Chapter Two

~Daniella’s POV

“I never loved you Daniella!” He spat right into my face. “I only needed your blood to strengthen my wolf powers—” he spat mercilessly.

Wolf powers?

What was going on here?

He reached for the door and slammed it behind me, not even taking another glance at me and I laid there, the flame eating me from the inside out.

This was probably one of the worst ways to die but one thing was certain, if I ever got a chance at life again, if there was anything like a next life, I'd make sure I found Ryan and I'd show him things worse than death.

So this was how I'd end, with my unborn child? Dear Lord, forgive my soul…

My soul faded away to the nothingness and I felt the chilling hands of death grab me,. whispering; “Let's go…”

I screamed out loud for the last time before giving up the ghost.

***********************

Perhaps the heavens had pity on me because when I woke up, I was no longer in the cottage and I was alive. I touched myself and pinched my skin to be sure I wasn't dreaming. But it wasn't a dream. I was truly alive.

Smoke. The same scent that long to the bed sheets the night I died, only this time when I opened my eyes the smoke wasn't from fire but from the Alpha's cigar and the reflection in the mirror wasn't mine. Pale skin and golden eyes, a frail Omega trembling under the dim light of the room stared back at me.

“Lyra?” A voice snarled. “You still exist?”

His hatred sliced through my soul and I winced and touched my stomach. I had died carrying a child once, I won't die again.

“Lyra?” His deep voice cut through the smoky haze again, this time rougher, angrier.

I turned toward it slowly, my heart racing in a body that didn’t feel like mine.

The man standing before me was tall. His silver hair gleamed under the moonlight spilling through the half-open window, and his eyes glowed gold like a predator’s. He had the same golden eyes Ryan had right before he killed me.

But the hatred dripping from his tone was personal and intended.

He took a step closer, jaw tight. “You think you can defy me again, Omega?”

I blinked, trying to piece it together. Omega?

I wanted to laugh. Me? An Omega? I was human. At least… I used to be.

The memories hit me in flashes as I winced and held my head in my hands ; Ryan’s sneer, the smell of petrol, the screaming, the heat, then darkness. I was supposed to be dead. But here I was, breathing again, in a stranger’s fragile body.

“What… what are you talking about?” I managed to say, my voice raspier and thinner than I remembered.

He grabbed my chin roughly and tilted my face up, forcing me to look at him. His grip was firm, dominant. “Don’t pretend to be innocent, Lyra. You embarrassed me in front of the entire pack last night, remember?”

My mind scrambled for answers. Lyra… embarrassed the Alpha? Perfect. Reborn into a hated Omega. And by the look in his eyes, I wasn’t just hated, I was despised.

I swallowed hard and hardened my jaw. “I..I don’t remember.”

His gaze flickered, confusion flashing for just a second before disgust hardened his expression again. “Convenient,” he muttered and released me. “You’ll come to the pack hall when you’re done pretending. You still bear my mark, unfortunately.”

He stormed out, slamming the door so hard the walls shook.

I froze, staring at the wooden floor, my chest rising and falling too fast.

His mark?

I stumbled to the mirror again, and there it was on the side of my neck, a faint crescent-shaped mark glowing gold beneath the skin. My pulse raced as realization struck.

I was his mate.

The Alpha’s mate.

And by the looks of it, the hated one.

A shaky laugh escaped me, half shock, half disbelief.

“Really, universe? You burned me alive, killed my child, and now you throw me into the body of a weak Omega mated to another monster?”

The room was small, barely a bed and a cracked mirror. The scent of old blood lingered, faint but undeniable. This Lyra had been through hell long before I woke up here.

I pressed a trembling hand against my belly. Still flat… but warm. A faint pulse, a flicker of energy. My eyes widened. No way.

I could feel it.

A heartbeat. Not mine.

My knees gave way, and I fell to the floor, clutching my stomach.

It wasn’t possible, but it was. My child. My baby had come with me, or so I thought

I wasn’t sure if it was divine mercy or cosmic cruelty, but one thing was clear: I had been given a second chance. And I wasn’t wasting it.

No man, Alpha or not, would ever burn me alive again.

I rose slowly, walking toward the cracked window. Outside, I saw wolves running under the moonlight, their howls echoing through the night air. The pack’s territory stretched endlessly, surrounded by forests that looked both wild and beautiful.

Somewhere out there, power ruled everything.

And I needed it.

If this body was an Omega’s, weak, small, fragile, then I’d make it stronger.

If the Alpha hated me, I’d make him regret it.

If fate had bound me to him again… I’d rewrite that fate.

I wasn’t Daniella the weak human anymore.

I was Lyra, the Omega who would rise.

A knock came on the door, a soft, timid one this time.

“Lyra?” A gentle female voice called. “You… you shouldn’t make Alpha Kieran angry again. Please come eat before he calls you.”

Alpha Kieran. So that was his name. The man who looked at me like I was dirt under his boots.

I straightened up, forcing a smile. “I’ll be right there.”

When the girl left, I turned back to the mirror. My reflection was foreign, but the determination in my eyes wasn’t. That was still me. Daniella. The woman who’d burned to death, betrayed by the man she loved.

Now, reborn into a world of wolves, power, and blood.

A world where the Alpha I was mated to despised me…

But where I carried a secret; the child of another man, my child from a past life.

And if destiny thought I’d bow my head again, it was dead wrong.

Because this time, I’d fight back.

Chapter Twenty-Seven The bathwater was warm, almost scalding, but I didn’t care. I sank into the tub, letting the tension of the day dissolve into the steam that curled around me. My muscles ached from training, from the energy I had pushed through, but the fatigue was strangely comforting.I closed my eyes, letting the water press against my skin, letting my mind wander. My glowing marks from earlier training still pulsed faintly under my skin, a reminder of the lunar energy rising within me.And then… it happened.A surge, sharp and unexpected, ran through my body. My breath caught as the water rippled violently around me, responding to the energy coursing through my veins. My hand moved to my stomach instinctively, feeling a strange warmth, a resonance that wasn’t just physical.A small, glowing mark appeared along my forearm, swirling like liquid silver. It was delicate at first, then brighter, pulsing with a rhythm that matched my heartbeat. I gasped, excitement flooding through

Chapter Twenty-SixThe chamber I had claimed as my secret training ground was cold, damp, and abandoned—perfect. No one came here anymore. The air smelled faintly of earth and old stone, mixed with the lingering scent of burned torches. It was secluded enough that I could practice without fear of prying eyes… or unwanted interruptions.I stripped my hands bare, rolling my shoulders, feeling the tight muscles of my arms stretch. The memory of Lyra’s body—the strength it carried, the agility, the raw wolf instincts—lingered beneath my skin. Even though I couldn’t shift fully yet, even though my wolf remained partially dormant, I could feel it, like an ember refusing to die.“Focus,” I whispered to myself, voice low and steady. “Feel it… let it guide you.”I closed my eyes, drawing in a deep breath, letting my senses extend beyond the walls. The faintest flicker of moonlight through the cracks above brushed against my face. And then it happened—the first spark.A faint glow rose from my

Chapter Twenty-FiveThe corridors were dim, the torches flickering as if uncertain whether to burn or extinguish. Every shadow stretched long and strange across the stone walls, and my heart thudded unevenly. The events with Karen, Serena, and Damon still clung to my skin like a layer of heat, and my mind refused to quiet.I had barely made it back to my chamber when a gentle knock echoed against the door.“Lyra,” a soft, melodic voice called. “May I come in?”I hesitated, hand instinctively going to my stomach. The voice was unfamiliar, yet comforting in a way I didn’t fully understand. “Who is it?” I asked cautiously.“It’s Elder Mira,” the voice replied. “I was told you are awake and well enough to see visitors. May I?”I swallowed hard. Mira. The name carried weight, though I couldn’t place it. Something in my instincts screamed I should not refuse her. I stepped aside, gesturing for her to enter. She glided into the chamber, her presence immediately filling the room. Mira was old

Chapter Twenty-Four The hallway was silent as I made my way toward Karen’s chambers. Every step felt heavier than the last, every shadow a reminder of the danger that clung to this place. My stomach twisted in anxiety, my hand brushing unconsciously over the small swell that betrayed the life inside me.I had been summoned. Karen had demanded to see me. And I knew, deep in my bones, that whatever awaited me would not be pleasant.I paused outside the heavy wooden doors, straightening my shoulders. “Steady,” I whispered to myself. “You can do this.”The doors opened before I could knock. Karen sat behind her ornate desk, expression unreadable. Across from her, standing with that infuriatingly smug look, was Serena.“Lyra,” Karen said smoothly, voice calm but with an edge. “Come in. Sit.”I stepped inside cautiously, trying to mask the tension that churned inside me. Serena’s eyes locked onto mine, sharp, predatory. She smiled—a thin, cruel line that made my blood boil.“Hello, darling

Chapter Twenty-Three ~Ronan POVI woke to darkness, my body aching from the beating. Every muscle protested, but it wasn’t the pain that gnawed at me—it was the presence I could feel before I even opened my eyes. Her scent.Warm, sharp, intoxicating. Familiar in a way that should have been impossible. My wolf stirred violently, growling in confusion and delight. Mine. That was the only thought pounding in my mind. She is mine.I didn’t know her, at least not fully, but the bond—it screamed at me. Her heartbeat, her scent, her very life resonated through me like a thunderclap. I could feel her confusion, the hesitation, the strength buried under fear.I tried to move, groaning softly, and the sound carried. A soft shuffle of footsteps drew my attention.“Ronan?”The voice was quiet, cautious, tinged with something I couldn’t name. My head snapped toward it.Daniella.She froze mid-step when she saw me, eyes widening, and then narrowed, suspicious. “Don’t… don’t move,” she whispered, v

Chapter Twenty-Two – Blood Debt and ShadowsThe chamber was quiet, almost peaceful, until a soft knock echoed against the door.“Ma’am… something’s happening outside,” whispered the trusted maid, her voice trembling as she stepped in. Her eyes were wide, filled with worry. “A commotion… the Alpha… he’s about to execute someone.”My chest tightened instantly, a sharp stab of fear and instinct. “Who?” I demanded, rising so quickly that my stomach churned with unease and the growing life inside me pressed insistently against my spine.“Ronan… the rogue leader,” she whispered, lowering her voice, eyes darting nervously toward the corridor. “They dragged him into the courtyard… the pack is watching… it doesn’t look good.”My heart lurched. Ronan. That name carried danger, but something else—a strange pull, unexplainable and immediate. I swallowed hard, pressing a trembling hand against my chest. A sudden warmth surged from my core as an unfamiliar sensation gripped me.Wolf… instinct, stro
