happened?”

“I found him.” I sobbed. “I found Damon. In our bed. With another woman.”

There was silence.

“Who?” Tara’s voice was low. “Who was it?”

“Serena.”

“Serena?” Tara shrieked. “The Serena? The one from the past? The one he said he had forgotten?”

“Yes.”

“That bitch!” Tara yelled. “And Damon? That demon? He said he had moved on. He said she meant nothing. Why are men like this? Who can trust them?”

“I trusted him for seven years.”

“Seven years!” Tara’s voice was shaking. “You gave him seven years of your life! You gave him a son. You have him everything. And look at what he is doing to you.”

“It gets worse.”

“Worse? How can it get worse?”

“This morning….” My voice broke into a sob. “Serena was in Miles room. She was dressing him for school.”

“What?”

“He called her Mommy, Tara. He called her Mommy. And he called me Ivy.”

Tara cursed loudly and I heard her pacing.

“Mikes pulled away from me. He said he wanted her. Not me.”

“That is sick.” Tara was breathing hard over the phone. “She is sick. He is sick.”

“Then Damon came. He told me to back off. He said Serena will be his mother now. He said I can assist her. Like a servant.”

“I hate him.” Tara’s voice was cold. “I hate both of them.”

“I do not know what to do, Tara.”

“You need to leave, Ivy.” Tara’s voice was firm. “You need to leave that place. You are not being respected there. You are being destroyed.”

“I can not.”

“What not?”

“Miles.” I wiped the tears off my face. “He is my son. Even if they treat me like crap. I can not leave him.”

“They are turning him against you.”

“I know. But he is five. He does not understand. Maybe one day he will.”

Tara sighed heavily. “What about your family? Your brothers?”

I froze mid sob. “What about them?”

“You told me about them before. Pedro and Liam.”

“I have not heard from them since I was young.” I replied coldly. “They left me. They went on a vacation and never came back.”

“Have you ever tried to find them?”

“No.” I shook my head. “Why would I do that? They abandoned me. I do not need them.”

Tara became quiet for a moment. Then she said calmly, “Ivy, I have done some research. I think I can trace where they are.”

“I do not care.”

“Ivy—”

“I said I do not care.” I hissed sharply. “They left me when I needed them. I do not want them now.”

Tara did not push. “Okay. Okay. I am sorry.”

Then I heard a knock at the door.

“Someone is here.” I said softly and stood up. “I will call you back.”

“Okay. Be safe.”

I hung up.

I walked over to the door and opened it.

Troy stood there. Damon’s beta, with a white envelope in his hand.

“What do you want?” I asked.

“Alpha sent me.” He said flatly. “He said to give you this.”

He held out the envelope.

“What is it?”

“Compensation.” He replied coldly without even blinking. “For your distress. So you can move on.”

I took it and opened it and saw a check inside.

I laughed shakily. “He is paying me to shut up.”

“Alpha said you should take it.” Troy said bluntly. “Things have changed. You are not his wife anymore.”

“Not his wife?” I looked up at him and hissed. “I carried his child. I raised his son. I gave seven years of my life to this pack. And he sends money like I am nothing?”

Troy clenched his jaw tight. “You should take the money. It is a good offer.”

“I am Miles’s mother.” my voice shook with anger and pain. “I have every right to be angry. Samon has no right to pay me off.”

“You are making this harder than it needs to be.” Troy replied coldly. “Take the money and know your place. Have some shame. Have some dignity.”

He words landed on me like a slap.

“Get out.”

“Ivy—”

“Get out of my room now!”

I threw the envelope at his chest. It hit him and fell on the floor.

Troy stood rooted on the spot and stared at me. For a second there was something close to pity in his eyes, then he turned and walked away.

I slammed the door shut and took deep breaths as I looked down at my shaking hands.

Then my phone rang again.

Tara.

I picked it up. “What?”

“I know you are angry with me.” Her voice came out shakily. “But I had to do what I had to do.”

“What are you talking about?”

“Ivy I am sorry.” Tara inhaled deeply. “But I can not let my best friend suffer like this. I had to do something.”

“What did you do, Tara?”

Silence.

“Tara. What did you do?”

“I found your brothers.”

I froze.

“You what?”

“I found Pedro and Liam.” Tara’s voice cracked. “And they are coming, Ivy. They are coming to get you.”

IVY’S POVThe morning sun was warm on my face when I opened my eyes, and for the first time in a very long time, I did not feel the weight of the world pressing down on my chest.I felt different. Lighter and more free. Like I had finally made a decision that I had been avoiding for too long.I got out of bed and walked to the bathroom, and when I looked at myself in the mirror, I saw a woman who looked ready for something new. My eyes were bright and my skin was glowing. As I admired my reflection in the mirror, my lips curved up into a small smile.I was going to see Kael today. And I was not going to be the same woman who walked into his office weeks ago, scared and defensive and ready to fight. Today, I was going to be someone else. Someone who was ready to let go and who was finally ready to feel. I took a long shower and let the hot water wash away the tension that had been building in my shoulders for months. I dried my hair and let it fall loose around my shoulders. Then I pu

KAEL’S POVThe night had been endless, and I had spent most of it staring at the ceiling, replaying her message over and over again in my head until the words merged together and lost all meaning.I need to see you. Those four words have been burning in my mind since the moment I read them, and no matter how I tried to push them away, they kept coming back, each time with a different meaning, a different possibility, or a different fear. What did she want to say? Was she going to reject me? Was she going to accept my proposal? Had something happened that she needed to tell me in person? I did not know, and did not knowing was driving me insane.I had replied to her message quickly, and my fingers had moved before my brain could catch up. “Where do you want to meet?”Her reply had come a few minutes later and she had suggested to meet at a quiet cafe in the morning. The meeting place was simple, neutral and it felt safe.I had not slept at all after that. I had spent the rest of the ni

IVY’S POVThe tea shop was quiet and cozy, with soft music playing in the background and the smell of fresh tea leaves in the air, but I did not feel cozy at all because my mind was still spinning from everything that had happened earlier in the day.Tara was already sitting at a table in the corner when Zara and I walked in, and she looked up at us with a smile that quickly faded when she saw the expression on my face.“Something is wrong,” she said immediately. “I can see it on your face. What happened?”Zara and I sat down. Then Zara spoke first, her voice sounding low and serious as she told Tara everything about Miranda confronting us in the parking lot after the signing, about the things Miranda had said, and about her warning that Kael would eventually get bored and throw me away.Tara listened carefully, with her eyes narrowing every second as Zara finished the story, and then she shook her head slowly before speaking. “Do not mind that jealous witch. She knows Kael is out of

KAEL’S POVThe evening was quiet at my house, and I was sitting in my study, staring at the same page of a report for the past ten minutes without reading a single word.My mind was not at work. It was on her.I had not heard from Ivy since she left my house and I did not know if she had signed the contract. I did not even know if she was thinking about me. I did not know anything. My phone rang and I picked it up. It was my assistant.“Alpha Kael,” he said. “I just received word from the investors. Ivy Morgan has signed the contract.”I leaned back in my chair and nodded. “Good.”“She signed it this morning, and everything went smoothly.”“That is all.”“Yes Alpha.”Then I hung up.I sat there for a moment, staring at the phone. She had signed it finally. So the contract was hers, then had gotten what she wanted.I should be happy for her. Actually, I was happy for her. But there was something else in my chest and it was very heavy. Something that made me want to call her and hear he

IVY’S POVThe building was tall and modern, and the lobby was so clean that I could see my reflection on the black tiles as Zara and I walked towards the elevator.I had been nervous all morning. My hands were cold and my stomach was tight. But I kept my face calm and walked with steady steps.“You look like you are going to your own funeral,” Zara said beside me.“I feel like I am going to my own funeral,” I agreed.“Relax,” she said in a soothing voice. “You already won. You are just here to sign the papers which is a formality.”“I know,” I whispered nervously. “But I can not shake this feeling.”Zara looked at me and asked, “what feeling?”“That something is going to go wrong.”“Nothing is going to go wrong, Ivy. You have the contract because you earned it. So just go in there and sign the damn papers, and get out.”I nodded, but the knot in my stomach did not go away.We took the elevator to the top floor and a receptionist led us to a large conference room with a long table and

IVY’S POVThe afternoon had passed by slowly, and I had spent most of it sitting on my apartment, staring at the notification on my phone and trying to figure out how I was supposed to feel about it.The contract was mine. I had won. I had gotten everything I had been fighting for since the moment I arrived in this city. But I did not feel like celebrating.I felt confused and I felt lost. I felt I was standing at the edge of a cliff and I did not know if I should jump or step back. Everytime I closed my eyes, I saw Kael’s face and everytime I tried to focus on something else I heard his voice.I am attracted to you, Ivy.I will wait.I pressed my palms against my eyes, ignoring the sharp pain that followed and let out a long, frustrated breath.Tara was sitting on the couch across from me, watching me with worried eyes. She had been quiet for a while, giving me space to think, but I could tell she was about to break the silence.“You have been staring at that phone for over an hour,”
