Olivia’s POV

Her gaze didn’t waver. “You don’t have a choice. They’ll be here in minutes. And if he’s still inside these walls when they arrive, you’ll lose him to them instead of me."

Austin’s voice came weakly from behind me. “Don’t… let her…”

I didn’t look back. My focus stayed locked on Jeremy. “Jeremy," I said carefully, “Come here. Now."

He didn’t move. Selene’s hand tightened slightly on his shoulder. “He’s starting to understand. And the longer you fight it, the worse it will get for him."

I took another step forward. And the sound of a horn split the air. It was low, deep and so loud it made the stones under my boots vibrate. From the treeline beyond the gate, figures began to emerge. Dozens this time. All wearing the same skull masks as before.

“Damien?” I thought out loud.

Jeremy turned his head toward them. And then… he smiled again. The horn’s echo had barely faded before the first masked fighters broke into a run. “Close the gate!” I shouted.
