Chapter 13: Raine's assumption

Raine's POV

I can tell by his expression that she will go to any lengths to talk to Kai and convince him to return to Harper Entertainment. Kai playfully teases me, asking if I'm afraid of her.

I roll my eyes and take the hairdryer from his hand, starting to dry my hair. As I do, I can't help but remember what he did.

He embraces me strangely, and I sense his anxiety. It's as if he's worried about something but doesn't want me to know.

I believe he was concerned that Emma would continue sending men to harm me. I understand where he's coming from because Kai knows what kind of woman she is.

Emma will stop at nothing to win him back. I still don't understand why Kai took his own life. The rumor alone doesn't seem like enough reason for such a drastic action.

I think it's necessary for me to investigate his background, especially the secrets he may have kept. I have a feeling that he may have been murdered, and the incident made to look like suicide.
