Olivia’s POV

“What is that?” I thought as I approached it. Then I heard it, a familiar voice. It was Jeremy, his muffled screams. My heart thudded against my rib cage as shills ran up and down my spine, as I recalled the man I chased that night.

Was it the same man? No. This one looked taller, but what if they work together?

“Stop!” I screamed while running down the corridor after the cloaked figure. My bare feet slapped against the cold stone floor with the hem of my nightdress trailing behind me like smoke.

The figure didn’t look back. I pushed harder, heart in my throat, the only sound in my ears the roar of blood and Jeremy’s muffled cries as he struggled in their arms.

“Guards!” I yelled. “They’re taking Jeremy! They have my son!”

Doors flew open. Boots thundered behind me. A blur of steel and bodies surged past but I didn’t stop. I couldn’t. I didn’t care if it was a trap. I didn’t care if it was a suicide run.

They had my son.

The figure turned sharply down the servants’ wing

Olivia’s POVThe words on the paper hit harder than any blade could. “You can’t protect him forever "I stared at the message, my fingers curling tightly around the bloodstained cloth it came with. My heart thudded painfully in my chest not from fear but from the rage boiling beneath my skin. Jeremy was not just my son anymore. He was a target.I turned to the guard. “Where was this found?”He swallowed nervously. “Tied to the arrow that landed just outside the east gate. No one saw who fired it."Of course they didn’t. Whoever was behind this was watching us.. staying two steps ahead.I folded the paper carefully, sliding it into the inside pocket of my coat. “Double the guards. No one gets near Jeremy without my say."“Yes, Luna." Back in my chambers, I watched Jeremy sleep. His cheeks were flushed with sleep, lips parted slightly. I reached out and smoothed a hand over his hair, but my mind was miles away.I had lived most of my life afraid..of the whip, of silence, of being unsee

Olivia’s POV“Damien?” I echoed. The word turned to ash in my mouth. My breath hitched, every damn bone in my body tightening like a snare had closed around me.“No," I said, stepping back. “That’s not possible. Damien is his son."First it was Austin that came to try to put a rift between Damien and I, not his prisoner who was taking his name. What do I believe? The prisoner leaned against the wall, bruised lips curling. “I thought you said you weren’t weak, Luna. Don’t let your heart make you stupid."I stared at him for a long time. His wrists were chained, his clothes stained with filth and dried blood but something about his expression… It wasn't a triumph. It was a pity.He truly believed I didn’t know the man I slept beside. The man I once loved. “Get out of my sight. Take him to the torture room, since he thought he could lie to me." My voice was cold.As they dragged him away, his laughter followed me down the corridor like a haunting echo. It clung to me as I walked, fast a

Olivia’s POV“W..what…Why would she write this to Damien?”Austin’s laughter rang out, breaking the silence between us, sounding sharp and out of place. “We could say that was Prinsca’s last words,” He said.I blinked, unsure if I had heard him correctly. Prinsca’s last words? Why would a woman who came asking for my help, so we would fake her death, which was her only chance of survival, write to the very man who helped protect her?Didn’t she know this might put us in trouble? Did she write it before the oath? Did Austin force her? Unless…“You… had something with her, right," I said slowly, my voice almost too soft. When he was mute, I repeated, “Didn’t you?”Austin looked away for a moment, like my words had found a place he didn’t want exposed. He stepped back, leaning against the stall gate with his arms folded across his chest like armor.“She loved me once," he admitted. “Or use me. Prinsca was a whole lot, you know.” I hadn’t replied, I wanted more. Not just these brief wor

Olivia’s POV“What do you mean she was caught up in the fire, Corazon?” I growled at her, my face etched with horror. “Do not say such things about a pregnant woman.”I turned to leave but she stepped in front of me, saying, “At least, let us check the fireplace, please.” I sighed. “Corazon–” then I pressed my lips into a thin line. “Fine, if that's what you want. But I hope that was not true.”She moved out of my way and I stormed out, worried. “Guards!!” I ordered as soon as I got outside. They all rushed to me immediately. I looked up at the burnt up barn. “I have a few doubts. Last night I almost lost my life after I followed Prinsca into the barn house, but then I survived. I thought she would have come out of it, but I haven’t heard anything from her, have you?” They all shared glances and then shook their heads at me. “Strange– she is usually so loud.” I turned and saw Corazon beside me, with her hands clamped behind her. “What am I going to do now?” I thought out loud. The

Olivia’s POV“Are you okay?” Damien asked me as he wiped off the sweat on my forehead. I never knew I was sweating so badly. “Did he hurt you?”“I would never hurt her,” Austin cut in. I opened my eyes slowly and saw him looking at me. “You should be careful with her– Perhaps you are hurting her.”“What are you saying?” Damien growled at him, his brows crossed. His anger was evident as his hands tightened around me. “Why are you here with her in the first place?”The sound of Damien's voice had me thinking twice– if I should tell him all that Austin told me now, it would make him furious and he would rage out his anger on Austin. He might kill Austin tonight if I did that– it would mostly put him in trouble. The council would think that he killed Austin because of the Alpha position and that wasn’t true. I knew my Damien– his temper could cause havoc.“I’m saying if you don’t take care of what you have, you’ll lose it,” Austin said with a grin. “Same way you are about to lose the pack
