Chapter 143

Lora sat in her car outside the Bennett estate gates at three in the morning, watching the security cameras sweep back and forth across the empty driveway. Her hands trembled as she touched the cold metal hidden beneath her jacket - a kitchen knife she had taken from the Caldwell mansion. The weight of it pressed against her ribs like a promise.

"This is my house," she whispered to herself, staring at the sprawling mansion beyond the iron gates. "My birthright. My inheritance."

Three weeks of surveillance had taught her the security patterns. Guards changed shifts at midnight and six AM. The cameras had blind spots near the service entrance. And most importantly, she knew someone who could get her inside.

Maria Santos had worked as a housekeeper for the Bennett family for fifteen years before being laid off last month due to budget cuts. Lora had found her through social media, tracked her down to a small apartment in East Boston, and spent two days convincing her to help.

Lora needs lots of therapy. Between her entitled attitude throughout the book, the verbal abuse from the Caldwells that resulted in her miscarriage, her inferiority complex to Mona she is so screwed up.

  • RISE OF THE EX WIFE : Mona's Revenge   Chapter 145

Chapter 145Samuel sat at the kitchen table in the nearly empty Caldwell mansion, staring at the divorce papers spread before him like a death certificate for his marriage. The pen felt heavy in his hand as he read through the legal language that would end seven years of his life."Petition for Dissolution of Marriage: Samuel Richard Caldwell vs. Lora Bennett Caldwell."The words blurred as Samuel thought about the woman he had married - the beautiful, confident Bennett heiress who had chosen him over dozens of wealthy suitors. That woman seemed like a stranger now, replaced by someone he barely recognized.Emily entered the kitchen carrying another box of belongings. Dark circles shadowed her eyes, and her once-perfect hair hung limp and unwashed. "Are you really going through with this?"Samuel looked up at his mother. "She broke into someone's house with a knife, Mother. She threatened to kill a nineteen-year-old boy. What choice do I have?""She's your wife," Emily said, setting d

Chapter 144The fluorescent lights in the Suffolk County Jail booking room buzzed overhead as Lora sat handcuffed to a metal bench, her designer clothes torn and stained with tears. The knife she had carried into the Bennett mansion lay on the evidence table in a clear plastic bag, marked with numbers and labels that would seal her fate."Lora Bennett Caldwell," the booking officer read from his paperwork. "Charged with criminal trespassing, breaking and entering, attempted assault with a deadly weapon, and making terroristic threats."Each word hit Lora like a physical blow. She stared at the concrete floor, her mind still reeling from the events at the mansion. The security guards tackling her to the ground. James's terrified face. Her grandmother's cold, disappointed eyes."I need to call my husband," Lora whispered. The officer looked up from his forms. "You'll get your phone call after processing."Two hours later, Lora finally reached Samuel from a pay phone in the jail corridor

  • RISE OF THE EX WIFE : Mona's Revenge   Chapter 142

Chapter 142Samuel stood outside Kane Industries for twenty minutes, his hands shaking as he stared up at the gleaming glass tower that housed his cousin's empire. The morning rain had soaked through his cheap jacket - one of the few pieces of clothing he had left that wasn't being sold at auction. His once-expensive shoes had holes in the soles, and his hair hung limp and unwashed. The security guard in the marble lobby looked at Samuel with barely concealed disgust. Here was a man who clearly didn't belong in this temple of wealth and power."I need to see Alexander Kane," Samuel said, his voice hoarse from a sleepless night spent packing family memories into cardboard boxes."Do you have an appointment?" the guard asked, already knowing the answer."No, but I'm family. I'm Samuel Caldwell. Alexander is my cousin."The guard's expression shifted from disgust to curiosity. Everyone in Boston knew about the war between the Caldwells and the Kanes. "Wait here," he said, picking up a ph

Chapter 141The certified letter arrived at ten o'clock in the morning, delivered by a courier who waited patiently while Emily signed for it with trembling hands. The return address made her stomach clench with dread: "Kane Industries Legal Department."Emily carried the thick envelope into the mansion's library, where Samuel and Lora were sorting through family photographs for the upcoming auction. The morning light streaming through tall windows made the dust particles dance in the air like tiny ghosts of their former life."What is it, Mother?" Samuel asked, looking up from a box of childhood pictures.Emily's hands shook as she tore open the envelope. Inside were multiple legal documents, official notices, and a brief letter written on expensive Kane Industries letterhead."Dear Mrs. Caldwell," Emily read aloud, her voice growing weaker with each word. "This letter serves to inform you that Kane Industries has purchased all outstanding debts associated with your family, including

Chapter 140Lora sat in her car across the street from Bennett Tower, watching through rain-streaked windows as people in expensive suits walked in and out of the building that should have been hers. Her hands gripped the steering wheel so tightly her knuckles had turned white, and her breathing came in short, sharp bursts."That should be me," she whispered to herself, staring at the golden letters spelling "BENNETT CORPORATION" above the entrance. "I'm a Bennett. I was born to run that company."Three weeks had passed since the miscarriage. Three weeks since Richard's death. Three weeks since their world had collapsed completely. But instead of grieving or healing, Lora's pain had twisted into something darker, more dangerous. She pulled out her phone and scrolled through news articles about James Bennett, reading the same stories over and over until the words burned themselves into her mind."Nineteen-year-old business prodigy James Bennett signs billion-dollar deal with Global Tec
