Ansel and I remained frozen, the weight of Seraphina’s revelation crashing down on us like a tidal wave. The enormity of the situation had yet to fully sink in, leaving us both dazed and speechless. Seraphina, my mother, had just revealed a plot that threatened not only our family but the very existence of our kind.
