Chapter 1 Death Renders Love Pure

Author: Precious Words
Today was supposed to be my wedding day, yet it became my funeral.

I thought my soul would be consumed by eternal darkness, only to discover that the Moon Goddess's blessing had given me a second chance.

..

Evelyn's POV

A warm force was soothing my body, which was raw and aching from the wolfsbane burning in my veins.

Was it the Moon Goddess coming to receive her pitiful believer?

Or had Wyatt Smith, who had just left, come back?

Not long before, Wyatt and Judy Nash had shown up at my place to announce that they were going to mark each other as mates.

I'd asked Wyatt for help, hoping he'd give me some money for treatment.

Judy interrupted my pleas, saying harshly, "Again with the money? Wyatt's given you plenty. Do you expect him to keep supporting you forever?"

With a pained expression, I looked at Wyatt, who stood to one side. "The money you gave me doesn't even add up to what I used to give you for your living expenses. You were just a driver's son—if it weren't for me supporting you, you'd never have become Alpha of the Silvermoon pack!"

Furious, Wyatt clutched me by the throat and shot back, "You supported me? Have you forgotten, Evelyn? After your father's death, it was I who helped you keep the pack members under control. If it'd been left in your hands, the pack would've been swallowed up by other packs by now!"

Then, he flung me down before remarking, "If you hadn't suddenly gotten infected with wolfsbane, I would've marked you. Alas, you were the one who went in and out of those filthy places and got infected with the highly contagious wolfsbane. Who would dare to mark a she-wolf like you?"

I wanted to tell him that I hadn't done anything like that, that it wasn't like that. But the wolfsbane was tormenting my body, and all I could do was weakly shake my head.

When I tried my best to get up and stop Wyatt from leaving, Judy blocked me. She toyed with her red nails as she eyed me, smug and triumphant.

"Do you know why you and your father suddenly got infected with the rare and highly contagious wolfsbane?" she asked.

I stared at her in agitation.

Chuckling, Judy explained, "It's because Wyatt didn't want to mark you, so he specifically got someone to gather the toxins before adding them to food and feeding them to you and your father.

"That way, with the pity and support of everyone in the pack, he can refuse to mark a filthy bitch like you. Hahaha!"

"No… That can't be…"

The anguish and emotional turmoil drained the last of my strength. I blacked out.

And now, I felt the warmth as I regained consciousness.

I forced my eyes open and, after seeing Bennett Morris treating me, a tide of remorse washed over me. He had once been my fated mate, but I'd refused him because I'd been attracted to Wyatt. When I saw him now, I realized how foolish I'd been.

Why had he come? Was he here as my previously arranged mate, to see how pathetic I'd become? Or had he come as the Alpha King to drive a filthy Omega like me out of the pack?

I didn't know how to react to Bennett's dominant, powerful presence. Flustered, I tried to hide my battered and ruined body in the tuft of dry grass behind me.

However, at the very next second, I was yanked into a warm embrace. Was Bennett… holding me?

Why did he do that?

Bennett seemed to be trembling slightly, as if holding in his emotions.

"I'm sorry," he said shakily.

He clumsily used his power to treat my body, which was already rotting away. His tone was as imperious as ever as he said, "You need to get treated, Evelyn."

Bennett proceeded to slice open his wrist and let his blood drip into my mouth.

His warm blood, charged with Lycan power, flowed into my body, but at the very next moment, it vanished as though it'd leaked right back out of me.

"Ben… Ben…" I used the last of my strength to call out to him. "It's no use. The wolfsbane has already seeped into my bones. I'm beyond treatment. My father, the previous Alpha, died because of a wolfsbane infection, too."

When I recalled Father's solemn, tragic death, I took a deep breath and tried to push Bennett away, but to no avail.

Bennett didn't speak. He simply cut his arm again, determined to use his blood to save me. He'd always been like that. The love of one in power was silent but unwavering.

Father had once told me, "Eve, don't judge wolves by appearances. Watch what they do."

Only now did I understand what he meant.

I choked back the sorrow and pushed Bennett away with all my remaining strength before mocking him cruelly, "Don't act like a hero now. If you loved me so much, why didn't you come to steal me away back then?"

On the inside, I was apologizing to them. I wasn't trying to hurt him on purpose. I just didn't want to watch all who loved me end up leaving.

I could feel the way Bennett stiffened, but moments later, to my shock, he kissed me fiercely and domineeringly. I tasted blood in his mouth.

He was kissing me in a stubborn, steadfast attempt to feed me his powerful blood.

No. I couldn't let him do that. He'd get infected!

Panicked, I tried to shove him away, but his strong arms kept me pressed against him. I couldn't get away.

In desperation, I pressed my lips firmly against his. When he froze, I used the opportunity to free myself from him. Then, while he was dazed, I summoned my wolf to take my own life.

My wolf was intrinsically connected to me. She didn't want to see me suffer in agony either.

My tears soaked into the dry grass. The moonbeam fell, allowing me to see the heavy grief in Bennett's eyes. My wolf howled in sorrow.

I prayed to the Moon Goddess. If I were to live again, I vowed never to fall for the wrong person—my driver's son—and be forced to watch as everyone who loved me disappeared one by one.

I was awakened by the commotion around me.

When I opened my eyes, I found myself in school.

The Moon Goddess had taken pity on me and blessed me with a second chance at life. She'd allowed me to return to my schooling days.

"Hey! Why are you daydreaming?" Wyatt snapped as he kicked my table unceremoniously. "You spend all your time with your head in the clouds. Judy's exhausted because of the cheerleading squad's performance, pig. Hurry up and get some food for her. I don't want to have to repeat myself!"

Wyatt's POV"Why aren't you leaving yet? Are you so keen on becoming my father's daughter-in-law?" I snarled at Evelyn, who was still standing beside us. "You should look at yourself and see if you're even good enough or not first. Now get lost!""You're delusional," Evelyn shot back derisively, her brows creased. "Why would I be interested in you?"She bumped hard into me with her shoulder as she marched off toward her car and left.I'd grabbed Father by the hand, keeping him with me, so he could only yell after her in discontent, "Don't worry, Evelyn! When I get home, I'll teach this brat a good lesson!"Then, he turned to me, his eyes blazing with fury. "What the hell are you doing? I finally managed to see her, but you pissed her off and made her leave! Can't you do something right for once?"I eyed him in exasperation as I pleaded, "Can you not show up at my school?""I'll come if I damn well please!" Father roared back at me. "What about the money? Instead of spending yo

Evelyn's POVWyatt had texted me earlier with a short apology, and now, he'd shown up at my house in person. It seemed the little performance I put on this afternoon had a pretty notable effect on him.Wyatt looked at me, his voice tinged with jealousy as he asked, "Does being with Alpha Bennett make you that happy?""It does! He treats me well, unlike you," I replied with a nod before voicing my curiosity. "Why are you, someone with a girlfriend, here at my house?""If I broke up with Judy, would you still like me? Just like the way you used to…" Wyatt asked quietly. His head was bowed, so I couldn't see his expression.Despite knowing full well this was just an act of his, I was still quite delighted to see him in this state. Tamping down the delight I felt, I answered curtly, "Nope."Wyatt's lips twisted in a bitter smile. "So you really… don't plan on ever being with me again.""What's wrong? Did you run out of money again?" I eyed him in scrutiny."You'd only ever show up

Wyatt's POVI had just gotten home when I heard a cold voice bark at me, "What's going on with you and Evelyn lately?"It was Father, who was sitting in my room."Nothing," I said.On the way back, I couldn't stop thinking about my situation with Evelyn. Now that I saw him, my mood soured even further."Nothing? Didn't I tell you to go make up with her? Haven't you been able to appease her yet?" Father snapped, his tone demanding—as though I owed him money.Irritated, I retorted, "Why should I appease her? She fired me! Am I supposed to beg her? Don't I have any self-respect?"Yes, I did feel some regret after seeing that she was now with Bennett. Marcus kept screaming in my head, "She belongs to us! You must snatch her back!"But now that I saw the way Father was behaving, I was glad that Evelyn and I had gone our separate ways.I had barely finished speaking when Father stormed up to me and slapped me hard across the face."You little brat! Where the hell are we going to ge

Evelyn's POVI reached out to pry Wyatt's hand off my wrist, but he clutched it even more tightly.Smiling bitterly, I asked, "I thought you hated having me cling to you the most? You said that the way I kept latching onto you felt like a nightmare to you."This was what he said to me just before I had died. I wouldn't have known about it if he hadn't told me. It was then that I found out how much my feelings for him repulsed him.Wyatt was startled. "I never said that!"I knew that the current Wyatt hadn't said it, of course, but it didn't mean he didn't feel that way."You've hated me all along, haven't you?" I said sorrowfully as I squeezed a few tears out of my eyes. "If you didn't hate me, then why would you have spent all your time with Judy, giving her all the gifts I gave you? Why would you treat her so well and treat me like a maid?"I no longer liked Wyatt. After everything I'd been through, the only feeling I had left for him was loathing. I'd died once because of h

  • Reborn for My True Alpha   Chapter 35 Wyatt Runs After Her

Lewis' POVIn my head, I asked my wolf, "I didn't mishear that, right? What did Alpha Bennett just say?"I had to wonder if there was something wrong with my hearing.Everyone had been saying that Evelyn was some old werewolf's sugar baby, but Bennett just said he was pursuing her.He even used the word "pursue"! Why would he need to pursue someone?Wasn't it more likely that as long as he nodded in agreement, any she-wolf would jump at the chance to be with him?Refusing to accept this outcome, I stared at Bennett, trying to catch some hint that he was lying. He eyed me sharply, asking, "What is it? Do you have a problem with that?""Not at all!"I wouldn't dare to have any problems with that. I just couldn't believe that Bennett had fallen for Evelyn.Did this mean that I'd been flirting all day with the she-wolf Bennett was interested in?I'd even said those things in front of him! How I wished I could kill myself right now.As I recalled this, I hurriedly apologized, "I

Wyatt's POVThe match was about to start. My teammates and I were warming up, but I couldn't keep my eyes on the court. They kept drifting toward the bleachers.Evelyn was standing there in her white platform sandals, rallying the she-wolves around her just like she used to cheer for me—only this time, she was doing it for Bennett.Just then, I heard Anna's voice loud and clear. "Is she trying to win them over?""She's probably desperate to make her presence known with Alpha Bennett here," Judy said softly. "She used to act the same way when she chased Wyatt, didn't she?""You mean she's after Alpha Bennett now? Is she crazy?" Anna's eyes widened in disbelief as she glanced over at Evelyn. "Does she think Alpha Bennett would willingly be her plaything? Who'd want a she-wolf like her who's gone to bed with some old werewolf?""Wyatt, the match is starting!"At the urging of my teammates, I refocused my attention and got ready for the match. As soon as it started, Lewis and I r
