IVY POV

The car was dead quiet.

Pedro was driving with Liam on the passenger seat, while I sat in the back, staring out the window.

Snowrich Pack had disappeared behind me.

But I did not look back.

We drove for hours. I was quiet throughout our trip, I did not ask where we were going because I did not care.

When the car stopped, we were in front of a hotel. A small quiet one.

Pedro sighed heavily, then turned to look at me and said calmly, “We will stay here tonight. Just for now.”

I pressed my lips together and did not say a word.

He got a room for me. One room. Just for me while they took the next rooms beside mine.

I walked into the room, closed the door and made sure it’s locked, before I fell apart.

I sank on the floor, with my back against the door and cried hot, fresh tears that I could not stop.

I cried for Miles. For his smile. For the way he used to run to me. Now he ran to her.

I cried for Damon. For the years I wasted. For the love I gave that he never wanted and respected.

I cried for myself. For the woman I used to be. The one who believed in love. The one who thought she could fix a broken man.

I cried until my chest hurt. Until I could not breathe. Until there was no nothing left.

Then I heard a knock.

It sounded very soft and careful.

“Ivy?” Tara’s voice came from the other side. “Ivy, it is me. Open the door.”

I shook my head and did not move.

“Ivy please. Let me in.”

I wiped my face shakily with the back of my hands and unlocked the door.

Tara stood there with reddened eyes like she had been crying too.

She stepped inside and pulled me into a tight hug. I did not hug her back at first. I just stood there with my hands dangling at my sides, stiff and broken.

Then something inside me cracked open.

I grabbed her and held on tightly. Then I cried like my life depended on it.

“Why did you do it?” My voice came out muffled on her shoulder. “Why did you call them?”

“Because I could not watch you die there.” Tara replied softly. “You were dying, Ivy. Every day. And you did not even see it.”

“I lost everything.”

“You lost nothing that was worth keeping.” Tara said softly and pulled back. Then she looked at my face. “Damon was never yours. Serena was always waiting. And Miles….”

She stopped abruptly.

Then she continued carefully. “Miles is five. He is young. He does not understand. But one day, he will. And he will come back to you.”

“You do not know that.”

“I know you.” Tara said softly and held my hands with an intense look in her eyes. “You are the strongest person I know. You survived them leaving. You survived years of loneliness. You will survive this too.”

“I do not feel strong.”

“You do not have to feel it.” Tara said calmly and squeezed my hands. “You just have to keep going.”

I pulled away and walked over to the window. The sun was setting, already going down gradually, bathing the sky with streaks of orange and red. Like fire.

“I thought I would find peace with him.” I said quietly. “I thought I would finally have a place. A family. A home.”

“He was never your home, Ivy. He was just a place you stayed for too long.”

I turned to look at her and asked brokenly, “what do I do now?”

Tara shrugged her shoulders and replied breathlessly, “You live. You breathe. You wake up tomorrow. And the next day. And the next. Until one day, it doesn’t hurt as much.”

“That sounds terrible.”

“It is.” Tara replied soothingly with a sad smile on her face. “But it is the truth.”

I sat on the bed and noticed the white sheets. It was clean and sparkling, nothing like the guest room in Damon’s house.

“I do not know who I am anymore.”

“Then find out.” Tara said and sat next to me. “You were always more than his wife. More than Miles’s mother. You were Ivy. Before all of them. Find her again.”

I thought about the woman I used to be. The one who had dreams. The one who built something from nothing. The one who buried herself to become some else’s shadow.

“She is still in there.” Tara said softly. “She is waiting for you to come back.”

I looked at my hands. They were empty. But they could hold something new.

“I am so angry.” My voice broke. “At Damon. At Serena. At my brothers. At you.”

“I know.”

“At myself.”

“I know.”

“I wasted seven years.”

“You learned for seven years.” Tara corrected me. “Now you use what you learned.”

I lay back on the bed and stared at the white ceiling. It was blank. Like a new page.

“I want to rebuild.” I said softly. “Not for anyone else. For myself.”

Tara nodded. “Then rebuild.”

“I do not know where to start.”

“You start small.” Tara said softly and lay next to me. “One day at a time. One step at a time.”

I closed my eyes and thought about Miles. The pain was still there. It would always be there.

But maybe….maybe I could carry it.

Maybe I could grow around it.

Maybe I could become something new.

“I will rebuild.” I whispered. “I will find her again. The woman I used to be.”

Tara held my hand and said with determination in her voice, “I will be right here. Every step.”

I did not know what tomorrow would bring.

But for the first time in seven years, I wanted to find out.

  • REJECTED FOR HIS FIRST LOVE    CHAPTER 60

IVY’S POVThe morning sun was warm on my face when I opened my eyes, and for the first time in a very long time, I did not feel the weight of the world pressing down on my chest.I felt different. Lighter and more free. Like I had finally made a decision that I had been avoiding for too long.I got out of bed and walked to the bathroom, and when I looked at myself in the mirror, I saw a woman who looked ready for something new. My eyes were bright and my skin was glowing. As I admired my reflection in the mirror, my lips curved up into a small smile.I was going to see Kael today. And I was not going to be the same woman who walked into his office weeks ago, scared and defensive and ready to fight. Today, I was going to be someone else. Someone who was ready to let go and who was finally ready to feel. I took a long shower and let the hot water wash away the tension that had been building in my shoulders for months. I dried my hair and let it fall loose around my shoulders. Then I pu

KAEL’S POVThe night had been endless, and I had spent most of it staring at the ceiling, replaying her message over and over again in my head until the words merged together and lost all meaning.I need to see you. Those four words have been burning in my mind since the moment I read them, and no matter how I tried to push them away, they kept coming back, each time with a different meaning, a different possibility, or a different fear. What did she want to say? Was she going to reject me? Was she going to accept my proposal? Had something happened that she needed to tell me in person? I did not know, and did not knowing was driving me insane.I had replied to her message quickly, and my fingers had moved before my brain could catch up. “Where do you want to meet?”Her reply had come a few minutes later and she had suggested to meet at a quiet cafe in the morning. The meeting place was simple, neutral and it felt safe.I had not slept at all after that. I had spent the rest of the ni

IVY’S POVThe tea shop was quiet and cozy, with soft music playing in the background and the smell of fresh tea leaves in the air, but I did not feel cozy at all because my mind was still spinning from everything that had happened earlier in the day.Tara was already sitting at a table in the corner when Zara and I walked in, and she looked up at us with a smile that quickly faded when she saw the expression on my face.“Something is wrong,” she said immediately. “I can see it on your face. What happened?”Zara and I sat down. Then Zara spoke first, her voice sounding low and serious as she told Tara everything about Miranda confronting us in the parking lot after the signing, about the things Miranda had said, and about her warning that Kael would eventually get bored and throw me away.Tara listened carefully, with her eyes narrowing every second as Zara finished the story, and then she shook her head slowly before speaking. “Do not mind that jealous witch. She knows Kael is out of

KAEL’S POVThe evening was quiet at my house, and I was sitting in my study, staring at the same page of a report for the past ten minutes without reading a single word.My mind was not at work. It was on her.I had not heard from Ivy since she left my house and I did not know if she had signed the contract. I did not even know if she was thinking about me. I did not know anything. My phone rang and I picked it up. It was my assistant.“Alpha Kael,” he said. “I just received word from the investors. Ivy Morgan has signed the contract.”I leaned back in my chair and nodded. “Good.”“She signed it this morning, and everything went smoothly.”“That is all.”“Yes Alpha.”Then I hung up.I sat there for a moment, staring at the phone. She had signed it finally. So the contract was hers, then had gotten what she wanted.I should be happy for her. Actually, I was happy for her. But there was something else in my chest and it was very heavy. Something that made me want to call her and hear he

IVY’S POVThe building was tall and modern, and the lobby was so clean that I could see my reflection on the black tiles as Zara and I walked towards the elevator.I had been nervous all morning. My hands were cold and my stomach was tight. But I kept my face calm and walked with steady steps.“You look like you are going to your own funeral,” Zara said beside me.“I feel like I am going to my own funeral,” I agreed.“Relax,” she said in a soothing voice. “You already won. You are just here to sign the papers which is a formality.”“I know,” I whispered nervously. “But I can not shake this feeling.”Zara looked at me and asked, “what feeling?”“That something is going to go wrong.”“Nothing is going to go wrong, Ivy. You have the contract because you earned it. So just go in there and sign the damn papers, and get out.”I nodded, but the knot in my stomach did not go away.We took the elevator to the top floor and a receptionist led us to a large conference room with a long table and

IVY’S POVThe afternoon had passed by slowly, and I had spent most of it sitting on my apartment, staring at the notification on my phone and trying to figure out how I was supposed to feel about it.The contract was mine. I had won. I had gotten everything I had been fighting for since the moment I arrived in this city. But I did not feel like celebrating.I felt confused and I felt lost. I felt I was standing at the edge of a cliff and I did not know if I should jump or step back. Everytime I closed my eyes, I saw Kael’s face and everytime I tried to focus on something else I heard his voice.I am attracted to you, Ivy.I will wait.I pressed my palms against my eyes, ignoring the sharp pain that followed and let out a long, frustrated breath.Tara was sitting on the couch across from me, watching me with worried eyes. She had been quiet for a while, giving me space to think, but I could tell she was about to break the silence.“You have been staring at that phone for over an hour,”
