“ I wasn't in my right mind too! And I lost control.”

“I can keep my lips sealed but Serena, you know I love you and I've loved you ever since. I even almost got married to Kara to be closer to you. Give me a chance, please.” 

“ I should give who? You? A chance? To do what? Drag me down? What can you offer me? You don't even have anything to your name and you want to marry me?”  

She scoffed eyeing him “You can't give me the life I deserve so don't ever say that to anyone else's hearing ever again. Things are already complicated enough as it is.”

“I'll work twice as hard so you don't have to suffer, I'll give my best I promise.” 

She scoffed as he professed.

“ As for what happened here, we both know it was a drunken mistake. Never speak of it.

I'll send you some money and let's call it even.”  She walked to the bathroom to clean herself up.

“Send me some money? What am I? A male prostitute?” He scoffed.

She paid him no mind, got dressed and left the hotel.

Rays of the morning sun came pouring in through my window and resting on my face making me squint as I opened my eyes. I sat on the bed, taking in the beauty of the room and the view of the well tended garden I could see from my window.

Pierce had given me the room that gets ample amount of sunlight.

 The house wasn't a big mansion like I'd imagined, it was a medium sized one-storey with an amazing viee and a garden with live-in staffs, the staffs quarters was downstairs. 

The chef, cleaner, a helper and security person stayed downstairs taking care of the house whenever Pierce was away as he didn't come here often.

I stood up and went to the bathroom to freshen up, I'm going to see my grandfather today.

It wasn't long before I was done and heading downstairs. The table was already set and Pierce was already seated, j walked closer to him.

“Good morning, I hope the room wasn't too uncomfortable for you?” He greeted.

“No, it was rather comfortable. It's a beautiful room with an equally beautiful view.” 

“Well what can I say? I'm a man of great taste.” 

“Tch. As if.” I teased “ I'm going to see my grandfather, just said to come give you a heads-up.

“Okay but before that…” he stood up and took my phone from my hand and put his number then dialed it, his phone rang almost immediately. 

“That's my number. We don't want you calling the front desk before you can speak to me. Call me if you need me or if you need anything.” he said, handing me back my phone.

“And you can take my car. Yours is still at your family's residence.” he handed me the Keys.

I gave him grateful smile while tilting my head to the side and nodded.

“Sure. Bye. Have a good day at work.” I screamed as I ran out to the sleek black BMW.

I drove off to the nursing home, a thousand and one thoughts running through my mind. 

I also need to go get my things from the house. Thankfully, Pierce was thoughtful enough to prepare some clothings for me.

As soon as I entered the parking lot in the nursing home and walked inside the building, a call came in on my phone. It was David, mom's personal bodyguard guard and PA. I thought about answering it before swiping the red button. 

He called again and this time, I answered.

“What do you want David?” I said with contempt “I already told my Dad I'm not coming home. Leave me alone.” 

“I'm not calling about that, I'm calling because I want to help you. I know you're going to see old Mr Jones after all these years. you know he's the one who refused to see you right?” 

I paused in my track and looked around nervously.

“Did you seriously have me followed?” 

“No I didn't. I just have my ways. if you can get old man jones to talk to you, I'll help you. So what do you say, would you let me help you?

I went silent. I didn't know if I could trust him. My head told me not to but my intuition said otherwise. Afterall, he was the one who suggested the blame be put on me in my past life and he had a hand in my previous death even though it was indirectly.

So which is he? Friend or Foe?.
