Malisha, daughter of the alpha of the Treasure Coast Pack, is finally getting away from all the stress of training the pups.
She had to sneak into her room to get some rest, and wonder why she still has not found her mate like most of her friends. She knew her mother was also worried, but there was nothing she could do, asides wait for the moon goddess to shine upon her. She was always a lover of the whole mate thing, and always delighted in the fact that she did not have to worry with dates in order to find the one like the humans did. She continued imagining meeting her mate which would end with them in the most romantic way ever. She knew it would be the most unimaginable reasons of her life, and she could not wait. She was already twenty, two years late to when your mate is usually revealed. In reality, she was more than two years late because when you are related to an alpha especially directly, you can find out who your mate is as young as sixteen. All her friends already had found their mates, and it was awkward being the odd one out. Sighing, Malisha sneaks into her room, or so she thought when she sees her mother in front of her. She jumps, and says, “Mum, you had to use concealing magic.” Her mother grins. Her mother is a witch, who was mated to her father, an alpha. It was a scandal to say the least. Her mother grins, and says, “It is not my fault your concealing magic is not as good as mine.” Malisha scoffs, but she can not deny. Being a hybrid, she also does magic, and is also witch. “Malisha, I know you just succeeded in avoiding training the pups,” her mother says. “Mum, I can explain,” she says. Her mother raises her eyebrows as if waiting for an explanation from her daughter. Malisha gives her mum a sheepish grin, and says, “Okay fine, I have no explanation asides the fact that I am exhausted.” Her mother smacks her head, and she grunts. “Well, I am here to tell you that the Lycan king is inviting us all to attend his birthday celebration. As you know all the alphas will be in attendance,” her mother says. “Okay, that is fine, so?” Malisha asks. Her mother rolls her eyes, and says, “We will be going together Malisha.” “But I am not the next alpha, why do I have to go?” Malisha whines. “Because your father is an alpha, and we all know it’s not just the alphas who attend these celebrations so, you better suck it up, and get a dress ready,” her mother waves her hands. “Must I come?” She tries asking again. Her mother gives her look, but she knows she was always going to attend. Her father and the lycan king are close friends. His first son and her brother are also best friends. “I already have a dress ready,” Malisha tells her mother. Her mother grins, and says, “I know you do.” When her mother leaves the room, Malisha begins conversing with her wolf, Belle. “What if we find our mate there?” She asks. Belle lets out a swoon, and says, “I will be ecstatic.” “Of course you will be,” Malisha says rolling her eyes. Malisha wriggles her hands due to how nervous she is, and also hopeful. Through her mother, she found out that the lycan prince, Gray was going to be in attendance. Apparently he was finally back. No wonder her brother left to go and see his best friend. He was probably there with Joe, her brother’s other best friend. She once assumed he was her mate, until she saw him claim someone else right in front of her. It hurt her, but she was happy for them. Gray on the other hand, was a jerk who seeked joy in riling her up. She was definitely not looking forward to seeing him. It has been like four years since she last saw seen him, and she was more than happy with that. It would be weird to see him now four years later, but it was just a day. She could pull it off, plus, they were adults now. Rolling her eyes, she decides to take a nap. *The Next Day* She wakes up to her mother already in her room. Of course, she had to enter her room with her magic. “Mum, I am awake. You do not need to barge in,” Malisha says with her back turned around. Her mother smiles at the fact that her daughter noticed her arrival. “I hope you are aware that in three hours, we will be leaving to the party.” “I am,” Malisha nods. “Maybe, your mate will be there,” her mother says smiling at her. Malisha shrugs, and says, “Maybe.” “Don’t tell me you have lost hope,” her mother says frowning at her daughter’s nonchalance. Malisha sighs, and says, “I have not, but I will rather not have hope, than to be disappointed.” Her mother immediately goes to her side, and hugs her daughter immediately, and says, “You will not be disappointed baby. Today is your day.” Malisha gives her mother a small smile, and says, “I hope so.” Her mother gives her a shoulder a small squeeze, and says, “I better leave you to get ready before your father leaves us.” Malisha snickers. “As if he can. With a quick spell, we will stop the car, even get dressed, or even reach the lycan prince’s palace without our dad.” Her mother cackles, and says, “You truly are my daughter.” Malisha is then left alone to get ready. She goes out to see her brother, Leo and his mate, her best friend, Alima are already waiting for them. She closes her eyes, and says, “I hope I am not walking into anything rated eighteen?” Leo and Alima roll their eyes simultaneously. “You are just doing too much,” Alima says. “Yeah, you are only saying that because you were not the one who almost witnessed her brother and best friend almost tear their clothes.” Malisha scrunches her nose in disgust trying to forget the one day she wishes to never remember. When they all enter their different vehicles, Malisha can feel her wolf, Belle being agitated. “What is going on with you?” She mentally asks her wolf. “I feel like we are going to meet our mate today,” belle replies. Malisha doubts her wolf, but does not say anything. She could not bear to hurt her wolf so, she said nothing while rubbing her hands together, wishing she did the one dark magic of future telling. When they arrive, her wolf is even more agitated. By the time they get into the party. It is of course in their biggest hall in their palace. She grins at how beautiful it is. She and her family walk in, and she can see different alphas, betas and deltas with their families. She and her family exchange as much pleasantries as they can. She finally stays on her own knowing her parents and brother had to do more socializing. She relaxes, while taking a sip of her wine. She feels people looking at her, but she ignores the stares as she is used to it. She is secretly on her phone, when someone comes to sit beside her. She looks to see someone she does not know, and is about to find out who he truly is with her magic, when he says, “Hi, I am Scott.” She raises her eyebrow, and he introduces the pack he is from. She smiles, and shakes his hand. “Are you here without your mate?” He asks her. She looks at him, hears his heartbeat, and can tell he knows she has not found her mate yet. She throws a wicked grin his way, and can feel her eyes getting more intense because his eyes widen at her. To avoid causing a scene, she uses her magic to speak to him in his head. “You and I know I have not found my mate yet, so why are trying to ask for what does not exist?” His eyes widen at her, and she gives him a fake smile, then snaps her fingers, and he falls flat on his face with two glasses falling on him. She make it seem as if he is a klutz. Her mother and brother turn to look at her, and they warn her mentally. She nods, and glares at anyone who tries to look at her in a wrong way. Her best friend comes to her, and says, “Your mother said we should come because we are about to meet the king.” She mentally groans, but moves forward, and immediately smells it. The smell of something so divine. It can’t be, can it? They get closer to the lycan family, and she lets out a gasp. Her wolf immediately starts chanting, “Mate, mate, mate.” She turns in the direction, and sees him staring at her intently while clenching his fists. His eyes a usual light brown, immediately turns gold. She is about to yell mate, but he ignores her, which immediately causes a sharp pain in her chest. Maybe she was imagining things because there is no way Gray is her mate. The lycan prince, her brother’s best friend, and her childhood enemy. She is in a daze at the rejection, and pain that stabs her chest, but she pretends as if she is not in a deep pain. She greets the lycan king and queen. When it is time to greet his children, she does that, but looks at Gray’s hand instead of shaking it. She can tell that her eyes have probably changed colour. “Shake his hand,” her mother’s voice comes into her mind. They both shake each other’s hands, and her mother looks at her reaction, and she can tell she has found out. He leaves her hand in a hurry once again breaking her heart. Why is he not claiming me? She wonders. She excuses herself, and can hear her mother and best friend behind her. “He is your mate,” her mother states. “Then why is he not claiming me openly?” Malisha asks agitated. Alima’s eyes widen, and she is lost for words. They all go back outside so as to not cause worry. She stays far away from him. When it is finally time for a couples dance, a young man, comes to ask her to a dance. She smiles and agrees even though it pains her to. She glances at her mate, and sees another female in his arms which makes her nearly growl. “I hate him,” she constantly tells herself mentally. When her dance partner, Martins puts his hand on her waist, and they start moving, she feels weird, but leaves a smile on her face. Martins pulls her closer, and she immediately feels the hairs on her arms rise up. She hears a low growl, and sees Gray behind Martins. His eyes are fully gold now. When Martins sees the look on Gray’s eyes, he all but runs away. Gray takes her into his arms, and Malisha sighs in relief. “You are my mate,” she says quietly as they dance. He says nothing for a bit, and says, “You are grown.” “I would like to think so too since four years have come and gone,” Malisha replies. “I can’t claim you,” Gray says. Her breaks, and she stares at him in disbelief and shock. “Why not?” She asks. “You will not understand,” he says, and leaves her arms while she can feel the hurt in her chest. If her mate will not accept her, she was going to make sure her virginity will be gone this night. She was going to get acceptance from someone, whether Grayson Ares likes it or not. With pain, anger and determination, she gets to work, to find her willing participant. The silence surely is deafening. Training grounds were never this quiet. Had she known it was going to be this bad, she would train with Sage alone. Conversations died the moment she passed. How was she supposed to ignore that? She lets out a mental frustration. She was going to ignore it at the end of the day. There was nothing she could do right now. She walks to Sage, and he gives her a blank look. “You’re late.” She rolls her eyes. “I am NOT that late.” She raises an eyebrow. “You sound disappointed.” He shakes his head. “I do not, but you look distracted.” She narrows her eyes at Sage. “I have been here for like, two minutes plus, you always think I look distracted.” His lips turn slightly. “That is because you always are.” “I beg to differ,” Malisha replies. “Let’s begin,” he says, and she nods. They start with sparring drills, and even though Sage is a powerful wizard, he really is a good fighter. He really is fast, but he did not have the physical abilit
Joanne looks at Grayson’s mother in shock. His father leaves the both of them sensing that the conversation is not for him. “You are actually really serious,” Joanne says in disbelief. “Of course, I am.” His mother says rising from her seat with grace. “I only want what is best for my son, and while he is pining over someone who does not want him anymore, it hurts me to see.” “But he is the one who rejected her, right?” Joanne asks carefully. “Forget about that. The past is irrelevant. He wants her, and she does not want him so, make him want you,” she tells Joanne. The words settle heavily in her room. “You are saying it like it is easy.” Joanne says after letting out an exhale. “Of course it will not be easy, but you are beautiful girl, and you seem to be smart, and you have a sense of duty. I am sure you will find your way.” Joanne looks at the lycan queen in shock while wondering if this is the best thing for her to do when Grayson has openly stated that it was only
“We did not think you will be coming back so soon, Grayson,” his mother mutters. “So, why is she here?” “I was invited,” she replies. Grayson’s eyes turn light brown indicating that his wolf is getting annoyed. “I was not speaking to you.” The woman flinches, and normally, Grayson would have felt pity for her, but all he could feel is anger. “Don’t be rude to her,” her mother scolds him. He ignores his mother’s words. “Who is she? And what is she doing here?” “Her name is Joanne,” her mother says. “And so? What is she doing here?” Grayson is trying as hard as he can to control his anger, but it does not seem to work. “She came here to have a meeting with us,” his father says. Grayson scoffs. “I hope she is not here for what I think she is.” “Grayson, sit down,” his father commands. “No, I will want to hear whatever it is you have to say.” Grayson angrily says. “I have a feeling I will be walking out of this discussion.” His father glares at him, but Grayson
The moment Malisha and Sage go to the training hall, Malisha can sense a kind of quiet. It seemed as though the people were talking, and became extremely silent the moment she entered. She looks at them suspiciously, but decides to brush it off. Her wolf is at high alert. We are being watched, her wolf tells her. "I know," Malisha mutters trying to hide the unease. She can tell that everyone is watching her, and she can tell that they want to say something. Sage comes beside her, and they walk together. "You can feel it too," Malisha states. "Yes," Sage replies. Malisha groans, but they walk outside, and she hears it. What some of them were probably saying and thinking before. I thought the prince and princess Malisha are no more? I thought he rejected her Does she still want him that much? I assumed that his chosen mate will be Willow, or someone else Malisha hears everything, and her heart squeezes at that. Willow? Malisha and her wolf think to thems
She was so going to kiss him, and she knew it. She would blame it on her ovulation because Grayson was saying all the right things, and she obviously could not think clearly anymore. “You know, I will always want you, right?” Grayson asks lowly. “I would not know,” Malisha replies even though she can see it in full effect, and she is currently losing herself because of him. This is exactly why she told him she could not pick him, and she thought she had gotten to him, but instead, he makes her want to dive into his arms. She was forgetting about the rejection, and she could not deny she was not really faulting him for that anymore. Instead, she was just trying to protect herself so she won’t lose herself in the process. Plus with the problem of the savages, and their wants. She knew it was not a good idea to want to be with Grayson, and she was going to find a way to yank the thread that was connecting them together. The thread that was making her irrational. The thread that w
Malisha rolls her eyes even though Grayson is caging her in, and she is feeling the tension of being this close to him. “The wizard is not the one for you,” Grayson says simply. “More like YOU are not the one for me,” Malisha mutters. “Then explain to me why we are fated mates?” He asks looking like he is still trying to rein in the anger. “Were,” Malisha corrects with an evil gleam in her eyes. At this point, it seemed as though she got off from egging on the lycan. She loved the effect she had on him, and how affected he got whenever it concerned her. “Stop fucking saying that, Malisha,” he says exasperatedly. “What I am feeling does not feel like it is in the past, and the moment you accept that, the better for you,” Grayson says which makes Malisha snicker. “I can’t believe the Lycan prince is this deluded,” she says. “You better believe it, Mal.” “Do not call me that,” she tells him glaring. “But the wizard can call you that?” Grayson asks without even maski
