His Majesty was sitting on his throne, one leg resting over the other, asserting his dominance while I was inclined on the steps from the throne.
Instead of cleaning, I was staring at the arrow which contained Darius’ blood on it. Limitless unwanted thoughts began to rush inside my mind.
‘Why didn’t you demand justice for me, Darius? Where was this desperation and when I was in pain? Were we nothing-’
But, before I could drown in them, he dragged me out from my thoughts.
“What are you planning to do next, Athena?”
Blinking, I came to realize that I went into a haze with ponderings I wanted to neglect and lowered the arrow with dried blood.
“I won’t do anything now. I will let him make his next move.” I informed calmly, curling my lips in a smirk darkly.
Leaning forward to me with amusement, he raised his eyebrow.
“Why?”
“I only wanted to initiate the beginning of my resentment. Now I want to see what he can do to avenge his beloved Blue.”
Chuckling to reflect all my imperil intentions, I raised the arrow and waved it at him to show that it only marked the start.
“I have made my move, it was now his turn.”
But when he witnessed my calmness, he decided to ravage it. Humming, he leaned back on his seat and rested his one leg over the other.
“Does it hurt to find him caring for Blue more than he ever cared for you?” It does.
Hitting where it hurts the most. My shoulders tense for a brief second but burying it inside me again, my smirk grew wider.
I began to trace my finger on the arrow, telling him that harsh reality I was unable to change. The fate which separated us first.
“She is his mate, My Lord. His worry and desire for revenge is natural. His feelings for his mate are much stronger than any bond.”
I couldn’t stop him from loving his mate. I couldn’t break the bond he shared with her.
But, it hardened my expression as I turned and stared into My Lord’s eyes with a clenched jaw, taunting.
“He is just a werewolf in the end after all.”
My Lord’s amusement died the second I mocked. It was unintentionally directed towards all werewolves.
“Shall I consider it a taunt to me as well?” He said seriously, warning me with his eyes to not speak what could displease him.
I smiled. It made me smile sorrowfully. Bowing slightly, I shook my head in denial.
Telling him who taught me those words in the first place.
“No. It was only directed to him. He would be loyal to his mate, not a human lover. ‘I am just a werewolf in the end after all, Athena. We were never meant to be.’”
I quoted his statement. The words he told me before ruthlessly breaking us apart.
They hurt back then and now I could only laugh at how innocent I used to be that I allowed the facts to shatter my heart.
“Ah, I couldn’t believe how silly I used to be.” I laughed, shaking my head in disappointment.
My Lord raised his eyebrows in suspicion when I began to laugh but I couldn’t help it. I was naïve, I was immature.
He witnessed my state for a few moments before asking vaguely.
“Don’t you feel you bargained more than you needed sometimes? What if it turned out to be a ruse?”
Dying my laugh, I took a deep breath, regaining my senses and turning back to him with my pure dedication, shaking my head in denial.
“I don’t. I won’t have a purpose in life after my revenge and since you are helping me, I will gladly devote my life to you.” I spoke without thinking twice which brought the deadly smirk back to his lips.
“Your dedication has made you my favorite, Athena.” He praised me but honestly, I had nothing to cherish either.
“This is my honor,” I bowed, resting my hand over my heart as a display of my loyalty.
I gathered my things and rose from the steps to leave but I paused.
“Um.. Can I ask for something, My Lord?” I asked hesitantly, knowing it would make him pissed but I did.
“Ask away. You have pleased me.” He smirked, waving his hand at me to continue.
Nodding, I cleared my throat.
“I want to go back and see him wail at his Luna’s funeral. I wanted to see him miserable again.”
That wiped his smirk instantly. Furrowing his eyes, his posture got serious again.
“You do realize he is in a dangerous condition. That he is devastated and could do anything, right?” He asked, repeating that condition I wholeheartedly gave him.
It delighted me to hear that.
“Yes. But, what can he do apart from hurting me physically?” Resting my hand over my waist, I put my hand in the air to shrug this matter off.
No matter what he would do to me, I wanted to witness his despair. That would give me mental peace. I want to see him suffer.
I want him to feel how devastating it is to lose the one you love.
“I can allow you but I won’t be responsible if he ends up killing you in hatred and wrath.” He added, narrowing his eyes to warn me before I leave.
“Don’t worry. Your huntress is not that weak.” I reassured him, securing my bow and arrow on my shoulder.
“Take care of yourself, Athena. Do not forget why you exist with me. You have a purpose to complete.” He sighed, motioning to me to leave.
“I will, Mr Lord.”
With a final bow of respect, I changed into my Red Huntress uniform, prepared myself for any attack and went to see how heartbroken he must be to lose his Blue.
He was sorrowful, he must be roaming wildly, alone in the woods. I didn’t want to remember anything related to him but I was right.
He was there.
I didn’t hide my presence with silver this time and appeared before him. Arms folded at my chest, scanning his body from top to bottom.
“Well, well, wallowing in grief alone?” I mocked, arching an eyebrow in amusement.
He paused, panting heavily with sweat rolling down his cheek mixed with tears and it all turned into a glare when he saw me before him.
“What more you want you fucking heartless murderer?” Growling, he came closer.
The resentment, the rage gleaming in his eyes was clear. He was burning with hatred, with the urge to rip me apart.
Breathless, anguish, wrathful. His storm of distress satisfied me.
“How much does it hurt?” I smirked coldly, raising my brows at him.
Before I could register, he grabbed my arms roughly, wiping the smirk on my face to be held by him after five years.
My heart unwillingly skipped a beat, a sting traveled to my core when those arms felt cold now. It hurt.
“You wanted me to feel the same, huh? Must be tranquilizing, right?”
Losing his mind in fury, he pushed me against the tree, glaring down at my soul, losing his breaths.
“Is your revenge completed now that you have weakened me and took away my Luna?!”
Yelling, he slammed his hand beside my head.
And not showing a single reaction to his anger. I kept staring at his face. My jaw clenched, returning the same glare as I asked.
“Do you have a child?”
His jaw dropped, eyes widened in disbelief, causing him to take a step back with a glimpse of disgust. I smiled at his reaction.
Running his hand in his hair, scattered them over his handsome face, he closed his eyes to take a deep breath and control his emotions.
“You have gone blind in hatred, Athena.” He breathed out compassionately.
It pricked me, growling back, I pushed his chest furiously and grabbed his shirt, forcing him to stare back into my blazing eyes.
I wanted him to see what he did to me.
“I have gone blind or you made me, Darius? Do you think your damn sorrow can make me forget what you did to me?” I scowled, forcing the lump in my throat to not shatter before him at least.
“You fucking killed my innocence!”
Yelling, I pushed him back as well, returning the same resentful glare.
I never imagined that a day would come where we both would hold nothing but crystal-clear hostility but that was what we call destiny.
Circumstances change.
“What difference is going to remain between me and you if you would repeat what I did?” He asked, inhaling to regain his posture.
“Sometimes revenge is the only option, Alpha.” I whispered heartlessly, taking a step forward to challenge me.
“Exactly. Sometimes it is.”
He smirked darkly, accepting whatever challenge I would place.
He had no intentions of becoming a saint- he was never one in the first place. And now, that had awakened the beast he put to sleep.
His monstrosity was revived by me.
Licking my lips seductively, I scanned his form, thrilled to witness what he must be planning to ruin me this time.
“I will look forward to seeing what you can do to avenge your Luna.”
Coming closer, I traced my finger on the side of his face, leaning to his ears. Hitching his breaths, he was hardly controlling himself to not kill me.
“In fact, you know what?”
Speaking temptingly before leaving him all alone in his agony with a provocation.
“I dare you to touch me, Darius.”
With this, I left but before I could leave I couldn’t help but to glance at the atrocity which flashed in his onyx eyes.
Labeling whatever is going to happen from on was going to destroy our lives more than they already were.
After separating our paths with King Hadrian and doing the exchange, giving him his mate. Where you can live happily.”Janine happily introduced to the enormous land, almost a community living in harmony. The proud work of Janine Becker. Blood Hunters.“You made it?” Athena asked in disbelief, glancing at her, not expecting she was capable of creating such a masterpiece.“Yes. The second I had to stain my hands with our parent’s blood, I swore to myself to create a world where such laws won’t exist. I have created this place for you guys, for us.” She nodded sorrowfully, curling her hands in a fist from powerlessness.“Janine.”Returning a sweet smile, Athena held her shoulder, giving it a stern squeeze. Sighing, she removed her hand and returned a beautiful toothy smile.“But, no more tears. This is yo
PAST.DARIUS ALFONSO.A tear rolled down my cheek, I was with Janine, curling my hands in a fist, gritting my teeth."Why did this happen to me?" I growled after finding Blue as my mate. She was on the ground with a graceful smirk over her lips, pushing her short hair behind."You are the first person I have seen who was depressed after meeting his mate." She teased me but I was not in the mood for it."What should I do? Why didn't you do anything?" I argued, holding my sides, pacing around with frustration. She scoffed, "I am not your babysitter. They are going to keep an eye on you. If they find out you are with a human- they will kill both of you.""I know. But, I don’t want to break Athena's heart. She is too fragile, Janine." I whispered desperately.I was afraid of her reaction, afraid to hurt her and I knew this bond would drown me in the end- which it did.Rising from the ground, she stared dead into my eyes."Do whatever you want but if my sister's heart breaks- so will your
I was in utter disbelief when I saw her, looking more elegant than before. Her hairs grow long but the dominance surrounding her never faded.“You… are alive?” I asked vaguely.Clinging onto Darius’s arms, blinking in confusion at her while she merely smirked at my reaction.“Yes. Alive and well.” Nodding her heels clicked against the floor, approaching us gradually while turning her glance to King Hadrian.“I don't understand… how..?” I asked, swallowing hard, turning to Darius and back to her.“I couldn’t understand, they told me you had died, I was accused of it then how..?” I asked, narrowing my eyes with bewilderment. But displeased with my reaction, King Hadrian turned to me, frowning at me.“Are you deaf, Athena? I just told you she helped me in assassination.” He mocked, reminding me.But I was too lost in Darius’s words and my realizations that I failed to grasp the depth of his words. Janine was alive all along.“She was there all along.” King Hadrian scoffed but I was too
A needle pierced through my soul when I heard it. I could feel my worlds coming to a crash when the truth hidden from me came to the surface. In a hidden corner, I prayed that he had a reason. And I kept hating him for five years.“No, this ill fortune land. How could it do this to me?” I whispered, covering my mouth. My steps stumbled but Darius held my shoulder, staring intensely at my teary eyes hoping to console me but nothing could help me.“As long as it was a juvenile love, they ignored us but after my mate… After finding Blue, I… remained loyal and committed to you.”How wrong I considered him?“Three months after meeting Blue, you were with me, you didn’t leave me. You… loved me all this time.” My lips began to shake, holding him with all my might, tears blurring my vision. He nodded, heartbroken, “Yes, I did and they came to know about it so I had to make a harsh choice and to save you, I chose Blue.”He explained and I continued from where he left off, completing the jus
“My revenge is completed today.” “W-What? All this… y-your revenge?” He couldn’t form a sentence properly anymore. His jaw dropped, losing his breaths to perceive what he heard but to no avail. The look of flabbergast on his face was extremely desirable. “T-This can’t be… We were mates.. Weren’t we?” “So what?” He shivered, having no words at this point while deep down he understood that it was all my plan but was not ready to accept it. “What? You thought I would be weak and pathetic again after seeing how weak ones are treated in this cursed land?” “What everything… a lie? A ruse?” He asked and I couldn’t answer. No. It wasn’t. “Weak dies. That is the rule and you are not the only person who is good with manipulation.” I told him seriously. Pointing my finger at him, pressing it over his heart, feeling how rapidly it was thumping. “Manipulation?” He was in complete shambles, not wanting to believe what he was hearing but I confirmed it. “Although you almost broke m
We were in the throne room, tears were glistening on my cheeks, clinging onto a female hunter who was hugging as I sobbed. “Monster.” I hissed at Darius, holding her while glaring at him. Darius was before everyone. He was on his knees, hands cuffed behind his back, looking down while everyone was staggered how he could do this. But he knew he fucked up because of being too emotional. “Continue.” King Hadrian came, frowning deeply at Darius, motioning to the person to start the court where his punishment shall be decided. “Name?” They asked Darius. His head was hanging low. Failing to look up, curling his hands in a fist as I kept glaring at him with my watery eyes. “Darius Alfonso.” His cold tone came out. “Status?” They asked him again strictly. “Alpha of the Scarlet Moon pack.” “Crime?” “Cold blood murder of Jax, head of the hunters.” I growled to find this look of emotionless on his face, having no regret of staining his hand in Jax’s blood. My Lord growled to he
