Chapter 11

Professor Sterling was very sharp with her when Christa was late, especially when she didn’t have an adequate explanation for arriving an hour late and upset all his arrangements.

"It’s very unlike you to be so late. Christa. You don’t look well-perhaps you should go to the doctor." Says Kenneth Sterling standing, who polishes his glasses with a handkerchief.

"I am so sorry. Professor Sterling. I’m all ill this weekend, but I am getting better now. The class will begin in a few minutes; we should go now." Christa carries his book and follows him to the classroom.

Professor Sterling’s affirmative nod seems a shade of reluctance. He chooses Christa as his TA because she is well-connected. Kenneth is one of the few lecturers in this department who don’t have tenure; hence he thinks Christa could be a helper.

"Attention, please. We have a new teaching assistant for this class today-Christa. Please feel free to email her or call her if you have any questions about the course." Kenneth anno
