3 hours later After the day we've had, I'm happy to be in bed with Kane. We can finally relax and let the stress of the day fall off. "Well, that's done," Kane says pressing send on the house offer email. "Now we wait." He says looking over at me. I smile and nod."I have to admit I'm nervous about this one. It's such a beautiful house. I can only guess how many people want to call it home." I say and he touches my arm. "It's ours. I knew it the moment I saw it." He says confidently. "And I know you felt the same way when you saw it." He says and I nod in agreement. "I knew it but I don't want to get my hopes up," I say feeling even more nervous. "I know it would hurt if we don't get it," I say letting him on my fears. I loved that house with my whole heart. I wish we were sleeping in that beautiful main bedroom now. "Baby, there's no way we are not getting the house. We're raising our family in that house." He says getting excited. "I wish I had the same faith as you," I say an
My mother walks into the kitchen holding a box. I stop mid-bite and stare at her. She smiles and places the box in front of me."Nice breakfast." She says as she sits on the chair next to mine. I look at her wondering what she's planning right now. She seems extra happy today."Nice box," I say looking at it curiously."I'm glad you like it because it's yours." She says and I smile peaked. I place my fork down and touch the side of the box."What's in it?" I ask standing up. I touch the lid and stare at her. She has this serene look on her face."Open it." She says and I open the box. I gasp when I see what's in the box. There are little baby clothes neatly folded in the box. My eyes get misty as I touch the top of the clothes."Oh, mommy. This is beautiful" I say and the tears start falling. She didn't tell me she was putting this together."I'm glad you like
This is my last week at work. I am sitting at my desk and looking through my emails. I need to make sure that all of my admin is in order before I go on maternity leave. I need to make sure that I don't have any forgotten client work or any unprocessed invoices. My due date is a week from now and I know it's time to ease into my mommy era. I can't put it off anymore. It's time to prepare myself mentally, emotionally, and physically and I can't do that if I'm still in work mode. I have to admit I'm terrified of the idea of not working for over three months. I haven't taken time off in forever so I don't know how to take time off.I worked hard for the last nine months to make sure I wouldn't have to worry about making money but I'm still nervous. I have enough saved up to make sure I can take time off for more than six months. But I'm used to having money come in. It's going to take a lot of adjustment when the money stops.Of course,
"Oh my. Shalom, she's beautiful." My mother says tears streaming down her. She's holding her granddaughter. I look at her crying too, I can't believe I had a baby five hours ago. My baby girl is here. "She's so quiet too." She says when my daughter coos in her arms.I'm a few feet away from her lying in the hospital bed. Kane is sitting up on a sofa next to my mother and he's watching her too. He has this proud look on his face."She's perfect, she looks just like her mother," Kane says smiling and tears stream down his face too. This is so emotional."I think she looks like you," I say looking lovingly at him. I think she is the spitting image of her father. She has his nose, his eyes and she has his smile. After she was born she was screaming letting anyone who would listen that she was here. I thought she would never calm down but when the nurse placed her in my arms she went silent immediately. I said hi to her and she. Tears came streaming
"We're going home today," I say looking down at my daughter who is sleeping peacefully in my arms. I've been staring at her for hours. I'm in awe of her, she has the most beautiful eyebrows I have ever seen. I softly run my thumb over her left brow and she opens her eyes. We stare at each other for a moment, and I silently say a little prayer. I pray that I become an amazing mother to her. I pray to have the strength to pour all of my love and wisdom into her. I pray that she feels my love and adoration every waking moment of her life. "Your father is such an amazing man. He made sure that we have a beautiful home to go to." I say and she closes her eyes. "Your father is a very good man," I say and she smiles. "I know he's going to be an amazing dad to you. He's already an amazing father to your brother." I say getting emotional. Kane is exceptional. I can't imagine having this moment with any other man. He is caring, thoughtful and beautiful. I marvel at how much care he's shown m
It's 5 pm. I'm lying in bed as the doctor ordered. We've been home with the baby for over a day. Renee is sleeping in her cot bed next to me. We bought those special ones that attach to our bed for easy access to her. Kane was adamant that he didn't want me to struggle with getting out of bed every night to go feed her. She's such a good baby. She doesn't cry unless it's necessary. My mother says I hit the lottery when it comes to newborns. She was ready to be in full mode grandmom mode but Renee is the calmest baby ever. "Shalom." I hear Junior softly call out at the bedroom door."Yes," I say looking in the direction of the door. I forgot he was coming home today. He hasn't met the baby yet and I was excited for them to see each other. "May I come in?" He asks after a beat."Yes, yes. Come in." I say sitting up on the bed. The opens and he smiles the moment he sees me. "Did I wake you?" He asks whispering softly. "No," I say smiling at him. "I was up," I say when I see disbelie
"What's going on in here?" Kane says walkinhg through our bedroom door. He walks over to the bed and he sits in front of me. He looks at his son holding Renee and I can see all the love for them in his eyes. I stare at him and in this moment I know what love should be. "What do you thinks about ypur sister?" He asks Junior. "I think she's beautiful." Junior says still staring at Renee. "And she's so small." Junior says looking up at his father. "That's usually how we all start out."Kane says smiling at him. "You were this small once upon a time, and look at you now. A big brother." Kane says and Junior smiles nodding. "I know, this is exciting," Junior says looking at me. He smiles beaming at me. "Yeah? What are you most excitded about?" Kane asks excitedly. "I can't wait to play with her, teach her all the things I know how to do and I can't wait to tell everyone that I have a beautiful baby sister." He says smiling happily. "I think she's going to love having you as a big
7 days after the baby is born. For the first time since I gave birth, I feel a little like myself. I got out of bed and took a walk in the garden today. I am beyond grateful that Kane bought us this house with a huge backyard and beautiful garden. I smile thinking about the title deed he left on my bedside table. He left it with a beautiful note declaring his undying love for me. I still can't believe I own this house with him. Also, today is the day my best friend is meeting my daughter."Shalom, where did you get this beautiful young lady with perfect eyes and brows?" Noni says smiling down at Renee. She came over early this morning to see the baby. She hasn't last hour she's been here. She is obsessed with my daughter. She can't get over how perfect she is. "I am taking her home with me." She says for the 50th time today."You are not taking my baby with you," Kane says walking into the room."Yes, I am," Noni says smiling at h
