Olivia's POV

The morning was cool, the morning breeze bore none of the heat and anguish that burned within me. It had been three days since Prinsca's pregnancy revelation and in those three days I had barely eaten or slept. I had lost my appetite to live let alone eat. The only thing that kept me going was Jeremy.

I turned away from the view and moved toward my dresser. My uniform hung neatly beside it, pressed and folded, ready for the day. Today I had a lecture on tactical misdirection, and I would be prepared. I had to take refuge in my work, I needed something to distract me from the knot in my chest.

Behind me, Mirabel, my maid, moved with soft precision. She said nothing, only came forward with the deep navy dress I wore to teach. It was my favourite outfit for the war college, it made me look serious and that was how I wanted my students to view me. I slipped out of my robe and into the blue dress.

There was a knock—no, not a knock. The door was opened without an invitation

  • The Alpha’s Banished Mate   Chapter 99

Simeon's POV My mind was made up. I was going to lie my way out of this situation. I could never admit to sleeping with Prinsca even though we had been at it for five years.I called Olivia's name one more time but she wouldn't answer me, she would not do much as I look back. I understood that she was angry, the only thing left to do was to give her some time to herself. I needed to give her time to realise that her best shot was with me.She couldn't possibly go back to Damien after everything that he had done to her right?Only that I had done the exact same thing to her.But this was different, it had to be. Staying by her side all these years had to count for something.I ran a hand through my hair, pacing about the corridor. The wind was cold against my skin, reminding me that what I had done to Olivia had been heartless and I would never be able to forget it. I was also going to live the rest of my life in regret no matter the decision I made. I could still see the look in Oli

My world as I knew it was about to change forever. I looked from the victorious expression on Prinsca's face to the guilty one on Simeon's face. I said nothing, there was nothing to say. Not when Simeon turned to me, his mouth opening and closing as if he wanted to speak but could not find the words. Not when Prinsca, pleased with the damage she had done, sauntered out of the room just the way she had come in. The sapphire light above could no longer comfort me. When I had first changed the lights, I had never imagined that underneath it, I would receive the news that would rend my heart in pieces. Simeon finally moved, his voice low and careful. “Olivia, listen—”I stood abruptly, the chair scraping against the marble floor. The noise startled him and made him flinch. I didn’t look at him. I could not bear to look at the face that had once offered me protection and had now taken it away from me. I walked out of the dining room, unable to beat his presence altogether. My breath

  • The Alpha’s Banished Mate   Chapter 97

Olivia’s POV“Honey, I've had a long day. Why don't I freshen up and then we can have dinner?” I asked Jeremy, changing the topic entirely. I did not want to give my consent to having Albert supersive Jeremy. It simply wasn't safe. What if Damien had ordered him to kidnap Jeremy again? Albert had to go, I just had to find a good reason to let him go. An hour later, we all reconvened for dinner. I usually found the dining room comforting even though it was a rather large space for our small family but it was so because we usually had guests who joined us for meals. There were no guests today however, it was just the three of us and perhaps to the outside world, watching us sit together to enjoy a meal we looked like a happy family. There was nothing however cheerful about this gathering. The dining room glowed with the warm sapphire light of the chandelier, casting clickers on the silverware and polished wood. I had insisted on the sapphire when I began living in the palace, I had t

  • The Alpha’s Banished Mate   Chapter 96

Olivia's POV The stables were my first stop when I returned to the palace. I had to get Sheila's cousin settled in, I had not decided yet what I was going to call her. I was thinking of letting Jeremy decide that. I had still not decided what was to be done with Albert and I could tell that he was anxious too about what would become of him. If I had allowed him to go with Damien, it would be strange that I had not brought him back with me. But bringing a spy into the palace? “Your Highness, if you want me burnt at stake,” Albert started to say. I shook my head. If I implicated him for being a spy, he had enough on me to have me burnt myself. If Simeon ever found out that I had spent the night with his enemy, he would not understand that nothing happened between us. That wasn't exactly true.“No one is burning you at stake but I just want to know, have you always been in the employ of Damien?” I asked him. “Yes, from the very beginning. He sent me here because he knew you loved h

  • The Alpha’s Banished Mate   Chapter 95

I wanted to return home the fastest I could. Damien had insisted that I pass the night on his bed while he slept on the couch. In spite of the comfortable plush bed, I had been unable to fall asleep. The second morning light filtered into the room, I stood up from bed. “Good morning, Moonshine,” Damien greeted me. I ignored him. “I told Albert to get you some clothes for your return home,” said Damien. The clothes were right next to him, he was daring me silently to come for them. I went to where he sat picking up the clothes as quickly as I could but in a bid to leave quickly, I tripped and fell right on his lap. I should have stood up the second right after that but I did not. I allowed his hand to draw closer into himself so that I could feel his arousal through his clothes which I still wore. He caressed my neck and shoulders with his fingers for a while before moving them onto my breasts which he caressed in a circular motion. But before he could seize my lips in a kiss,
