MasukKIAN
As much as he hates to admit it, he needed her. If it wasn’t for her quick thinking, there was a high chance that Alec would have caught him. He had also seen the flash of anger and jealousy in the other man’s eyes when Xavie had approached him, his inability to communicate made him rely heavily on non verbal cues, he didn’t know how much he needed her until that moment.
It wouldn’t hurt to trust her a little more, it was just a hard thing for him to do and if past experience had taught him something, it was never to trust anyone. He cuts in front of her before she leaves.
He started signing even though he knew she couldn’t understand but he was desperate. “You’re right about me not trusting you but I will try harder.”
She stared at the movement of his hands, probably trying her best to understand what those hand gestures meant. “You know I don’t understand you right?”
“What Alpha meant to say is—” Tint interrupts, making her way into the room. He was so relieved by her presence that he didn’t care that she was eavesdropping. “He is sorry, trusting someone hasn’t been his strong suit for a long time now.”
He glared at Tint, feeling offended at the totally unnecessary part she decided to add.
“I don’t know you that well and you have no reason to believe any word I say but I understand what you are feeling and going through. You have also been hurt by this man just like Alpha, you two need to set aside your differences and trust each other for this to work.”
“Malia was my best friend. I want Alpha Alec stripped of everything he has and pay for the pain he caused a lot of people. We can only achieve this by trusting each other, Alpha, you can start by telling us if you found anything in Alpha Alec’s office.”
While he felt both their gaze on him, his eyes were only focused on Tint. He didn’t want her involved in this, it was too dangerous and he already failed his sister, he wasn’t about to fail her too so he ordered her to leave.
Tint looked back at him with shock written all over her face, she opened her mouth to beg but he shook his head. Accepting defeat, she nodded her head and left them alone once more.
“Let me guess, you don’t trust me enough to tell me right?” Xavie scoffed then proceeded to brush past him to the door.
His eyes widened at how she misunderstood him and without thinking, he pulled her back. She lost her balance and slammed back into him, he didn’t mean to pull her back that hard but sometimes he forgets the strength he processes. His hang gripped her waist, stilling her before letting her go and taking a couple of steps back.
Xavie clears her throat before speaking. “We don’t have to do this, Tint is right. We barely know each other and asking you to trust me is apparently too much to ask, the truth is…I don’t trust you too.” She admitted, peaking at him from beneath her long lashes.
He suddenly had the urge to tell her how much her red hair suits her pale skin, it brings out her eyes more…where the fuck did that come from? He frowned, pushing the thought from his mind. Anyone could pull off a red hair, so there’s no need to sweet talk her into staying—what was she talking about again?
He strolled over the nightstand drawers, he brought out a journal and a pen. He wrote what he wanted to say on it and held it out for her to read. “Let’s start over”
When she nodded in agreement, he wrote more, telling her he found nothing in Alec’s study and how he didn’t expect him to keep any evidence of what he has been up to laying around in his office and how an idea occurred to him. He also told her what he thinks about Alec and the fact that he might be attracted to her, if they explore that, she could distract him while he tries to scoop into his castle more, especially places in the castle they wouldn’t normally look at.
Once she finished reading what she wrote, she closed the journal and handed it back to him. “I don’t think I can do it, I hate him so much… I don’t want to be around him…and—” She paused, like she had said too much.
He wrote back. “It won’t be easy, take time to think about it.”
They parted ways after that, he excused himself from the room and went to his study to get some work done. With the whole impending war looming over them, this made him realize how much he needs a Beta and fast. He avoided the issue for a long time because the betrayal from the old one still stings.
At first he didn’t want to believe his Beta would betray him like that, his partner, someone who fought alongside him for many years. When he found out he was having an affair with his mate. His heart was crushed! He was nineteen all over again, listening to his first mate tell him no woman would ever want him, no matter how good looking, wealthy or strong he is, no woman wants a burden.
That stuck him deep within his bone especially when it was proven over and over again how right she had been. Pushing the painful memories out of his mind, he rang the council chambers, summoning them for a council meeting. He relaxed back into his chair as he glanced outside the window, straightening up to see clearly when he glimpsed Xavie and Hilda from the courtyard, making their way out of the premises.
He watched her, his expression thoughtful even to a point of confusion, he wasn’t sure if he could trust her but he found himself wanting to try!
KIAN He knew something was wrong immediately Wolf started to bark and act relentlessly, the last time he had been this way was when they found Xavie. I scoot in front of the dog, stroking its fur in an attempt to calm him down which usually works but this time it didn’t work for a couple of minutes. “Alpha Kian.” He looked up as his name was being called, letting his men handle Wolf for the time being, he stood up to approach the man who had called him. As they shook hands, he looked around the place for any sign of Alpha Thane. “We believe Alpha Thane is still on his way here, and where is your official translator?” The other man asked, while also looking at his side. He merely smirked and shrugged his shoulders, providing no explanation and even though he could, he didn’t want to. He wasn’t here to negotiate peace, he only came to give Alpha Thane a warning and to discontinue their peace treaty. To his disappointment, Alpha Thane's vehicle pulled up next to his. When he emer
XAVIEI appreciated Kian's absence more after he left. As it turned out, even though I have never hosted any event before, I really handled everything well, approved by both Drake and Tint. The guests had started to arrive but I was more interested in two particular guests I had invited, Alec and Annika. The two were among the last people to show up, knowing Annika, she had a knack for attention and the displeased expression that crossed her face as soon as she saw me, made me smile inwardly. Who did she think they were coming here to meet? Raising my dress a little, I approached them, keeping my face as emotionless as I could muster. “Lady Nyxia.” Alec reached for my hand, placing a kiss at the back of it. Once upon a time, I found that mouth pleasurable but now? The skin where his mouth touched made my skin crawl with disgust. Withdrawing my hand from his when he still lingered, what a shameless man! Annika was basically standing next to him, not that I feel sorry for her. She
KIAN The grand hall was the formal dining hall, where he wine and dine with the most important members of his pack, like the delta wolves, the council, his Beta when he had one. After Malia's death, any desire to socialize died with her, so he stopped coming to the dining hall until tonight…He walked into the room with Xavie attached to his side, having seen how repulsed she was with the idea of pretending to be in love with him, he couldn’t wait for dinner to be over so she wouldn’t have to suffer any more of his presence. Everyone in the room seemed to pause once they became aware of their presence. They stood up as a sign of respect and acknowledgement, he pulled out a chair for Xavie then went to settle down next to her. Once they were seated, everyone took their seat too, he could hear the hushed conversations being whispered but pretend not to. Tint came in after them, after greeting everyone on the table, she sat down, her eyes moving back and forth from me to Xavie and bac
XAVIE After flower picking with Hilda, I have been pacing round the private sitting area waiting for Kian to finish with his meetings so we can have a chat about Hilda’s concern. Something needs to be done before these rumours spun out of control, to be honest, it was already spinning out of control. But then it occurred to me that we have no way of communicating with each other without Tint and if she follows us around, people will just start other rumors like we have a third or something. I collapsed on the sofa, only to rise up a few seconds later as a very brilliant idea crossed my mind. I went into the bedroom, pulling out one of the drawers I’ve seen Kian take a journal out of. I found a small journal there, several if I was being honest. I took a pen from my dressing mirror table and went back to the sitting area to wait for him. With the journal, we won’t need Tint to follow us around translating his words to me when he could just write them down and pass it over for me to
KIANA message was brought to him just as he was about to leave his study, he sat back beyond his desk, tearing open the envelope. He glanced up briefly when a knock sounded on the door and Tint strolled into the room to take a seat. He held up a finger, telling her to wait while he read the content of the letter. It came from the higher council, they wanted him and Alpha Thane to have a peace negotiation which is too bad because he was really looking forward to snapping the man’s head from his thick neck on the battlefield. He pushed the letter under a journal, turning his attention back to Tint, he motioned for her to go ahead and say what she wanted. “Okay, I understand you don’t want me involved in your plans but Malia was my best friend, you can’t keep shutting me out when I can help.” She insisted, he almost forgot how stubborn Tint can be, after all she had been friends with his sister, who was as stubborn as they come. The thought of his sister made his chest tightened, a
XAVIE When Hilda had suggested flower picking, I thought it was something fun, like stopping to smell the roses or something. But instead I was helping her examine plants and picking some herbs. I didn’t complain though, I was in desperate need of some company so I quietly did the job she assigned me. I soon noticed her frequently glancing in my direction and thought at first maybe she was worried I wasn’t doing it right but then I realised she wasn’t looking at the herbs we were picking but at me. Even though she’s pretty much the only person that talks to me around here, Hilda was still a stranger to me. “Am I doing it wrong?” I asked, pausing in the act of picking another flower. She shook her head. “It seems to me like you and Alpha Kian are going out of your way to avoid each other, the servants are talking and once they start, be sure the entire pack is going to be aware of it too.” My eyes widened at her words as I grew nervous. “I’d like to think people have something bet
