Chapter 24

(Lancelot’s POV)

A few days after their visit, the envoy returned back to the capital. Also, due to an unexpected event, the prince too had to return back to the palace, which in turn left me alone in the mansion.

To guard me, he assigned a guard named Rokhan. He originated from the south, where the Queen is from, and was very quiet, just like the prince.

The first few days with him was pretty peaceful, but I swear I was about to die from boredom. He only guarded me, standing in front of the door and occasionally entering my room to check on me, just to return back to standing still.

A week after that uneventful cycle, Rokhan finally started a conversation, in a form of question to me, because lately he had been accompanying me to the library almost every day.

"I am studying." I answered simply.

His eyebrows rose a little, maybe half believing my words. He must have thought of me as a sleazy type of person.
