Mira's POV

Roman's family was mad at me. They said what I did was a humiliation to the Ashford family and they would not let it go easily.

Only Roman's grandfather, Alpha Raxon, was on my side. He stopped Roman's parents to punish me.

"I will talk to you later. Now you can leave," he told me, permitting me to leave the hall without getting any harm.

"Dad, are you giving her an opportunity to escape? Why? She ruined my son's life!" Roman's mother, Carol grumbled.

Alpha Raxon frowned at her, showing disapproval. "I am sure Roman did something to make her make this decision."

I smiled at Alpha Raxon. I was really grateful to him. In my past life, if someone was on my side, it was only Alpha Raxon.

He knew me well; he had seen my love for his grandson. He never taunted me for being an omega or an orphan.

I bowed to Alpha Raxon. After taking a long breath, I replied, "Grandpa, I made the decision to save my life."

He didn't say anything, as disappointment was visible in his eyes to me. I let him down today.

I turned away and left the hall in the wedding gown.

As soon as I stepped outside, the night breeze brushed my body. I looked at the sky, gazing at the full moon.

"I didn't marry that heartless man. I changed my future. I will not have to die like that again."

I went to my orphanage, not to stay there but to pack up my things.

When I reached there, the guards were at the gate to stop me. "You can't enter."

I gave them a frowning look. "My things are inside."

"The director said you are not allowed," one of them replied.

"Let me just take my things from my room. I will never come back again."

They didn't let me go inside. I was tired of arguments. But I needed my things.

In my past life, I never came back here to take my things. But I would not do the same this time.

In my room, I had a pendant with a unique design. That was my parents' trace. When I was old enough to understand, a teacher at the orphanage told me that someone had left me at the gate with that locket.

"Please let me—"

Before I could request them again, my best friend, Yira, came out. She was holding luggage in her hand.

I rushed to her. "Yira!"

She hugged me. "I am sorry for whatever you are facing right now. They tried to throw your things away. I packed them all and brought them to you."

I hugged her back tightly. "Thank you so much."

After breaking a hug, I grabbed the handle of the luggage and sat on my knees to unzip the chain. I pulled out an old box and checked if the locket was still there.

My breath hitched when I saw the locket. In my past life, I never cared about it.

My heart shook when I held the locket in my palm. It had a very thin chain, and the locket was shaped like broken snowflakes.

"Snowflakes..." I mumbled.

Yira bent down and put her hand on my shoulder. "Why did you do that, Mira? You love Alpha Roman. You cried whenever he ignored you; you prayed to the moon goddess to marry him. You were so happy when you learned that you two were mates. Then why humiliate him tonight and break the wedding?"

My gaze was low. I stared at the locket. Tears blurred my vision. A single tear dropped on my palm.

I loved that man so much that I never cared about all the humiliations he did to me. I took care of him and his parents. I never complained to him about how his parents behaved in his absence; I never showed any anger when his friends mocked me in front of him.

He was always cold to me, reminding me that I was never his choice but he was forced to marry me by fate.

"Mira"

I quickly wiped my cheek. Inhaling deeply, I looked up at her and smiled. “If I told you that I already knew how my future with him would end, would you believe me?”

She was confused. The guards sneered at me. "Just leave before the director punishes you."

I got to my feet and held the luggage handle tightly. "I am leaving."

"Where are you going?" Yira asked me with an upset face. "You don't have a place to go."

"I will manage to rent a house. It's just our love that we never left this place. Otherwise, with the job of librarian, I saved some money. I will use them."

Yira pulled me into her embrace again. I felt tears on my shoulder. She was crying. I patted her back. She mumbled,

"Mira, I trust you. I know if you decided to let go of your love, you must have a reason behind it."

After looking at the orphanage for the last time, I recalled the memories of living there. This place gave me a very tough life. Still, they brought me up. If I were to get a chance, I would repay them.

I took my leave from Yira and left the orphanage.

Walking down an empty street on the night of a full moon, it was really dangerous.

But my head was full of flashbacks of my past life. My mind couldn't let go of Roman's sharp gaze that he gave me before leaving the warehouse. Since I didn't marry him, I was saved in this life.

My legs were hurting; my mind was in a mess. I had no place to stay. The hotels were far away from this area.

"We found a morina!"

I heard someone speaking behind me. They might be rogues from the western territory. "Morina" meant a young girl in their language.

I turned my head and saw two men. They were giving me dirty looks. They gestured at me with their tongues licking their lips.

In the full moon, they looked hungrier to claim she-wolves.

I looked away and started running. "Don't tell me I have to run to save my life again!"

I was scared that they would catch me like those kidnappers did in my previous life.

As I was trying to cross the road in a hurry, my heels twisted and I fell in the middle of the road.

At that time, a car was speeding in my direction. My eyes widened when it rushed toward me.

However, before it could hit me, the car stopped just an inch away from me.

The headlights were so deep that I couldn't see the face of the man in the driver's seat.

I lifted my hand. With the back of my hand, I tried to avoid the lights from my eyes.

A man rushed out of the car and approached me.

"Are you okay?" he asked, his figure blocking the lights.

I slowly moved my hand away from my eyes and looked up at him.

I froze when I saw his face.

He was the man who tried to save me in my past life! Roman's rival, Jackson Morrigan.

He lowered his gaze, raising his brows to see me in a bridal dress.

His eyes fell on my feet. "You got hurt!" He spoke with a stunned tone.

Then without another word, he leaned down and lifted me in his arms.

"Let me take you to the hospital first."

A blaze of fire ran in my veins as I stepped toward her."Roman!"My mother’s voice cut through the noise from behind me, a desperate attempt to stop me from losing control.I grabbed Mira's arm tightly, almost sinking my nails in her skin. She was enjoying my frustration, feeding off my fury. She was a fool if she thought a low-ranking Omega could actually reject an Alpha. The laws of the pack didn't work that way; only high ranks had that kind of power."What happened, Alpha Roman? Are you not happy? I am doing this only for you," Mira replied, t
