Chapter 4

作者: Flame3827
I had intended to use the incident to win Gavin over, but I didn’t expect my plan to go so well.

He went home afterward and told my parents everything.

That same evening, Dad called me into his study, transferred a villa under my name, and gave me five percent of the company’s shares.

“Not bad. You have brains, skill, and foresight.

“Henry told me you learn very quickly. We have a subsidiary, small in scale, but its sector is a major focus for future development. I’m handing it over to youas a learning opportunity.”

My eyes lit up.

After working hard for so long, I finally had shares and a company of my own.

I was one step closer to my goal.

Later when I was in my room, Gavin knocked on my door awkwardly and tossed a check onto my desk.

“Your thank-you fee.”

I chuckled: “Dad already gave me plenty. You can keep that.”

“This is from me. Just take it. Besides, you’ve suffered long enough. Stop acting like you don’t care.”

Seeing his awkward posture, I knew Gavin had fully accepted me.

Now, my only opponent left was Julian, who was also Dad’s intended heir to the family business.

Sure enough, after learning that I had received shares and taken over an important subsidiary, he dropped all pretense of being friendly.

At home, he was either making passive-aggressive remarks or trying to sow discord between me and my parents.

Unfortunately for him, with Gavin and Giselle speaking up for me, Mom and Dad’s favorable impression of me didn’t sour at all. Instead, they grew somewhat critical of Julian.

Seeing his plan of squeezing me out at home wasn’t working, he began making things difficult for me at the company.

It was either stalling my project approvals or snatching away my collaborations.

After I completed another major project, the subsidiary tripled in size, driving our stock up by several points and instantly making it an industry upstart. Julian could finally no longer sit still.

At the new product launch event, he stopped me to remark:

“I underestimated you. You play the long game.

“But I advise you to know your place. Too big an ambition, and you might end up with nothing in the end.

“If you step down now and hand over the company, you can live a life of leisure just like Gavin.”

I looked at him and smirked provocatively.

“But I just have to try. What if I actually pull it off?”

The bullet comments finally caught on:

“I think I know what MC is trying to do now! She doesn’t care about petty drama—girl’s going for the family business!”

“So that was what the disguise was for. It’s working out really well for her.”

Seeing that I had no intention of backing down, Julian’s expression turned dark.

“Don’t blame me for being ruthless then, brother. You forced my hand.”

My heart thudded.

Was he going to pull a dirty trick?

Throughout the entire launch event, I was exceptionally cautious.

I reviewed the presentation materials several times and double-checked every step of the event schedule.

Right up until the event was nearly over, no issues arose.

I glanced toward Julian. He was lowering his head and talking to someone, betraying no evil scheme in waiting.

Just at that moment, a woman covered in blood suddenly burst into the venue.

She charged toward the stage and slapped me across the face with a loud smack.

“Scumbag! Now that you’re a Morgan, you think I’m not good enough for you, huh?

“We already broke up. Why force me to get an abortion? The baby was already eight months old! You’re a monster!”

The audience below erupted into an uproar.

“I just want justice for my baby! Why should he not be born, just because his mother is poor?”

The media turned their lenses and microphones squarely on me and the upper management, questioning my morality one after another.

The event’s livestream chat was flooded with abuse.

Cornered by the press, Dad stumbled back, his face livid. He delivered a heavy slap across my face.

“You wretched thing! Look what you’ve done! You’re a disgrace to the Morgan name!”

He then turned to the press: “Effective immediately, Rory Morgan is stripped of all positions in Morgan Group! We will not tolerate such immoral behavior!

“All matters regarding the subsidiary will be handed over to my eldest son, Julian Morgan.”

A victorious smile spread across Julian’s face.

“I disagree.”

I walked to the front of the stage.

Catching my movement, the faces of Julian and the woman simultaneously turned pale.

  • Real Heiress? Fake Heir?   Chapter 10

Because of his previous attempt to slander me, Julian now faced severe skepticism from upper management and investors. He was stripped of his CEO position.Unable to bear the whispers and finger-pointing from his colleagues, he resigned on his own initiative.Mom and Dad felt bad for him, so they gave him a company with few ties to the main corporation to run.He also moved out of the house and into a villa under his own name. The night before he moved, Julian came to see me.He didn’t say a word, just sipped wine from his glass.I ignored him as I wrapped up my studying for the day. After finishing reading the latest industry news and reports, I finally turned to look at him.He stared at me and finally smiled.“Rory, losing to you... it wasn’t an unfair defeat.”He stood up, swaying as he prepared to leave. When he reached the doorway, he paused.“Why did you choose to return as a boy in the first place? How could you be so sure that if you came back as a girl, Mom and Dad wouldn’t l

Life turned even busier than before.Leaving early and returning late every single day, I still studied with my private tutors during evenings and weekends on top of my heavy workload. The difficulty of my studies had increased by several levels.I had even gone through multiple batches of private tutors.Apart from a slight change in my attire, everything else stayed the same. The first person to come find me was Giselle. She carefully slid the bracelet off her wrist. “Rory, this is yours by right. Grandma left it for you.”I let out a sigh. When it came out that I was a girl after all, her previous panic returned. After all, she still felt that she had taken my place.I grabbed her wrist and slipped the bracelet back on.“Silly, I wasn’t insincere when I said you could have it.“I won’t vent my anger on you because of what your biological parents did. Wear it. We’re sisters now, and you are still one of us.”Her eyes turned red.“Oh, and the engagement remains yours. Like I said befo

As Julian was taken away, his eyes were filled with nothing but resentment.Looking at me, his face was contorted with venomous hatred and despair: “You’re a woman! What are you fighting me for? Isn’t it enough that you’re fed and clothed? Isn’t it better to just behave yourself and wait to get married?”I shook my head.“No, it’s not.”I turned toward the cameras live-streaming.Then I looked toward Dad, and the row of executives from the company.“When I was found and brought back, someone told me that my family favored my adopted sister. They said I had to fight her for our parents’ affection, for our brothers’ love, and for an arranged marriage.“But why? We’re all Morgans, are we not? Why should I be the one fighting for whatever scrap of love they happen to drop? Why should I have to walk the path they laid out for me?“I want to be like my brothers, carving out my own path with my own two hands.“To avoid being slapped with labels, and being defined by others, I disguised myself

“What? Rory Morgan is a woman?”“No way, he’s making this up to escape blame? The jerk really stops at nothing.”“Though to be fair, looking at that posture, he really does look like a young lady.”Julian’s eyes were filled with disbelief. The woman was left with nothing but panic. Her voice trembled as she accused me: “What nonsense is this! You may have a small build, but that doesn’t make you a woman! We dated for three years—as if I could be fooled!”Dad’s face shifted from shock to immense, wild joy.He walked around me, looking me up and down: “Rory, tell Dad the truth, are you a boy or a girl?”I looked at him: “We can have a female colleague verify it for me.”Soon, a female executive from the company took me backstage.A quarter of an hour later, we walked out.The executive’s face was beaming with joy: “I can confirm that she is indeed a woman.“Therefore, what was told just now was entirely slander. Rory didn’t hurt anyone, and there are absolutely no issues with her capabil

The commenters were panicking:“This is going to ruin MC! Hurry up and reveal your real identity!”“This must be Julian’s doing. What the guy lacks in capability, he more than makes up for in depravity!”I wasn’t in a hurry.Let the enemy gloat for a little longer.I wanted to shatter his victory dream at the very moment he was most triumphant.Seeing Dad give up on me, a few senior executives who had an eye for talent could only shake their heads one after another. On the surface, Julian looked mournful, but his eyes were filled with excitement he could barely conceal. The woman kept wiping her tears in front of the media and the livestream cameras.“I’m sorry for the scene. But I have to seek justice for my child.“Thank you, everyone, for upholding justice for me and my baby.”Seeing that Dad had finally made his decision, her eyes turned red as she looked at me.“Rory, are you going to apologize now?”I shook my head. She teetered as if about to collapse.“It was my own delusion. I stood nonchalantly at the front of the stage.“You can’t ruin my career just because of a woman.”Seeing that I didn’t show the slightest hint of fear, Julian jumped out to accuse me further.“Rory, you have no say in this.“You had a messy private life, abandoned your poor girlfriend, and ruthlessly forced her to have an abortion! How could someone with such morality be qualified to head our company?”I looked at him: “Julian, I’m your brother. Why would you not trust me, but a complete stranger?”Julian spoke with righteous indignation: “I stand for justice, not personal bias! You may be my brother, but I won’t let you continue down the wrong path just because of that!”He looked toward the woman, took off his coat, and draped it over her shoulders.“Ma’am, I am Rory’s older brother.“I’m so sorry about what Rory did to you. But rest assured, as a representative of the Morgan family, I will give you an explanation and make amends for the harm done to you.”The crowd below the stage
