Chapter 3

"What did you say? You want Karen to give me conservative treatment?!" Frank Myer stared at me in disbelief, lowering his voice as he grit his teeth. "Janet, are you crazy?! Karen has always worked in admin; she doesn't even know how to treat patients. Are you trying to get me killed by letting her treat me?"

I immediately raised my voice and shot back, "What? Are you saying Karen can’t give any treatment at all? Then, how is she qualified to run for chief?"

Karen's face instantly turned pale as she glared furiously at Frank. Frank quickly tried to gratify her, his attitude pitiful as if he were begging on the street.

But when he turned back to me, his expression was full of anger and disgust. "How dare you slander Doctor Karen like that?! Her skills are top-notch! My problem is nothing to her!"

I shrugged. "Then go ahead and let her treat you."

Seeing that I wouldn't budge, Frank didn't seem worried. He quietly reassured Karen, "Don't worry. Janet and I have only been married for two months. If she doesn't want to be a widow for the rest of her life, she'll have to do the surgery herself. Otherwise, the gossip alone would drown her!"

Just then, the higher-ups of the hospital rushed in and shot me a fierce look.

Frank's video had caused quite a stir online, so the hospital director had come to investigate. With all his experience, he could see right away that Frank was at a critical point. If Frank didn’t get surgery now, he really would lose his private parts for good.

If Frank's treatment failed, the hospital's reputation would be in ruins.

So, the hospital director meekly persuaded Frank to agree to the surgery. Frank, who had planned this whole scene just to boost Karen's fame, agreed without hesitation.

On his way to the operating room, he was all smiles, telling Karen, "Only Janet can do this surgery. She's such a pushover. Even after I yelled at her just now, she’ll still do it herself. Karen, get ready for your promotion!"

Karen was excited too. As she passed me, she sneered, "Doctor Janet, you'd better do a good job with this surgery, or everyone really will think you’re just a scammer and a doctor without any talents!"

They were both sure I would deliver a perfect operation to clear my name.

I clenched my fists and silently followed the hospital director into the prep room outside the operating theater.

Frank was already under anesthesia when I entered the theater. He immediately burst into arrogant laughter and pointed at me with contempt. "I knew you’d show up, because you did the same last time! You're so pathetic, Janet. Someone like you will never be good enough for me. If it weren't for the fact that I need to take you out for Karen as her biggest competitor, do you think I would have forced myself to court and marry you?

"This marriage is so useful, though. I'm your husband. If I say you're a corrupt doctor, everyone will believe it. But if I kill you, nobody will think it was me! Hahaha, this time, Karen and I are going to walk all over you, spend your money, and live a good life!"

Everyone thought Frank was just mindlessly rambling under anesthesia, but I knew every word was true.

What really shocked me was that Frank had regressed as well.

But even if he had, it wouldn’t change a thing. Everything was set in stone now. This time, he was going to lose his private parts.

He could forget about ever using me to ascend again!
