Chapter 49: Hilda's surprise visit

After Alexander left the office, he went to meet up with Lawrence at their usual spot.

Lawrence was already sitting there by the time Alexander arrived.

"How did it go at the office together?" Lawrence asked Alexander the moment he sat down.

"As usual," Alex said, pouring himself a drink.

Lawrence nodded his head. "How about your relationship with Anita? How is it coming along?"

"Quite alright." Alex shrugged his shoulders, remembering the argument he and Anita had in his office earlier.

"So what happens after she gets pregnant? Will you get married to her? Or you still don't believe in love?"

Alex shrugged his shoulders again and looked away.

"Well, I don't know what I believe in anymore; it all depends on Anita, though. As for me, I just wish to have a complete family and be close to my kids. That's just all I wish for."

They drank quietly for a while, and then Lawrence brought up the topic of the missing funds.
